G'day buddy, my brother and I here in Melbourne Australia have just replaced the head gasket on my 2001 Nissan Pulsar which has the same engine using your video as a guide. Saved me a lot if time and angst, thanks heaps for sharing it.
Cheers Greg
Great. Thank you for the kind words
My man, thankyou so much you are literally my hero. This was exactly what i was looking for you basically saved my life, i can’t thank you enough!!
I'm doing this job rn, used this video as reference. Found a faster way to get the intake bracket loose for head removal.
Rather than going through the wheel well to unbolt the intake bracket, you can remove the bolts at the top, from the bracket tothe back of the intake. There's one at the bottom of the intake on the passenger side, and 2 on the driver's side, one high and one low. Way easier than pulling a wheel and a wheel well shrowd
This was AMAZING! I flawless! Thank you!
I only had a few snags:
1. Difficult finding the tork wrench that wasn't too low or too hight.
2. Had to buy and cut studs for the exhaust manifold as well as stripped nut remover set. (SAVED ME).
3. Still cant get my waterpump/power steering belt loosened since its rusted onto the block. (another day).
4. Difficult finding the torque sequence for my gxe 1.8 engine since it didnt have 2 additional header bolts.
I had to buy lithium grease to coat the cams.
SOMETHING WAAYYYYYY COOL!
THE ENGINE STARTED UP ON THE 1ST TRY AND PURRED LIKE A KITTEN.
SINCE MY CAR'S BATTERY HAD BE DISCONNECTED FOR A MONTH MY ECM (COMPUTER) LOST ITS MEMORY AND RESTARTED FRESH!
1. two years ago my car stalled and had to jumper the "neutral position solenoid (ECM problem).
2. two years ago my fans stopped working, causing 2 overheats....leading to the head gasket blowing and my head getting slightly warped.
SO I HAD to jumper the fan solenoid into into the fog lights so I could manually turn on the fans to cool my car down and keep the AC working.
3. for the last three years I've been replacing emissions parts due to a p0340 & p1004 error..BASICALLY I COULDNT PASS EMISSIONS so I'd go every month just to fail.
************SINCE MY CAR WAS STARTED THE ECM IS WORKING GREAT, THE TWO JUMPERS COULD BE REMOVED, AND MY CHECK ENGINE CODES HAVE GONE AWAY!!!!!********
I finally passed emissions.
SUGGESTION: if your having any of my symptoms try unplugging the battery for a week (if you have a second car) and see if the ecm starts working right.
your fans might work, and your code might go away.
ITS WAY BETTER THAN SPENDING $420 ON PARTS FOR EMISSIONS, $400 ON AN ECM, AND ANOTHER $250 ON THE HEAD GASKET.
AND I'M AT 34MPG HIGHWAY!
At 15:48 the timing jumped and you corrected later. I think that is what happened to me. How did you correct that?
You people are geniuses
Great video. Most shop in my town do not even want to do any head gasket job.
Best video I have seen on a head gasket replacemwnt for this car. Thanks and great video. I'm about to replace my head gasket as well on my 01 nissan sentra gxe 1.8l 5 speed
If yours is a GXE not the SE yours has a VVT intake cam timing will not work on this vehicle for this video
@@markmarner3016 I'm about to do this job and mine is a GXE, what is different than the video that has to be done?
@@rvalerio77The vehicle in this video is a GXE. You should be fine.
When i worked in the oil fields in south Arkansas keeping a gas engine oil field running was told
how to really keep head gaskets from blowing. get Key Graphite paste and after cleaning the head and block coat them
with the paste as well as the casket then assemble the head I have never had a blown head gasket since !!!!
When it com’s time for a valve job the head will come off with no trouble!!!!
I like your tat. May our kids write us what we tat. I got the same thing.
This is the exact job I need to do. You did a great job showing and explaining how to do this. Dont need a repair manual. Music in the back round can be annoying after a while though.
Well in that case. We can just put it to private
Ausum job there guys! I'm getting my 2002 Nissan sentra head gasket done in about three weeks time. Thanks for showing me what it intals. Regards
THIS IS AMAZING AND SUCH A LIFESAFER!
