in all honesty this is kind of depressing. His best friend died, almost everyone hates him, the only decent rival he has would rather read books than fight him and his former partner, who has become much more successful than him doesn't answer his calls.

Honestly I’m surprised that DBZ never really addressed the fact that Popo’s wish to bring back everyone killed by Freeza and his men would have resurrected the entire Saiyan Race and every other species that he eradicated. Theoretically there should be his entire race to fight. Even if the planet they were on wasn’t there their should be at least a number of them who were capable of surviving in space long enough to reach a planet nearby. And even if they didn’t there was Bardock’s squad who were killed on another planet that wasn’t destroyed

It's not that he's not just more successful either, it's the fact that he knows if he calls him, it's like an ex drunk-dialing you or coming back for money/sex.
Plus he's not into bloodying his hands anymore. It takes a lot out of you for very little gain, especially if he felt Super Vegeta from 3000 miles away. Not worth it.

I don't think he has said most character's names outside of Kakarot
He calls Gohan things like Kakarot's Brat and The Runt
He calls Krillin and Yamcha beta males

He pretty much calls every female character Woman
He calls Trunks The Boy

I think he has only said the names of people in the Freeza Force like Freeza, Nappa, Cui guys like that

@@123GOHANZ There's a fanon i enjoy that theorizes that Vegeta is actually pretty smart. he's no intellectual, but he knows quite a bit of high end math, science, and engineering just because his upbringing and occupation.
the Saiyans for all that most of their tech was implied to be stolen from the Tuffles, were a spacefaring race before they invaded what is/was planet Vegeta. Do you think King Vegeta wouldn't be lining up the best instructors he could hire/threaten/abduct to ensure his heir was as qualified as possible? the after planet Vegeta got iezaFray'day he grew up doing planetary conquest missions with Nappa and Radditz. all of the Frieza force must have at least some idea how their ships work and how to maintain or fix them, what would happen if your pod malfunctions and strands you in the middle of nowhere?
18 really shined in her skit. The way her eyes dangerously narrow with each point she makes was an awesome touch.
That was the only cringe inducing part. It's absurd that 18 isn't chilling in King Yemma's after running her mouth to Vegeta like that

I love how Teamfourstar wrote Gohan's charecter as well as everyone else its actually amazing I wish they wrote the official version especially Piccolo the changes they made to him actually make him a good no an amazing charecter

Umar Chowdhury I was about to say. Even though everyone pretty much acknowledges he acts like a child (they’re in the right of doing so), but I think the cast do “take it too far” in the sense he doesn’t really have any way to express it without violence. For Kami sake he’s, and I do think the other characters don’t realize it fully, is a Saiyan prince. Sounds dumb, but I sincerely doubt he ever had a chance to give into his other feelings when not touching upon anger and happiness/pride.

Interesting thing: At the end of the original cell saga when Vegeta says "I am not a warrior, and I will never fight again" he was supposed to really mean it, would end with Gohan being the protector of Earth and Vegeta just becoming a regular family man. Imagine that in DBZA

I almost felt bad for Vegeta, then I remember she told no lies.
Seeing as how I'd rather see Vegeta wipe the floor with 18 if not for the fact he was so far above her in terms of power at this point, I feel it was pure desperation on his end. And he held it together pretty well. He really could have gone a on a murder spree to provoke Gohan into fighting him. And I think 18 just doesn't want to get annihilated.

I kind of like the idea that maybe there was no internal dialogue, and Piccolo was just doing that to mess with Vegeta (knowing that Vegeta knows that there are usually voices in Piccolo's head).

@@harleyoyelade9988 That's the great thing about TFS, they take the original story, tells it again, tweaks details enough for it to be a "new" story, but still keep it enough within the old parameters to make us see the old one from new perspectives. This is a great example of just that. In OG we don't really get to see what leads to Vegeta willingly going Majin other than him explaining it. Here we see the frustration building up

But without Goku, his rival that helps push him, he felt lost as he indicated when he stayed behind a moment after Cell died. When Goku came back, all those feelings brust to the front and then it felt like everything was taking that away. It wasn't really a drop of character development. The Cell saga just showed. Oh hey, he actually does have care for Trunks.

