YES! YES!! YES!!! Thank you for doing a reaction to Frida's solo hit. As other commenters have said, Frida was a member of the supergroup ABBA. This was her first international solo hit after ABBA, and it was produced by the legendary Phil Collins who you can hear singing on background vocals. Thank you again! I'm so happy you found this song!

I think that it's a bit more sinister. The last few scenes seem to show the husband and his mistress spying, and watching the wife, and the husband pays the photographer. I think that they are really trying to fuck with her mind. It seems to me that they aren't merely having an affair. They are trying to break her.

    • @Lisa-M
      @Lisa-M 3 ปีที่แล้ว

But it is also possible, that they have an affair and the husband knows that she has paid the photographer and so he also pays the same photographer to make exactly these photos she should see, so that she will breakup with him and he is free for his affair.

Anni-Frid kicking off the dust from ABBA and two timing Benny. She went on to marry a Real Prince and now she's "Princess Reuss and Countess of Plauen". Not bad for an orphan girl born to a teen unwed mother. Frida was and is a real class act.

This came out about the time my mom and my step dad were breaking up. My mom looked very much like Frida, similar coloring, build and style. She cut her waist length curls to this style with some European Highlights.
So when I would watch this I think I thought my stepdad might be more of a villain than he was. Or maybe he was sketchy. Mom never said. She just reinvented herself and everyone came out better. Including him.

Great video review! That whole album is chock full of great songs. Brought it when it first came out in '82 and had it on my turntable for weeks on end...Threnody and I See Red are two of my favorites. All her solo albums are great! Her last one from '96 is amazing. It's in swedish but don't let that discourage you from exploring it. there's an amazingly moving video of "Aven en Blomma" that reflects her own real life. (translation: Even a flower)...If you think this was emotional, check that one out. it's one of the best videos EVER.

I have to say this makes me feel old, I was 20 when this came out, one of the first music videos I saw on MTV when Memphis first got it in '82, this was one of the hottest videos and songs from that year, I almost forgot back then that Frida was a member of ABBA. I still play this song all the time and still love the video. I'm glad they are both still around for the next generations to see. BTW her name is Anni-Frid Lyngstad and they called her Frida , and her group ABBA is one of the most successful pop groups in music history, 300 million albums sold worldwide.

ABBA The Articles:Story December 1982 Agnetha and Frida:"Because of ABBA,our marriages failed":
Frida said in 1982 in this article:"Some time after that,I discovered that Benny had an affair with the 37-year-old TV-presenter Mona Norklit and from that time onwards he didn't come home at all anymore".
Phil Collins wrote some stories in his own book:In a way,Frida was fragile, the divorce still echoes. Once finished the album, Stig Andersson invites everyone for a dinner at his home. When we arrive, he's completely drunk. We listenned to "Something's Going On" and, at the end, Stig asks:
    - Is this everything?
Frida cries and we want to spank him. I'm with my gang - all the Genesis' roadies are there, including the strong one Geoff Banks, who has the suggestive nickname "Bison". Everyone of us ended up in love with this simpathetic woman and want to protect her. But the coldest, more sober and less scandinavian minds are the majority, so we leave the place, although Stig's answer have ruined the whole night.

after it was released in august 1982 i was so surprised, HOW good it was, after ABBA. i listened to it hundreds of times, and i loved to hear it real loud :-). sadly her solo career struggeled after that, especially on the international market. but this single did great on the charts: no.1 Switzerland, no.5 Germany, no.3 Sweden and Austria, no.13 USA, only no.43 UK. The album went to no.1 in Sweden, no.10 Austria, no.12 Germany, no.18 UK and no. 41 USA. She just had one more no.1 album in Sweden (Djupa andetag ) in 1996. 2018 she sang "Andante Andante" (Original:ABBA) on the album "Ultimate Duets" from Arturo Sandoval.

India, check out Level 42 "Something About You", or Double` (doo-blay) "Captain Of Her Heart", or Suzanne Vega "98.6 F degrees" or "Luka", or Swing Out Sister "Break Out", or Samatha Fox "Touch Me".
A while back you reacted to the Smithereens; similar to them might I suggest Midnight Oil "Blue Sky Mine" or "Beds Are Burning".
By the way, this is Frida's solo work after ABBA, much the same way Alison Moyet released some solo work after Yazoo (aka. Yaz), as did Belinda Carlile after the GoGo's.

You could do a bunch of great reactions just on the songs written by Russ Ballard.

I'm old so I remember when this was new but seeing the video again cracked me up like Frida was on some serious stalker shit lol
I don't know what the solution to heartbreak is but hiding in the bushes is not the answer, you ain't gonna find no peace like that.
And you know after the video ends she went home, poured the bleach all over his clothes and turned his PlayStation into a fire station lol

I think this was her only big solo hit after her and the rest of ABBA split, but I could be wrong on that. Someone correct me if I am please.

I remember seeing this music video on MTV in early-1982, shortly after the breakup of ABBA. It was a good music video, and a well-crafted song. It is a bit of a shame, in my opinion, that there were not more good songs like this recorded by ABBA. Yes, ABBA had a lot of Pop Rock hits, but their body of work,, for the most part, does not stand the test of time, in my opinion.

I never realized until several years later that she was singer in ABBA.
