  • John Reid comes off the back of his venture to America looking to have success on his home turf now. Killerhurtz will take on the likes of Thing 2, Cerberus and All Torque as it looks to progress to the Semi-Finals

    Aw man! I SO wish Cerberus could have gotten an approved saw into the ring! That was an epic bot!

      @kinagrill 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can make Hardened Steel much less brittle by tossing it in the oven for about 3 hours cuz it resoftens the metal a bit and makes it a lot less fragile. Basically it's tempered a bit that way. Imagine if Cerberus Team had gone with like a drill, so they can bite and pin an enemy and just push in a spikey-drill at the enemy bot and just rip into whatever is behind the shell :p

    • @davidfearis7335
      @davidfearis7335 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And also in Series 4 they came in Over The Weight Restrictions so CERBERUS'S HEAD had to be removed or they would be DISQUALIFIED FOR BEING OVER-WEIGHT

    John Reid was competing in Battlebots. That's why he forgot about the Pit.

    All Torque and Thing should be final, glad to see finally two nicely done and well working robots

  • @cr10001
    @cr10001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    All Torque was certainly impressive in that first fight - speed, control and manouvrability. Almost a precursor to Tornado.
    Surprise of the heat has to be Thing 2. The most absurd, ridiculous-looking bot, with odd dangly bits all over it, the appearance hid the fact that it was a fast manouvrable wedge.
    All Torque vs Thing was by far the best fight in this heat. Very evenly matched, it could have gone either way. Oh, and good sportsmanship from the All Torque team on their loss.

    • @GenericSoda
      @GenericSoda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd argue that Steg-o-Saw-Us was the original Tornado precursor, given it got as far as it did by just smashing into things. Maybe even Vlad could be considered since it got most of its flips with the momentum it got from its speed.
      Loved Thing, very simple machine but every iteration had such loving details put into its design. You can tell the team had fun building it.

    • @cr10001
      @cr10001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GenericSoda OK, good points. And I really liked Thing 2 and its successor Wild Thing, it was always much more effective than it looked.

    What's sad is that Killerhurtz had the potential to win the heat, had it not...done that.
    I actually get Daisy Chopper's point...Griffon did very little to Daisy Chopper itself, and barely moved until its House Robot spree (which started with a collision into the wall, terrible driving)

    • @Headspr0uter
      @Headspr0uter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i think griffon was having control issues towards the end which would explain the lack of movement before the attack on the house robots. they were probably just jamming the control stick before it finally responded, jolting forward into the wall. daisy chopper was a rickety mess, frankly. i think it was completely spent after getting two strikes in because the blade completely stopped spinning.

    Aw a John Reid without the facial hair that he has now while competing with Terrorhurtz!
    And Killerhurtz's axe having a much smaller spike on the end than what its younger brother has now.
    Reid has one of the best axebots out there, Thor and Terrorhurtz proving that those types of fighting robots can still be relevant and deadly.

    What a fight between All Torque and Thing just non stop from start to finish, I'd always go for this version of All Torque than Tornado in fact I bet that's where they got the idea to build their Robot from.

    The Thing series of robots were honestly never that impressively designed, but all of them were well solidly built and most importantly well driven and it always took them a long way. Just goes to show how much control and reliability matter

  • @D3Z112
    @D3Z112 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I know that I've seen John Reid at his best but it is pretty rare for him not to recognise the pit. Cerberus got really lucky in its first two fights, that is until they faced Wild Thing.

    You can definitely see here that the original Thing was (ironically) a little too wild, always on the edge of losing control. They toned down the speed on Wild Thing and they really benefited from it

      Toffeehammer before biohazard even., probably some small things not being good, probably the wheel gaurds, which can easily well stop a wheel as often as save it.

    Talk about bad sportsmanship!: The Daisy Cutter team are pathetic crybabies and lost easily. I'm concerned that 1 judge saw it their way!

    • @kinagrill
      @kinagrill 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah sure, they claim they did a lot of damage as well. Their weapon was pathetically underpowered and oversized. Bigger weapons require substantially larger force behind them to work. Just look at Hypnodisc and how it is literally all weapon and some wheels in the back, which makes it so it can actually get that weapon up in the RPMs so the impacts are damaging.

    Poor sportsmanship from the daisy chopper nerd. I wish they'd show the viewers how the judges decisions broke down, would assuage a lot of animosity that is produced during these close/controversial decisions.
    These heat could have been called the Heat of What Could Have Been. A lot of very good looking robots in this heat, as opposed to some of the earlier heats where none of the competitors looked even remotely competent. Shame they're build quality wasn't as good as their design quality.
    John Reid is the Jean Alesi of Robot wars. Never wins anything, but still one of the best around.

    • @ino_mation
      @ino_mation 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, horrible sportsmanship out of Daisy Chopper. I honestly don't know why the house robots weren't called in on it anyways, it was clearly immobilized long before Griffon drove into the barrier. By this point we'd seen so many robots get shark attacked by house robots at the drop of a hat when immobilized. We've seen over and over again a dead robot being attacked by house and their competition being aggressive against the house while it's happening, it should have happened to Daisy Chopper. I don't even know how it was a split decision.