Rather than being afraid of Chi Chi, I like to think Vegeta left when he found out Goten just got put to bed because he remembered what he went through in the first ShortZ with Trunks. That's the kind of character growth I've come to expect from TFS.

At this point, Vegeta seems to have come to the realization that being feared for his strength and malice isn't the same as being respected for it. What he wants is a challenge from some capable and willing to fight him.

The way they setup the fact that Vegeta literally went through depression not having Goku around that ultimately led to his actions in the Buu saga is amazing. TFS are not only comic geniuses but writing geniuses as well.
Not knocking them, but TFS has the advantage of 'just' bridging the holes that Toriyama veered around while coming up with a story every week.
They're doing it wonderfully and making the new material their own, but it's still easier than coming up with something whole cloth.
I mean that was the implication in the real show. They're just showing it to us and fleshing it out.

Sage Blast unlikely, Vegeta had no one to train with, that’s the entire conceit of the skit. And at the end this is basically outright acknowledged with the “pity fight” comment. It’s hard to gauge exactly when Gohan really starts slipping or when Vegeta really gets stronger, especially given we don’t see him do basically anything with SSJ2 until he becomes Majin.

I dont think thats the entire point of it :
Vegeta could still have gotten stronger by himself as he had shown in the past , but rather he had no one to measure himself against unlike Goku in the other world.
It is kind of like practising Tennis on your own with a machine.
As for the ssj2 mark I think he did cross it in one year post Cell Saga.
He already had access to Ssj 1 Grade 3 and he simply needed to push it one step further which I think he would have done ( which also can be the reason he wanted to fight Gohan now instead of the 1 year skip else it would be a one sided beatdown)
As for Gohan while there is no definitive measure, one can conclude that he has been detoriating and is obviously not as strong as when he fought Cell.

Worst part is everything she said was false. Only reason he reacted the way he did was because he probably feels some measure of guilt for ignoring Future Trunks, and for not being a great husband initially. Vegeta doesn’t beat Trunks, he, at worst, just kind of ignored future Trunks, and he’s shown to be an, at least, passable father in the Two-and-a-half Saiyans short. Vegeta also doesn’t ignore his wife either, his “frequently contacted” is just her. Mind you, he’s apparently called Nappa *37* times before the end of the short, and Nappa isn’t on the frequently contacted list.

Were the Buu Saga to happen I wanted the darkest callback ever to this. Imagine, Vegeta aims for the crowd, you can hear the gang expression confusion and concern before Vegeta aims in their direction and fires it. The scene plays out normally, but as Goku looks back Vegeta gives that head tilt grin as he utters two little words.

I appreciate that TFS is making an effort to make these shorts more than just one-off joke bits. While there's certainly humor in this one the character building is pretty on point for everything that will eventually lead up to Vegeta's arc in the Buu saga. Even with DBZA finished the boys ain't leaving us entirely hanging
To be fair, Vegeta’s whole character arc resolving was one of the only redeeming elements of the Buu arc.

@@christopher7692 My thinking is that their inspiration will return one day and they'll slowly start producing major DBZA content, maybe starting with the Bojack movie. That probably won't happen for a few years, but it'll be worth the wait. They need the break
god this makes me so happy. i was smiling so big throughout all of the short. the expressions and timing and voice acting are all so much fun to watch and i am so glad these shorts exist! i discovered DBZA a few days ago because i've only just started interacting with non-latinamerican DBZ fans this year when i started my dbz liveblog, and god i can't believe i've been missing out on this gold all these years. y'all's stuff is so funny, i'm looking forward to more episodes of HFIL and i can't wait to watch all of DBZA once i can!
