That's the best loss ever. Big Cheese didn't do a table-flip - he flipped Sergeant Bash! Loved George Francis chuckling over it, too. Kindred robot spirits!
I agree. Two heats from this series each had two semi finalists from the second war, and one of those episodes featured two finalists from the first war. It’s unbalanced, if anything.
Talking of Blade and Trident, both robots forced a hasty reshuffle of the Series 4 seedings, after the pair had been originally seeded and pulled out at the last minute.
Charlie .Hubbard Makes you wonder what might have been, doesn’t it? The Big Cheese could easily have won Heat L or Heat P. Can you imagine the things it would have done to Dreadnaught with that hydraulic arm?
I've always thought The Big Cheese catching Anorakaphobia's hammer and instantly swinging them around into the pit like a martial arts counter was such an underrated moment. I know Roger probably did it mostly by accident but it was still such a cool move.
Looking back on this I'm curious as to the order the fights where filmed, I know they would run multiple heats at the same time but even then Heat E must have been one of the later heats filmed for George Francis to so confidently say that a lot of the good robots were already gone.
according ro robot wars wiki, roger plant was apparently really pissed off after the heat final, due to the amount of damage the house robots inflicted on Big cheese. he doesn't seem to be angry though on this video
Since I've been able to leave my laptop running unattended for the past few days, I've been able to get through converting episodes quicker - so, have another one!
The Big Cheese was really, really unlucky, if you ask me. If they’d been in almost any other heat (with the notable exceptions of Heat H and possibly Heat J), they’d have won easily.
@@TheMysteriouswatcher - I'd disagree, track record shows Razer (when they don't have mechanical faults) can beat some of the best regardless of weapon or design; Chaos II was probably the best example, which they are capable of absolutely pulverising.
George Francis, when flipping Firestorm out of the Arena: "OOPS!" Also George Francis in all 3 heats here: "Lets try and get these robots out of the arena immediately" lol Oops indeed haha
Agreed with UncreativeUser182 here about how badly a lack of seeding affected this heat. Considering in the previous heat we had one returning team (Milly-Ann Bug) and this time we've got three (four if you include Barry/Sonic returning after not appearing in series 2) including the roboteer behind a series 1 finalist and the roboteer behind series 2's best engineered robot, Series 3 as a whole suffered from a lack of seeding. It's not even like these two heats are the only ones where the returners are spread unevenly. I might do a list of what I believe the seeds for series 3 should have been. Certainly #1 for Panic Attack, 2 for Cassius 2 and 3 for Beast of Bodmin, with other robots filling the slots down to 16 (making 2 seeds per heat). Still, this is one of heats where the game started to really change. Chaos 2 and The Big Cheese really raised the bar for robots. Very little posed either of them a threat in the whole war, and given a better draw I could easily see The Big Cheese making the Grand Final. I'm just glad that Chaos 2 vs. The Big Cheese was a heat final and not earlier. I can certainly see it going very differently if The Big Cheese had the option of pitting Chaos 2! Basically, a robot that didn't live up to anywhere near its potential. Enough about the runaway stars of the show and a bit about the others. Er... not sure what to say about them! Some neat ideas done better by other robots? Yeah, that sounds fair!
Ah, this was a good episode. I pretty much knew from the beginning of the episode that is was going to be Chaos II, but The Big Cheese was definitely a good robot. Great final!
Crocodilotron was a decent base for series 3 and would probably have done quite well in the future if it was improved. it had decent speed and quite a useful weapon by the standards of this series. However sadly for them they were against probably the greatest ever, such is the luck of the draw.
I can remember a lot of years ago when the third series started and saw Mace 2 in the first show, I had a feeling that there would be a Chaos 2 as well having seen them both in the second series and fought each other in the heat final. I had awesome feelings that Chaos 2 would win the heat, get to have a grudge match with Mace 2 and become the champions. Those were the good old days.
as a kid, i imagined the robots with certain personalities and chaos 2 always seemed like the little shit of them all. the house robots pinning chaos 2 against the wall to stop them flipping anymore has just solidified that idea.
Aw, it's such a shame Anorakophobia's driver got sick from nerves. Poor lad, hope he didn't beat himself up too bad over it. It'd be fun if they returned the trials (soccer, pinball, sumo) to the new Robot Wars. Back in series 1-3 it was almost unwatchable due to how bad the roboteers were at driving, but now the standard of driving is so much better it would be worth it. It would also give competitors who get knocked out super quick in the melees a way of showcasing their robots.
I think a lot of the driving problems were down to radio control signal issues (you can sometimes see how big the antennas are sticking out the top of the cherrypickers) which made a lot of the robots difficult, if not barely, controllable.
In the best of circumstances, many would have gotten to call Anorakaphobia a "feel-good story about two kids showing teamwork". As things actually occurred, it may yet count as such.
@@Mistowgan Honestly, I always thought they looked really wobbly when they rose up and down before and after fights. Mix in nerves and some motion sickness from the wobbly control boxes and no wonder some folks had issues - including the poor lad here xD
Fun fact, ghost raptor wouldve destroyed son of whyachi if the wedge didnt slip by complete chance. (Also yes you have to face tank spinners or be a spinner in order to beat them now, everything that has destroyed last rites or tombstone has done this) also ghost raptor was built to tank a hit, and its just really well designed.... although yeah it could use a bit of a better weapon.
dat guy Last Rites has been bitten by Crash and Burn I believe (clusterbots with wedges), Sewer Snake (scoop that goes forwards and backwards) and Whoops (gigantic metal piece) none of which were spinners.
I'm suprised no one in the comments section is talking about Big Cheese lifting Sgt Bash clean off the floor during that heat final. That was awesome strength there.
The heats are very uneven. After a couple of heats where most of the bots were pretty useless - Heat C had only one really convincing bot - Razer, and it broke down; Heat D had two at best, Chromalot and Big Brother (useless weapon, but effective wedge) - this heat had two top-notch bots, Big Cheese and Chaos 2, and two more, Sonic and Anorakaphobia, that could have held their own with anything in heats C or D.
'Minor' adjustments - "the aerial's just fallen off." *snort* EDIT: Interesting to note that even at 'half throttle' Big Cheese still had enough power in its arm to lift Bash a fair amount! Imagine if Big Cheese had come back improved for the next war instead of Wheely Big Cheese becoming a thing, we could REALLY seen that arm lift a House Robot!
Though i love WBC, The Big Cheese looks so much more potent. It's big and sluggish, but still it had won beautifully twice and lost even more epic. If only it would have been as agile as Chaos II...
The problem was that it was damaged by Killalot and Plant didn't deem it worthwhile to repair it for TV as he felt the House Robots were too overpowered.
Oh thanks:) I only just started watching these robot wars and noticed they would rename their robots. Thanks so much for these uploads I'm having a blast watching them.
