Like all of the songs that Neil Diamond sang at 1972 Hot August Night, he delivered "Morningside" with extra soul and passion! When he said the words " we will do things for you that you will not forget for a while", he wasn't kidding. It's been almost 47 years now, and I haven't forgotten that night... Excellent job with the pictures, Doug, they really compliment this great song...

My Ex Husband died a few weeks ago. He heard "Be" from Jonathan Jonathan Livingston Seagull in his last days. We played that song long ago. I only hope that Neil Diamond knows how much his music has affected so many lives. Even in their deaths. XOXOXO

This song I play a lot now, I am 78 yrs old and I very seldom hear from kids or grand kids. But this song helps remember when they were little and I saw them everyday.

This song is not a fantasy for me. My grandfather made a wonderful great long table for his whole family to fit around. and we all did. I was just a baby, but I remember it well. As an adult, I asked my Aunt Mildred what happened to it? She told me her brother got rid of it when my grandfather had died. My heart sank. I would have given ANYTHING to have it with the precious memories of my family around it when I was just a baby. If my grandfather could have only known how much I cherished it and the memory of my elder family all now gone. The song is his epetaph...his granddaughter loves and misses him & the table he made . Maybe it will be in heaven??

This song brought back some bittersweet memories💔 as an airforce medic in the ER room, I was on duty 1 cold night when I saw an old man in a wheelchair all alone in the back yard wiping away tears. I went out to see if he was ok and offered him a nice warm blanket from the warmer and as I was putting the blanket around his shoulders he mumbled something about his boys that I didn't quite understood so I asked what about your boys and what he said tore my heart and made me cried. He said he has 2 grown boys that don't have time to visit him in the hospital. He said he wasn't the best father but he made sure his boys were never hungry and always warm and he thought he did well being a single dad. We became best friends for the next 2 days and early morning of the next day he died in the wheelchair💔🙏😊 Love is a beautiful thing but only if shared..💝🙏

It is a shame that there is no live tape of his 1972 Hot August Night concert. I was there the night they recorded it for the record. It is a concert that I will never forget. I was in college then and now I am 69 years old. I have been to more than 10 of his concerts. The first concert, my girlfriend at the time, went too was in Phoenix AZ at ASU's Wells Fargo arena. I married her and we had 43 years of a wonderful wife before I lost her to cancer. Our love song was Play Me. I was her moon and she was my sun. I wish we could see Neil in concert one more time. I have played the recording at least 1000 plus times. It is my favorite album. I can relate to so many of his songs.

I grew up with the music of Neil Diamond. My parents are great fans of Neil. Neil was extremely popular in the 70's. I was born in 77. Wonder if my parents would admit that they named me after this music genius? LOL!!!!! Funny how I am a great admirer of his music writing genius. The Saddest Song Neil ever wrote and has so much truth among a many that are dying. I've worked in a Hospital Med/Surg, Geriatric, PCU/ICU Floors and many years in the E.D. Whenever I think of my father dying and how we reconciled before that I always seem to find myself listening to this song and realize how much we both could have lost. I thank God we were able to express our love before he passed.

I first heard this song in 1972. Neil Diamond was performing at the Minnesota State Fair. Tickets were $3.50. There were plenty of unsold seats. Neil Diamond invited everyone to come up to the stage to meet him. My brother took a Polaroid picture of Mr. Diamond that he later had blown up to a poster size. That year I went into the seminary. Things didn't go well. When I came home and married a few years later, I wrote Neil Diamond a letter. But he was too successful then and he never read it. Years later, I got to know Johnny Cash. He was a great guy. Then I worked with Prince for a number of years. His photographer is a close friend of mine. He just published a book of photographs. The last time I went to a Neil Diamond concert in the early 80's, it turns out the tickets I purchased we're stolen. My wife and I were escorted out of the Civic Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. I've always loved his music and his voice. Life is strange.

I love, and am so sad, when I hear this song. My good ex who I am still friends with after being divorced more than 30 years, is an excellent wood worker, and has made many piece of furniture for me and for his kids and my daughter, who is is step daughter he raised from age 2. And I'm just so afraid that when he passes, none of the kids will appreciate all the beautiful items of furniture he has made.

I heard this for the first time in 1986. It did bring a yoyo to my throat, albeit my own Dad was very much a part of my life. I am now father to 4 lovely adult children.I have heard this great song many a times over the last 3.5 decades.....this song still brings a yoyo to my throat.

My father died alone at 59 yrs old.....1971. We just had our 1st born. I was late getting to the hospital so walking into his hospital room, I was confused. "Where's my dad". A nurse said he just died. How can I ever get pass this?

I am 66 years young now. It has been a pleasure to grow up alongside Neil's music. So many great songs. One of the few singers around that can sound just as good live, as when recorded. Morningside has always been one of my favourites by Neil. Just like the old man in the song, Neil has carefully made this song with beautiful words and music. One can never tire of Neil Diamond. Only other singer on a par with Neil is Roy Orbison.

my dad was the maker of things so wonderful. when he passed we spent more time laughing at a life time of antics and less crying.. he didn't die alone.. the family was there every minute but it reminds me of my dad..i spent nights in the hospital holding his hand and talking about all the things he had done for his family. my son in law is now the maker of wonderful things and follows in his footsteps.. keep everything in your heart.. nothing should be forgotten

Like all of the songs that Neil Diamond sang at 1972 Hot August Night, he delivered "Morningside" with extra soul and passion! When he said the words " we will do things for you that you will not forget for a while", he wasn't kidding. It's been almost 47 years now, and I haven't forgotten that night... Excellent job with the pictures, Doug, they really compliment this great song...

