Christopher Chambers I turned forty last month, and I know in the scope of things I'm still young, but some days I feel older than the hills. My mom is a Neil Diamond fanatic, so I was brought up right. I knew the words to most of his songs by ten years old.
Born in 55 I was so lucky to have grown up with this music. In 69 I worked at a Texaco station I was 14 worked full-time in summer. I was paid 1.25 per hour the minimum wage at that time.

I feel your pain. My parents divorced in 1992 and I never had a relationship with my dad after that but I did speak to him briefly before he died. I often watch the old war movies by myself and remember a time as a kid that he would make me watch them with him, so that I could translate (he was a Greek migrant with limited English). But I digress. We had a next door neighbour called Pat. Salt of the earth, she was. Her husband was openly carrying on an affair with her best friend and in her hours of grief and loneliness, she would play Neil Diamond and I could hear her crying from next door. She died of a heart attack but each time I listen to Neil, I think of Pat. Neil's songs speak to us is so many ways.
His music was a solace for me when I was young. I survived a lot of abuse, and clung to these songs. Even in writing my stories, Neil was the model for the God of Music in the fantasy stories I was writing.

Tyrone Hunter Sorry, I found her 52 years ago! I was lucky enough to finally see Neil in concert last October in London just before he announced he was to stop touring due to ill health. The best concert ever, EVER! Thank you for the music , Neil. I wish you well for the future.
Would love to meet the man who helped me through every emotional state in my life with his beautiful music. If I fought with my wife you eased it, if I had a bad day at work, your music fixed it, If i just wanted to enjoy the day you made it. Love you Neil
My thoughts exactly...You wrote in just a few lines what I felt since first listening to him back in 1964 when I was 10 years old. And as a 65 year old man today. His music still inspires more today then when I was a 10 year old boy. Priceless!
I would have loved to have seen him in person also. When I was down, I put on one of his 33 1/3’s and felt better. Many a night I listened to him as I fell asleep. His lyrics are passionate, poetic, meaningful. They are ‘personal’ to so many! 🥰☺️
Production value. When Neil Diamond truly grabbed a song, as he has done repeatedly, the production value was quintessential, always quintessential, and his voice lifted as an angel. Suzanne is my all time favorite.
This is true music; delivered by an outstanding artist whose music sounds as good now as it did so many years ago. I just love it even as we approach 2018!
Like many of his songs, this brought me to tears. I’ve seen him live about twelve times. I’ve loved him for so many years. Long after he’s gone I will still listen to him and I will still cry.
I love this song. I love the way Neil describes himself and lover as objects of nature. "I am the moon you are sun" You're the words and I am the music Play me" His woman has moved him. I just love this song....I cry because it is so beautiful.
Absolutely love this song. It is so calming. The sweet lyrics, Neil's voice, and background music take me back to a time long ago when I was much younger. Such wonderful memories.
Yes, an extraordinarily beautiful song. Reminds me of the great Russian pair skaters who came to Babson before the 1980 olympics They practiced to this and other songs of Neil Diamonds album

