Great to hear and see that your mom did some(looks like a lot) of junking therapy. That is such good news. You are so blessed to have a Debbie, to help out. I know, for a fact, she is a life saver, I had a cousin, that helped out with my mom.

I quit donating to Goodwill because of the way they are upping all of their prices. Some of the things are marked from Hobby lobby for 19.99 and they’re selling them for 19.00.chances are the customer bought it at 50% off to start out with.
Goodwill is ridiculous with how high their prices are! I have a few church run thrift stores where I live and I usually go there.

Thrift stores have become antique stores and resellers.
I’m in Ohio and our prices have gotten out of control. Who is pricing this stuff. I was at goodwill the other day and I picked up a Ray Dun piece. It didn’t have a price on it so I went up to the counter and asked him to price it. The lady came up and said oh this is a sought-after item anytime we have Ray done. It is top-of-the-line high priced 999. I could go to TJ Maxx and buy it for 599. Why would I ever spend 999 at the thrift store ? I think people that are pricing the stuff are not equipped or knowledgeable enough to price the stuff. I think that’s where the problem begins.
All of the goodwill’s all over the country are getting ridiculous. Because so many people are going in there and buying stuff cheap and reselling it. It’s not really going to people who need the lower prices I was at my local Goodwill. Is they go online and research on eBay and whatever it going for on eBay is what they price it.
I have caught them charging more for an item than the original ticket price. I’ve seen dollar tree items in their price is $2.99 $3.99 all the way up to $5.99

Unfortunately this is what is happening to Goodwill stores across the country. And the sad part of it is I have a friend who worked for Goodwill for a number of years and he said they had warehouses full to the ceiling of stuff. I try not to shop at Goodwill anymore
The Goodwill that you all went to first, it kindof made me angry. I mean, they get ALL OF THESE NICE THINGS DONATED, YES DONATED, AND CHARGE RIDICULOUS PRICES!!!! THAT IS JUST OUT AND OUT GREED!!!! But you SAVED THE DAY at the Salvation Army Stores you and Debbie went to. They were NICE STORES!!!!
Greed is right, then you see tons of stuff that didn't sell and they tossed it to the Goodwill bins. If they would have put better prices on that stuff it would have been sold

Our Goodwills in Colorado are so expensive. I’ve gone to Hobby Lobby and found stuff on sale cheaper. They need to get back to thrift store pricing.
That first store was way over priced, just like my Goodwill. And that broken Ray Dunn piece should have been a dollar not $5 something.

The first thing I thought of when you picked up the wire light fixture was…if you had a smaller dress form you could add it to the bottom (like a skirt) and have it on a long metal rod. You might even have one if you’ve taken a lamp apart. Too cute! Of course, I may have thought of it too because of the wire shoe you found before that. You find some of the neatest stuff in Michigan. I see a lot there that I want that you never touch…lol! So jealous!! The Rae Dunn pieces where I live are starting to go out of style. People are either in love with them or over them. The same with buffalo check. Isn’t it funny how that happens…

I don't understand why Goodwill stores feel the need to set such high prices on soo many of their items.... at one time Goodwill stores was an excellent, economical place to buy clothes dishes, what Nots or whatever... we used to make regular trips to Goodwill....now we seek out more thrift stores run by churches and local charitable organizations....finding great deals. ❤❤
I have stopped going to Goodwill because Im supposed to enjoy thrifting, not getting angry. They are trying to punish resellers and in the process punish people who can’t afford buying. But here in California, I would go to Ross and their prices are better than our Goodwill. I go to Acts and Do Unto Other Christian thrift stores.

@@lifeasweknowit8798 You expect a store with the name of GoodWill to be exactly that. They are already making nearly 100% profit on donated items. One would assume their purpose is to give the rest of us a good bargain whether we are a reseller or not. It's not a bargain if the price is the same or more than a sale price at a regular retail store.oh yeah, they have to pay employees. I could be wrong about it in current times, but the government used to pay half the wages of employees on disability. So that makes their profits on freely donated items pretty good for Goodwill if that's how it still is.

Goodwill does get “free” donations…. Things no one wanted and didn’t want to sell themselves for whatever reason…. BUT goodwill still sells cheaper than you’d find it in stores, and they are paying people to collect, sort, clean, price, shelve, rotate…. Not counting paying cashiers and people to work the floor. (And having worked there for years…. Those people are not getting paid what the job is worth because it is mainly to fund a cause) They rent the building they are in most of the time, and they pay light and water and sewer bills… and it goes to help people in need of education, job skill, child care, etc…. Obviously they sell low enough for resale shops to purchase and Jack of the prices…. For their own profit, not to help needy.

Goodwill has lost their ever loving mind with the prices. It’s like that by me too. I tend to go to the “mom and pop” type thrift stores. Even my Salvation Army thrift store is pricey.

The metal tray that had the water ring you put back, you could’ve put burlap on half of it making a pocket and put florals in it. That would’ve been great for your spring decor! Just burlap and a hanger!