But this song helps remember when they were little and I saw them everyday.

This song is not a fantasy for me. My grandfather made a wonderful great long table for his whole family to fit around. and we all did. I was just a baby, but I remember it well. As an adult, I asked my Aunt Mildred what happened to it? She told me her brother got rid of it when my grandfather had died. My heart sank. I would have given ANYTHING to have it with the precious memories of my family around it when I was just a baby. If my grandfather could have only known how much I cherished it and the memory of my elder family all now gone. The song is his epetaph...his granddaughter loves and misses him & the table he made . Maybe it will be in heaven??

This song brought back some bittersweet memories💔 as an airforce medic in the ER room, I was on duty 1 cold night when I saw an old man in a wheelchair all alone in the back yard wiping away tears. I went out to see if he was ok and offered him a nice warm blanket from the warmer and as I was putting the blanket around his shoulders he mumbled something about his boys that I didn't quite understood so I asked what about your boys and what he said tore my heart and made me cried. He said he has 2 grown boys that don't have time to visit him in the hospital. He said he wasn't the best father but he made sure his boys were never hungry and always warm and he thought he did well being a single dad. We became best friends for the next 2 days and early morning of the next day he died in the wheelchair💔🙏😊 Love is a beautiful thing but only if shared..💝🙏

This song brings me to tears everytime I listen to it. It was my father's favorite song. His greatest fear was that he was going to die alone. When he did pass, he was not alone and he was so very happy that he wasn't.

It is a shame that there is no live tape of his 1972 Hot August Night concert. I was there the night they recorded it for the record. It is a concert that I will never forget. I was in college then and now I am 69 years old. I have been to more than 10 of his concerts. The first concert, my girlfriend at the time, went too was in Phoenix AZ at ASU's Wells Fargo arena. I married her and we had 43 years of a wonderful wife before I lost her to cancer. Our love song was Play Me. I was her moon and she was my sun. I wish we could see Neil in concert one more time. I have played the recording at least 1000 plus times. It is my favorite album. I can relate to so many of his songs.

He had this to say in _"I’ve always regretted not filming the Hot August Night concert in ‘72, an album so pivotal in my career."_ Guess in those days, videos weren't a "big thing".

I grew up with the music of Neil Diamond. My parents are great fans of Neil. Neil was extremely popular in the 70's. I was born in 77. The Saddest Song Neil ever wrote and has so much truth among a many that are dying. I've worked in a Hospital Med/Surg, Geriatric, PCU/ICU Floors and many years in the E.D. (Clinicals also in a Nursing Home too). This Song always bring Tears & many Memories of our Elderly Population and how they are Mistreated, Ignored and Forgotten. Please DO NOT Forget these Treasures of Knowledge and Love!

Whenever I think of my father dying and how we reconciled before that I always seem to find myself listening to this song and realize how much we both could have lost. I thank God we were able to express our love before he passed.

I first heard this song in 1972. Neil Diamond was performing at the Minnesota State Fair. Tickets were $3.50. There were plenty of unsold seats. Neil Diamond invited everyone to come up to the stage to meet him. My brother took a Polaroid picture of Mr. Diamond that he later had blown up to a poster size. That year I went into the seminary. Things didn't go well. When I came home and married a few years later, I wrote Neil Diamond a letter. But he was too successful then and he never read it. Years later, I got to know Johnny Cash. He was a great guy. Then I worked with Prince for a number of years. His photographer is a close friend of mine. He just published a book of photographs. The last time I went to a Neil Diamond concert in the early 80's, it turns out the tickets I purchased we're stolen. My wife and I were escorted out of the Civic Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. I've always loved his music and his voice. Life is strange.

I love, and am so sad, when I hear this song. My good ex who I am still friends with after being divorced more than 30 years, is an excellent wood worker, and has made many piece of furniture for me and for his kids and my daughter, who is is step daughter he raised from age 2. And I'm just so afraid that when he passes, none of the kids will appreciate all the beautiful items of furniture he has made.

I heard this for the first time in 1986. It did bring a yoyo to my throat, albeit my own Dad was very much a part of my life. I am now father to 4 lovely adult children.I have heard this great song many a times over the last 3.5 decades.....this song still brings a yoyo to my throat.

The best I can describe it is: Forever in Blue jeans was my 1st ND love.....so like you I was listening to h im in the late 70's early 80s...then I saw HIS version of The Jazz Singer.....and THAT is when it finally clicked for me WHAT Neil Diamond was/is :)

My father died alone at 59 yrs old.....1971. We just had our 1st born. I was late getting to the hospital so walking into his hospital room, I was confused. "Where's my dad". A nurse said he just died. How can I ever get pass this?

I am 66 years young now. It has been a pleasure to grow up alongside Neil's music. So many great songs. One of the few singers around that can sound just as good live, as when recorded.
Morningside has always been one of my favourites by Neil. Just like the old man in the song, Neil has carefully made this song with beautiful words and music.
One can never tire of Neil Diamond. Only other singer on a par with Neil is Roy Orbison.

Ever the perfectionist, he held back on recording it as it gnawed at him... that something... then he found it! the missing word/element was *"Home".* This he felt, rightly so, completed the song. my dad was the maker of things so wonderful. when he passed we spent more time laughing at a life time of antics and less crying.. he didn't die alone.. the family was there every minute but it reminds me of my dad..i spent nights in the hospital holding his hand and talking about all the things he had done for his family. my son in law is now the maker of wonderful things and follows in his footsteps.. keep everything in your heart.. nothing should be forgotten