The first time I heard this song. I was 19 and My father passed two years before and I felt so alone and this song would soothe my broken nerves and ease my stress
I've been listening to Neil for my entire life I do not remember time when his music wasn't being played growing up in the 70's. I have passed my love of him to my own son and I believe the trend will continue for all time. IMO the greatest singer/songwriter of all time. Love Love Love
Neil Diamond was a special part of my life especially in the early 1970s! He played guitar & sang tunes that were just right in their softness, lyric beauty, & upbeat tempo. It was like audio sunshine ....... he swept loneliness away like an ocean wave clears the air. His music soothes multiple generations -- it speaks to us in some kind of wonderful universal context. Way to go, my friend! * Cav in OR *
40 years ago I was a student in Paris and I had the chance te become aware of this music (I am from Cameroon) I lived alone in a small room (chambre de bonne) and spent much of my purse to buy albums by Neil Diamond... I have nerver forgotten that time that I felt happy even though i did not have enough money to live
this is one of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL songs of my Life I have Ever heard... I am a true 70s gal, and I grew up listening to Greats like Neil, one of my all time FAV singer/songwriters/guitarists... he is Timeless... smiles. simpler times...
I've always loved Neil. I don't listen to his music often, but it's a love that will never go away. This has long been a favorite. He knows how to tug at the heart and make you cry!
When I was young I liked Neil Diamond, but the later years I became to fully appreciate his music and the lyrics. He is simply beautiful and I thank God that he gave us Neil. What a voice! I hope his final years are not very hurtful with his Parkinson's disease.
We saw Neil on his 50th tour when he played this song it brought tears to my eyes. Best concert I have ever been too!!! What a huge talent! That made music that will forever stand the test of time.
My Dad loved this song and often sang along with it back in the 70's. I was driving to work on the highway right near the cemetery he's buried at and this song came on. I just lost it. I hadn't heard it in a long time. What a great song ! Love the guitar in it.
I cried when he played this in concert. I then cried every song until the end. I couldn’t stop. He is that amazing. This was at his last tour. I love and adore him.
I fell in love with Neil Diamond since I was 10 years old....I love his music, his talent his spiritual essence on all his song's lyrics....a fantastic voice.
I first heard this song as a little boy when it was featured in a commercial for 101.9 Lite FM in Baltimore. They used it for years and I always thought it was a great song, even though I was into Def Leppard and The Smiths at the time. Those bands are still cool, but Neil Diamond is at another level and I now share him with my kids.
Every time I hear a Neil Diamond song, he takes me to a happy place. When Sweet Caroline comes on it makes a person just want to get up and dance and have a great time doing it! Neil Diamond is the best!
This was a personal favorite of my grandmother's. Just last night, this song came on the radio and my mother (also a huge Neil Diamond fan) turned it up. I hadn't heard this song in years, possibly since my grandmother was still alive 3-4 years ago. In that instant, my eyes swelled with tears and I had to excuse myself from the room. Such utter nostalgia this song carries.
It's like, when a singer/song writer first introduces their song, it must be like taking a part of their soul and exposing it to the world... Like Neil Diamond!
Ahhh... this song really touches my heart. Neil Diamond has an incredible gift of talent and heart. To write and sing that really describes what we all feel and how we feel. I have loved Neil Diamond and his music since I first heard him sing back in the 80's it seems like. He is such an icon and inspiration to me and still is. I am so thankful to live in the era and to have experienced his music. He is simply one of the best! :-D
This guy has always been my favourite since childhood in the early eighties....Play me. A beautiful song sung by a handsome man with a beautiful voice...woow
Just love this music, always have. Makes me feel like getting out on the open road and travelling somewhere. I dont care what Bill Murray thinks, LOL, I'm in that portion of the crowd that loves Neil Diamond, a fan forever.
every time I listen to this song, it brings back memories of the innocent and care free days of living in Thailand back in the early 80s when I was 14 years old. How easy life was back in those days...
I was watching this new tv show called Fleishman is in Trouble and they played this song while showing flashbacks of a couple's relationship. I couldn't get it out of my head, how could I have forgotten how beautiful it is.
+Michael Walker I COMPLETELY AGREE! my grandmother is the same age as him and LOVES HIM! she took my father to his concert in sydney. then she took me to his concert in newcastle a few years ago. and he was my first CONCERT and i... JUST LOVE HIM LIVE.

Irish bread and tea at the ripe old age of 5 -15 yrs old. Brings a very warm feeling to my wounded heart and soul. I will always love my NANA different than any human ive ever known
I've loved ND for over 40 years and I never heard this song before. My boyfriend sang this to me several months ago and I listen to it every time I come on TH-cam..... LOVE IT!!!
I am more of a heavy metal listener, but this is the best love song ever recorded, I'll throw this out there as I love Stevie Nicks, I can easily see them doing this as a duet.
On the first album (Hot August Night) I ever bought and I enjoy listening to it every bit as much today. The guy is a genius and there is something really special about listening to singers who wrote their own songs performing them live.

I'm so happy
40 years ago I was a student in Paris and I had the chance te become aware of this music (I am from Cameroon) I lived alone in a small room (chambre de bonne) and spent much of my purse to buy albums by Neil Diamond... I have nerver forgotten that time that I felt happy even though i did not have enough money to live
I so can understand what you describe. I miss the hungry years, as we call them. I was a student in England. broke yet so happy. so long ago!
it is the music and the words that calm the soul and fill the heart with longing.
Well said.
ralph lane you explain it well

I've always loved Neil. I don't listen to his music often, but it's a love that will never go away. This has long been a favorite. He knows how to tug at the heart and make you cry!
Dellani Oakes: Yeah... he/Neil duz know how to bring deep emotion up from our soul.
Jennifer Lawerence has nothing to do with this video. She is trying to take credit for this video that I uploaded. I am deleting all of her comments.
When I was young I liked Neil Diamond, but the later years I became to fully appreciate his music and the lyrics. He is simply beautiful and I thank God that he gave us Neil. What a voice! I hope his final years are not very hurtful with his Parkinson's disease.
Amaising voice, beautiful song with such wonderful lyrics!!!!❤
Powerful voice, wonderful instrumentals, great composition. Neil's voice is therapeutic, just amazingly soothing.
Perfect by any standard! I shall be listening to this to the end of time! Greetings to all! From Botswana!

