It's the final heat of The Third Wars - and the final chance for hopeful robots such as Dreadnaut and Rattus Rattus to book their place with the last slot in the Semi-Finals.
Never mind the pronunciation, what a stunning shell of Twn Trwn ! They should have competed in illustrative sculpture rather than sacrifice this art on top of a mediocre robot undercarriage. I had good hopes for Scarab until they experienced why you need bottom armour... Such a shame.
It's been a very long time since I've seen this heat, longer than any other in this series probably, completely forgot most of it... my god this was painful to watch. Nothing worked! Always had a soft spot for Trident though, it's a unique design and the team seem like cool guys. Twn Twrn is stunning to look at, too
They really did save the worst for last with the heats of this series. Not a single robot even remotely impressive. Although SMIDSY would go on to be pretty solid in future series.
There's nothing more dissapointing than a robot getting imobilized before the fight even begins. I think all robots should be doing some sort of test to make sure they can drive
How to Robot Wars: 1.) Come up with a slow and bulky robot with a weapon that couldn't hurt your opponent even if they were made from cardboard 2.) Don't test it, let alone practice driving 3.) Suffer from radio interference until the house robots have to attack someone to keep us from falling asleep.
This heat has to go down as a lowlight of the series. It would've been worth it to see Dreadnaut make the semi finals, noone in this heat would've troubled Chaos 2 in the next round. I think they would've been better off inviting Big Cheese, X Terminator, Behemoth, Berserk 2, King Buxton, Pussycat, Napalm and Cerberus back for a wildcard heat.
Dreadnaut coasting through the heat on a dead draw and a robot that killed itself for them, only to give up the ghost the moment they encountered something halfway functional, absolutely did not deserve to advance.
@@ToaArcan I didn’t say they deserved it, just with all the bad luck they had in the last two series it would’ve been nice to see. Trident had by and by a dead rubber against twn twrn, they hardly annihilated the field either.
I would have loved to have seen Dreadnaut go through. They built decent machines that were controlled and piloted really well, just wioth 1 key problem; it kept breaking down!! - But every time they came back, it was a little more reliable than the last time. It would have been cool to see them in series 5-7!
Scarab's core design was great, could have really done with four wheel drive and stronger tyres to ensure a better grip seeing as the robot was made to perform grab + push tactics.
Please note that the first Semi-Final probably won't be up until Sunday, as my next point of call is to work on the best battles from The Third Wars video.

Craig really thought the 3-wheel part of Trident was the back? And one in the team said it was a common mistake? How? How does anyone ever make that mistake? It's extremely clear that the 3-wheel side should be the front, it'd be surprising any other way.
I thought that the Evil Weevil heat was weak and lacking in good robots, but this is decisively the weakest heat in Series 3, the others don't even come close to how bad this is
Well that first heat was ridiculous. Since when was a house robot allowed to pit a competitor that hadn't actually broken down? Really Rattus Rattus should have lost on damage incurred (since all the damage to Smidsy was done by Dead Metal). Neither bot was going to win the heat but still... (And Philippa thought this was one of the best fights. wtf? We know she's deranged but seriously...) Altogether the least interesting heat. When the highlight is Trident's quick reaction in pushing Victor 2 into the pit (that it had already half fallen into) you know the standard is pretty low. And what the HELL were the house thugbots doing smashing up Trident when Dreadnought had stopped moving? Seriously, what do the stupid house scumbots bring to the series?
Engineering is one thing. Another is driving and controlling. Those (sometimes) well conceived machines behave like drunk and erratic fools going nowhere with over spinning, over steering and suicidal movements. Big muscles with no brain are useless. In many cases, a simple but cleverly controlled pusher with no weapon would do the job.
They should have done seedings for this series. Maybe that would have saved us from this dismal heat. Even the heat final is like a very mediocre round one fight. Shame about SMIDSY, they were good in later series when there wasn't radio interference messing them up. Feel a bit bad for Psychokiller too, looks like they had the same problem.
