From his heart & soul to ours ! Such a talent, such emotion and depth ! First heard Neil singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ when I was 7 back in the late 60’s. I’ve been hooked ever since. Each of hIs songs gave me such strength at various times in my life when I needed them most. Every one of his songs came along at a time when I could identify with them the most ! ‘I am…. I said’ has a great significance in my life even now 40 years after a tragic event nearly destroyed me. Lori, thanks for putting this video together and sharing it with all of us ! Beautiful! And Neil, thank you, thank you, thank YOU !

To see how Neil was in his youth is cute! He was full of passion and depth from the very beginning. Thanks for sharing the fantastic pics 😍. I am... I said is one of his most iconic song and this version is great 🎼🎵🎤🎸🎶

It's always nice to hear Neil Diamond sing i have been listening to him since the 60s and never get tired of him but now i get to watch him on my computer and still love him .
This is probably best verse of the song I've heard. Whatever the verse is one can absolutely enjoy the best of simple music. What a legend!? & thank you!.
OMG I' m in love with this super fantastic singer, I wish I can attend to one of his concerts. Neil even if you are mature, you are Hot. Age is just a #. 🎼🎸🎙❤
Such a fabulous version. He expresses that sometimes lonely voice in our heads, exactly. And only his voice will match those thoughts. I can never stop loving Neil Diamond.

. . . Hello William , Yes - I and , no doubt so very many others know all too well about such loss intertwined and indeed, embalmed in Neil's word's and music. For myself, I recall so very clearly returning home on a warm Saturday afternoon, 7th June 1975 having saved up for several weeks to buy - the greatest live album of them all ... 'HOT AUGUST NIGHT'. I was 14 and had just really delved deep into that masterwork as my elder brother had borrowed it from a friend for the month earlier. Life changing in every way. My dear, late mum took one look at the cover - we all know that great picture of Neil, 'lost in song'. And with.such long hair - dismissed it . And then she heard it playing, never loudly although sides 1 and 4 need to be(!) ... and she was well and truly a 'DIAMONDHEAD' ! The 'Serenade' album followed in August '75 and 'Stones' in October of that year and then 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull ' in March of '76. The quiet dark that we both shared on both winter nights with only the ambiance and warmth of a log fire to admire ... whilst Neil played to us in our shared still. School days at breakfast time would be to the sound of 'HOT AUGUST NIGHT' such was her love for this incomparable artist- in every way. Took her to see hi at that hangar of an arena, the now demolished 'Earls Court in London, June 28th 1984; he played 8 nights to 23,000 each night. And then to the N.E.C. in Birmingham on November 12th 1989. It was a six hour drive each way from our (far) north of England home ... but so, so very special. The next day she was almost unable to talk - such was Neil's DEPTH of connection. Very, very sadly she died most unexpectedly early November '90, and I could not listen to those records for 5 and more years. Neil came to play within a couple of hours of our hometown at Newcastle and Glasgow and Manchester over 30 times in the following 3 decades - I saw him 27 in total , even made it to The Greek Theatre myself in August '12 for the last two concerts of five that Neil performed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ' HOT AUGUST NIGHT ' - 37 year-held dream come true ! ... Thank 'I.G.' in London - you know who you are. Those two concert dates were '23rd & 25th' of August. 'HOT AUGUST NIGHT' was recorded on the '24th' of August - 'S e r e n d i p i t y' at play ...or what ? All be well .
@@donaldcook3112 Donald, thank you for your beautifully written reply. My mother was from London, so I felt some kind of connection. My Granddad built Spitfires and She had stories of watching the war descend on London. I was born in London, Ontario Canada, in ‘57. My parents moved to Southern California when I was 2. My mom and a friend of hers went to see Diamond at the Greek, but I never did. I did see the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform Jonathan Livingston Seagull at the Hollywood Bowl, and was obsessed with that album for awhile after. It’s funny, but I’ve never looked at a seagull the same! Your memory is so much more precise than mine. I’m sad to say that those years come back to me thru a (pot) Smokey cloud . These days I spend some evenings cruising thru TH-cam videos and I never pass up a Neil Diamond song or interview. Thanks for writing, you stirred my memory. Bill Roberts. P.S., heading over to iTunes to buy Hot August Night

@@donaldcook3112 Hi Donald, It would have been the mid eighties, and she went with a girlfriend, wouldn’t that be a coincidence! I didn’t keep count, but I must have seen 50 or 60 concerts between 1975 and 85. I’ve always thought the one concert , my favorite band, The Who, was the only one I missed. But right now I’m feeling sorry for myself for not making it to one of Diamonds shows. I have no idea how many times I’ve watched ‘The Jazz Singer’ , but I’m gonna look online for that too. The contrast between our generation and our parents, vs. today’s generations is staggering, not only in the quality of music, but in character. None of these people would have survived WWll.