Great video! I don't need to change my cars but I love learning how to do stuff lol
Man. I did really good right up to the part where you put the timing chain back on. I don’t recall the chain falling or slipping. But nothing is adding up. Dang.
Great video! though only criticism is, please no music and increase voice volume.
Brother I was watching the tooth jump like oh lawd I hope he saw that haha bros bout to start it , sounds like a frickn four wheeler
How did you clean the cylinder head surface and engine block surface?
Excellent video!!
A very intuitive video...but please can you tell me you much to torqued the Valve gasket screws? The torque pattern as well.
I have the QG16DE engine that looks similar to the QG18DE, I forgot to close the radiator cap which led to alot of coolant loss which caused overheating and that led to a blown head gasket, I am gonna replace the head gasket tomorrow and I just wanna know if I can still drive it as hard as I used to before? The car was driven for 78k miles, will the car be the same as before blowing the original head gasket ?
Great video, just no music next time. Had to mute audio
Hey you ever come to Santa Rosa? 1998 Nissan Altima blown head gasket. Not super bad but needs this done. I’m thinking tackling job. How did you get the chain back on time once it jumped?
7:26 that is not an OEM chain tensioner.....see the ridges on the shaft. so they either had a cam chain tensioner go bad or maybe an oil pump where they would have to take off the whole front timing cover
Thanks much for be better human being 😊☺️
Would it be a similar process for a 2.5 litre ?
Hey I'm working on my engine, changing the head gasket but i don't have torque wrench can i use a normal handle to finish the job?
use a torque wrench.otherwise you will run the risk of blowing the head gasket again.
torque wrench are pretty cheap and you will always have it in case you do other jobs in the future
very detail ..thank you very much sir
how did you hold up the head off the car
Thank you for the video!! What parts will I need to replace or should I replace while doing this? Other than head gasket of course. Thank you again!
Valve seal
I love this video, can you help me to locate the pvc valve location on this engine
Gracias ❤
How much for a 2002 Infiniti Q45. Head gasket blown as well. I live in Sacramento
How did you get the head up so high without an engine hoist
Probably a wide Board and a Jack on the engine lol
Hello I was removing the exhaust manifold on this engine and one of the studs broke how can I fix this?
Thank you so much
Thanks for the vid , I have the same model car.
Are the head bolts reusable or do they need to be replaced?
Needs to be replaced every time
Do u have to take the intake bracket and exhaust bracket completely off?
Hey, I have a 2001 2.0 SE, would this video work with my vehicle
How much cost the work I have to fix mine
What’s your price for same car Sentra 1.8 head gasket replacement? Hello??!!
Can you do this with the Nissan pulsar
is this an interference motor?
Yes
Very nice Job
Amazing video, how do you know all the steps for this engine? Is it just experience or a manual?
I use Google to find torque specs
Could you guys do this for the 04 sentra se-r with the altima (qr25de) motor
Yes. We do that one constantly
Thanks for the Great video I learned a lot.
Do you have to torque the cam bolts too?
Yes everything that holds more than a plastic schield needs to be torqued down properly.
Hey mate did you reuse head bolts ???
Wondering if I need to as I'm doing the head gasket on the same motor now
@@amlnss9344 as with most aluminum heads, the bolts have a tensile factor to them. (called stretch bolts) they are considered trash and must be replaced each time a headgasket job is performed. their tensile aspects help to absorb the expansion and contraction irregularities between the cast iron (engine block) and aluminum (head). if you do not replace the bolts, the head gasket may fail prematurely.
Wow!!!
Excellent video but lose the crap music...
Esos motores siempre han tenido ese problema de calentamiento son un Dolor de cabeza
Do you use silicone with the gasket as well or just the gasket
Sizzle CNC never put silicone on a head gasket
Gasket Masters what’s do I clean the head with?
Shampoo and conditioner lol
@@rocky18 extra body
i got a 1.8 nissan sentra
having water in the cooling system corroded head gazket ..thats why its bad idea being cheapo and not putting the right coolant for an engine
Whats the purpose in that annyoing music?
I like the music lol😅
