An easy way to get wax off items is to put it in the freezer for a bit. The wax will either just fall out or crumble... saves a lot of work. :)
I enjoyed watching you stage the items you purchased! I was born in 1961 and never a fan of Mid-Century Modern, even as a kid. I always preferred houses, furniture, and decor from the 1800s to early 1900s, but your tasteful displays make items I would never buy for myself look good. Thanks for sharing your finds in this way. 😊

A brass, Morrocan tray would look fabulous on the table
I use a wooden cup holder to display my non- stretch bracelets. I enjoy just looking at them.
Glass top looks fantastic on that table! Marble would detract from the beautiful chairs!

I was hoping to see one while in Costa Rica! They’re such beautiful birds. We went to one area where they are common to see but sadly didn’t end up seeing one. How amazing that you get to see them in Guatemala!
The glass plate for the table is perfect because you can see through and have a lock at the marvelous legs. I wouldn't change it.
A brass tray would look wonderful on that folding table top. So warm.

Yes! I thought exactly this - the glass shows the detail of the beautiful carving ❤️
I also liked the idea of the glass so you can see the table. It's difficult to decide what would look best because the table blends in with the rug, so you end up paying more attention to the rug. I think this table stand originally had a large engraved brass tray as the top.
Laura I have the table with its top. The top is a copper tray, mine is vintage and from Turkey.

Laura - thank you for all you do in educating us on vintage. My mom turns 80 next week & her style is Mid Century Modern. I have learned that I love that style as well. Living in Greeley CO our estate sales & thrift shops are amazing. I am filling my forever home with treasures I find & sometimes refinishing MCM furniture that I get for a steal. I love the stores in your area. Most Goodwill in Charlotte suck. They hardly have shelves with home and decor. Love everything you find.
the little table you got is typically used with a brass tray in the Middle East... and you love brass!

The "Scandinavian" platter is, I believe, a Pennsylvania Dutch distelfink (a stylized goldfinch) pattern.

You might come across a brass tray for that folding table, which it likely had originally. Of course, if you prefer marble or another stone and the table can take the weight, go for it.
The folding stand probably had an embossed brass tray, it looks as if it should be a " Tiffin tray should be on top. Love your style. All the best Sandra x

Hi Laura..Don't people normally look up what like items sold for - listed for and sold for could be quite different when trying to determine what an item may be worth? Of course if you are loving it, it'll be priceless lol!
I do a combination of both 😁 There are many ways to determine pricing and knowing your shoppers is also a super important factor 🙌

You are right, Laura -- sake containers do not have a lid, although as other viewers have suggested, they can be repurposed with a spout for pouring. The larger traditional sets usually come with five cups. Very nice find.

Thanks! Yes, I’m definitely making an effort to broaden my items in my vintage shop and expand my reach with design. I don’t ever want to feel limited or restricted I guess and I realized last year I had done that to myself 😂 It’s so fun to try new things 😁
My family was stationed in Japan for three years in the mid to late 1960’s. I have always wanted to return as it is such a wonderful culture. (We were also stationed in Morocco and Thailand.)

My son made a clipboard for me, exactly like that one in Woodshop class, when he was a sophomore in high school. He is now 40 years old. I guess it's now vintage. I still use it.
Hi. I have a butter dish like that and I use it at parties of 4 to 6 people for chocolate covered berries. Strawberries raspberries and blackberries. It is just perfect to be able to keep it on the table so that after dinner we don’t have to leave the table to get dessert. Kind of bougie . Lol The ice keeps the berries perfectly. 🌺

Since finding your channel I have a greater appreciation for the vintage items you find in all your shopping (I should, I grew up in the 50's and 60's); things I would never have given a second look. I'm at an age where I don't want more in my life, but if I were to find a really special piece I feel as though I have a better eye for seeing it now. I enjoy your enthusiasm for life and what you do! I hope you keep this up for a long, long time, Laura!

I found one of those Joseph Kovecses Wood Ikebanas at the Goodwill and purchased it for 6.98.
Put it on Etsy for $135.00 and it sold within fifteen minutes. I regret selling it as I will most likely never find another for that price. As always- your videos are the BEST!

If you put marble in replacement of the glass on top, your guests won't see the beauty of the wood footing. So I believe the glass is the ideal partner for that coffee table footing.

Loving the mug tree; I received an expresso pottery set on a wooden tree is functional and gorgeous. I also have a vintage French metal mug/bottle holder which is great for coffee mugs to hang on or dry on before putting away. Loving this video.
