Kirsty Partridge Art I love the unpredictability. There's something so magical about having an idea, and it coming out better than I could've ever imagined.
Kirsty Partridge Art My favourite thing about watercolours is how beautifully the colours mend together like fireworks in a night sky! That’s just what I think, kinda weird but, eh?
In 18 minutes, you covered more techniques and advice then 12 hours of a watercolour course! Multiple mediums, multiple effects, all in one cohesive video. I needed this! Thank you!
My grandma loved painting, especially watercolour. Recently she died, and left all of her craft stuff to me. I last painted 17 years ago, so just trying to remember what I'm doing!
I'm an art teacher and you are my spirit animal. I don't know where you learnt how to use materials (I'm largely self taught regarding most colour media), but somehow you tend to give exactly the same info and advice as I do, which makes your videos brilliant to show my pupils! Thank you so much!
I was hating watercolors cuz there was looking hard for me but I love the effect of them in the art and now I love them alllllll cuz I knew the thechniques from this sweet vedio ♥
I don’t understand why people have given this a thumbs down, what a clear, brilliant concise no waffle and informative video, by a fantastic artist!!. Thank you I have just subscribed!
Kristy, I can’t tell you how much you have helped me get involved with art. I started out so green, but with your help and lots of practice, I was able to excel my drawing and confidence in a short while. I started with the basics of graphite and charcoal and now have moved to watercolors. I tried color pencils, but found difficulties with finding the right type of media for them. Watercolor is where I want to be first because the ultimate goal is to get to oils. Thank you so much for all these videos, you not only make it fun to learn, but your positive and confidence building attitude is always wonderful to hear. Keep making the world a better place. Kevin
What's wrong with the 6 people who disliked your video, 🤔 your videos are brilliant they are so full of information and great tips, keep up the great work that you do Kirsty 😘
I never understand comments like this! It's great that everybody doesn't like the same thing otherwise we'd all still be stuck chalking on cave walls. It has nothing to do with the quality of video it's just their personal preference.
Donna Walter ...sometimes, people will dislike a video because they can’t stand the person’s voice or perhaps the person is talking too fast for them. Or maybe some of the information is wrong. Some people are sensitive about music in the background . We can’t know why. But don’t be upset when someone doesn’t agree with your opinions or feelings.

I will be using water color for the first time since childhood. Painting in general scare me. I feel I have less control. This video really helped eased my mind.
I was always told to stay away from water colors as they are the most unforgiving medium. However after watching this simple tutorial I feel like if I can draw, which I can, I can paint with water colors! There are so many things you can do thank you so much I'm so excited to start this journey
I just found your channel and I've only watched a few of your videos so far and I'm so inspired by you. I'm a very young artist hoping one day to have a career in art, and you are such an amazing artist, and you are so so so inspiring and I aspire to be like you one day. ❤❤
Complementary colours are great to use together in the same area in my opinion! You can create really deep neutral greys and browns which are perfect substitutes for harsh black when doing shadows etc...
This is really useful; I don't paint standalone pictures but I do create art and junk journals. I also use paint in my handmade planners, as well as other doodles and ephemera. Thanks for putting all of this video together. Joie de fi ❣️😁👍
I learned a TON from this video. This is fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing all the different tips and techniques. I've always been annoyed by watercolours because they don't stay in the lines, but you are so outside the box with other mediums and all these techniques, it's like you just opened the window and let fresh air into my brain. It's OKAY to go outside the lines. I have to remember that! Just wonderful. I love your style of presenting all this information, too. Your videos are always so helpful and entertaining and full of eye candy of your artwork. I just love this channel. Thank you!
Wow thank you so much! Thank you for always supporting the channel, I love reading your comments! I’m glad you learnt a lot from the video, this video definitely took the longest to make so I am glad people are finding it helpful! Good luck with you watercolour paintings! 💕
I just love the way you combine media....for some reason i always think if i get out pastels i should just use pastel....its the way i was taught but the idea of pastel and color pencil and ink and watercolor on one page is making my heart happy!
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever watched on watercolours, honestly! And I've seen so many. Clear, to the point, extra tips, visual examples, covers materials and other possibilities, it's all in there. Combined with your beautiful artstyle, I can only say that I'm very hyped to do more watercolour art now after seeing this. Thank you!!
The salt effect really is something ive never seen before and is super cool! So is the cling film. I love how the salt gives a snowy effect and the cling gives like a leavy, veined effect. So cool! Thank you 😊
just a quick tip: if you want to paint realistic with a photo reference, just pin the photo over your paper and draw the outlines. You will see the outlines on the paper you're painting on, but once the paint is on you can't see it anymore. This is a great technique for beginners who don't want to draw the thing and just want to paint. It really helps me a lot.

I was SO BAD when I first started with watercolours, I didn’t know where I was going with it, it always looked weird and I just couldn’t control it. I thought it was like the hardest medium ever, but nowadays it’s my favourite. If you like it keep trying! It takes time for you to understand how it works because it’s so different from other mediums, but it gets easier :)

Hi, Im a beginner and currently exploring watercolors without any experience. Your video is so detailed. I just wanna say thank you.
Just one bit of information at 14:14 - using complementary colors together is actually a good way to make shadows, or areas with less intensity. It's best to pre-mix them on your palette, so you don't have the same grayish-brown, but using complimentary colors in the same area isn't something that's wrong. It can be a stylized addition to your piece, or used to dilute color and make it less intense, or desaturated. It's sometimes interesting to use in the form of a glaze, once the first layer has dried up. Just my two cents on it, but saying that "you don't want to do this" is not the best bit of information since I've seen many people use this as a technique for their 2-4 color pieces.

Really love your PIG ❤️🐷
Great video Kirsty.......lots of great advice 👍👍👍 you inspire me to keep trying x
You have inspired me to attempt to try watercolor. Just started to gather up the necessary materials. Wish me luck!
Thank you sooo so much for making this video ,all the things are so helpful and great .I am a beginner and and all of these tips and tricks were so helpful

For the question of the day, I really like that watercolor paintings give off wistful and whimsical vibes!