Hello!
My father loved listening the Neil Diamond…he pasted it on too me much love an respect too my Father 💯👊🏾
This song is so beautiful. It gives me goosebumps every time. I think I'd play this at my wedding.
I cried when he played this in concert. I then cried every song until the end. I couldn’t stop. He is that amazing. This was at his last tour. I love and adore him.
Glad I wasn't sitti,g near YOU. CORN EATER
I fell in love with Neil Diamond since I was 10 years old....I love his music, his talent his spiritual essence on all his song's lyrics....a fantastic voice.
I've been in love with him since I was six or seven!!! His music made my heart as it is now. Would love to tell you that in person Mr. Diamond.
어느덧 세월이 흘러 우리는 6070세대가 되었습니디 20대 Nell diamond 음악에서 자주듣고 좋아하던 음악인데 지금껏 듣고 있다는게 새롭고 불멸의 음악이네요
Neil is a musical master and this is one of the greatest of his memorable gifts. hi in 2020!
Just a beautiful song; I've always loved that guitar solo.
me too. I tried so hard to learn it too, way back when....😎
Neil got me thru some rough times.
What a songwriter, what a voice.
Neil Diamond at his best. So simple. So beautiful. So soothing.
You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me..
What a beautiful song! ❤
What a beautiful song. One of the best by Neil, and there are so many to choose from.
What more could a woman want Mantwa..
Yes I rember singing his songs in jrhigh choir
Greastest album ever..."Hot August Night at the Greek Theater". His music almost seems angelical.
+Manuel Saldivar (Manny) I've always felt God must be inside Mr. Diamond to write and sing so close to the soul as he does. What talent!!!
You are so right, well said
Agreed, the soundtrack of my growing up in the 70's
Missing my Mom...Grandma...Grandpa...friends...Aunts...Uncles...cousins....Lord Save Us. Music is the key of life.
This is a movement. An experience. Niel Diamond wrote from the soul and sang from the place where we live.
How easy life was back in those days...
been there interesting place
Amo todas as músicas do Neil Diamond. Que voz suave e maravilhosa!
I was watching this new tv show called Fleishman is in Trouble and they played this song while showing flashbacks of a couple's relationship. I couldn't get it out of my head, how could I have forgotten how beautiful it is.
His voice is beautiful and his looks are perfection! He can play me!!🥰
Man oh man... What guy wouldn't want to have a voice like Mr. Diamond's? Greatness!!!
You NEED to Neil see him live. Awesome the only negative thing I can say about his live performances is that it ends.

Cette CHANSON est SUBLIME. MERCI à mon PAPA de me l'avoir fait découvrir lorsque j'étais encore toute petite. Elle m'a accompagnée tout au long de ma VIE.
Wow. What a song! Just brings back so many memories!
My name is Liam Higgins im from boston. Im 44yrs old and these ND songs bring back the best memories of sitting in the kitchen w my Nana Higgins ( she was Sacred) as a very young kid. Irish bread and tea at the ripe old age of 5 -15 yrs old. Brings a very warm feeling to my wounded heart and soul. I will always love my NANA different than any human ive ever known
love the lyrics and love neil Diamond with that amazing voice!!!
I've loved ND for over 40 years and I never heard this song before. My boyfriend sang this to me several months ago and I listen to it every time I come on TH-cam..... LOVE IT!!!
Does anyone know who the two women are in the video?
The first album I bought was Hot August Night. Never get tired of listening to this song. Beautiful lyrics and music.
I bought the Hot August Night too and wore it out had to buy it a 2nd time, another great album "Love at The Greek" love both albums.
I am more of a heavy metal listener, but this is the best love song ever recorded, I'll throw this out there as I love Stevie Nicks, I can easily see them doing this as a duet.
Neil's performance and interpretation are Perfect but also the arrangement is awesome, especially the strings.
Heart and Soul in his songs....love him such an original ❤
On the first album (Hot August Night) I ever bought and I enjoy listening to it every bit as much today. The guy is a genius and there is something really special about listening to singers who wrote their own songs performing them live.
“I don't know what's worse: to not know what you are and be happy, or to
become what you've always wanted to be, and feel alone.”
Special Song Love Neil Diamond, so sad I never got to see him in Concert. Thank You for sharing .
As beautiful as 40 years ago. :) Cecile from South Africa
