"...but rather to capture an IMPRESSION of the scene that we have right here." A small statement that introduces a great deal of freedom to us who are perfectionists. Thank you!
I agree completely , i dont create art because it wont be perfect, "i cant draw a building i cant draw straight lines" watching this video is so helpful ❤
I've been struggling with perfectionism (living in abusive environment since childhood) prob ±40y until I got stage 3 cancer in 2020. It's a wake-up call n a turning point. This style of drawing I believe is a good practice to unlearn perfectionism. Inspiring ❤
OMG, I can't believe I sketched along with you! I can't draw to save my life! Wow, thank you so much for such a clear and concise and patiently lead tutorial! I am blown away!
As a beginner to watercolour, I found your style so relaxing and I sketched and painted along with you and it was a great experience. It was so good to be able to go at a pace that allowed me to follow along with everything. Feel so happy with my little piece! A lot of practice in store but I can't wait to keep going and see my skills improve.
I don't understand much about art, but every single time I see these kinds of loose ink and watercolor paintings, they all seem like the perfect art to me. Nothing can top the vibe this one gives, I wish I was able to draw & ink like that
It takes a while, but practice a lot, study things that you want and things you don't want, maybe you'd want to draw things you've never thought to draw! You will absolutely be able to draw like this!
I’ve struggled to make progress in any art style or medium my whole life because I’ve always had a very scratchy hand, both in handwriting and drawing. I’d see people making these beautiful clean strokes and would get so frustrated I couldn’t replicate that. In the last two days I’ve done two of these sketches from around my neighbourhood and I love the result. I always liked watercolour but never paired it with ink before. I finally feel enthusiastic and keen to create more. Thank you so much
This video is so helpful for me. I love watercolors with ink. Your descriptions of your thought process and approach really help me learn how to paint and sketch.
I used to draw when I was much younger, but gave it and all my hobbies up as I pursued my career. Now that I am approaching retirement, I have begun to explore my creative side again. I was feeling so frustrated because I kept starting and stopping, but this was the first piece I actually saw all the way through and love it. After spending decades decomposing complex problems into digestible pieces, you are bang-on when you say start with something easy. Thanks so much for your tutorials!
Sketched and painted alongside you, really enjoyed the experience and enjoying learning this new style! Would really love more beginner and real time videos. Keep up the incredible, inspiring work!
I just started coloring a little paper made house for my granddaughter she will have to assemble. I found some aquarelle pencils I never used before. I never made any drawing and there is a great lack of imagination and artistic performance (My English is bad as I'm a German). But the little paper model looks quite nice so I wanted to find something showing how to work with this technique. So I found you video. First of all I'm completely relaxed from watching, I fell very fine! And thanks for all the helpful information. And I would like to have at least a little bit of your talent. All the best to you
I was thinking about how to paint a mediterranean house that are usually white and here you bring a way to paint white buildings. Thank you! Beautiful sketch ❤
I followed this tutorial last night. I really like the style of this drawing/painting. I will do some more tutorials from this TH-camr and then maybe I'll have the skills I need to make paintings like this of buildings in my own town :)
Thanks for the nice tutorial - I learned a lot ! For the „unknown“ word I have a little tip for you : you could start with „n“ in the middle of the word and center it according to the sign/building , then continue writing the 3 remaining letters on each side…
Your method and teaching is so soothing and gives me confidence! Makes it feel very do-able for someone who struggles with perfect lines/work. Thank you!!
this video was exactly what I needed in my journey. thank you for keeping the process so light and loose and happy. will definitely be re-creating to learn this process from my own reference photos. ❤
WONDERFUL! YOU ANSWERED A LOT OF QUESTIONS I HAD AND DIDN'T EVEN NEED TO ASK, FOR EXAMPLE: - THE PERSPECTIVE WAS NOT FOLLOWED ON PURPOSE! AND THE LINES THAT ARE NOT STRAIGHT, ALSO ON PURPOSE. AND THE FINAL RESULT IS BEAUTIFUL! VERY BEAUTIFUL! WHAT A LESSON! WHAT A WONDERFUL LESSON! CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU! SORRY FOR THE MISTAKES AND I DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH!
Hi Jelee, I really follow this real time sketching from scratch until finish, and this is my first watercolor sketching! the result is beautiful, thanks for your detail and your dedication, please keep it up!❤
Normally I watch real time videos at 2x the speed, but your video was soooo relaxing and inspiring I enjoyed it in real time. Thank you for posting andsharing your process with us!

I really enjoyed your video. I sketched and painted along with you (with lots of pauses). I like that you explain in detail what you're doing and the colors you are using. At the end I was very happy with my little sketch and am looking forward to sketching again with more of your videos. Thanks!
This is really beginner friendly and finally give me the courage to start sketching with water color. My product is not perfect but it gives me immense satisfaction. Really grateful for your guidance. ❤
Jillee: I coming into sketching and painting a little late in life and your work is EXACTLY what I would love to do. THANK YOU ! You are an excellent artist and teacher. I'm headed over to your channel to watch all your videos.
This is the kind of video i always wanted to find! I just started with watercolor, i am a beginner, and i wanted so much to learn urban sketches, this is the first one i am going to try!!! I can't wait to see the result, i think i am going to be able to follow this, so THANK YOU so much!!! I am SO happy to have found this channel ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you very much, Jillee. I sketched and painted while watching, and I learned heaps. I do it a second time now ;-) Practicing is the key for me, and I am enjoying the learning.
I did sketch with you and I found it so helpful as well as peaceful. I plan to look for your other videos because I consider myself a beginner and found a new confidence sketching and painting with you! Thanks for the great tutorial!
Have accomplished doing pen & ink drawings years ago, except never tried to watercolor. Your video inspired me to pull out my sketch pad again. Thanks for sharing. Love your technique!
I concur. From the vid thumbnail I thought it was so cute and charming. When I saw the reference photo once the vid started, I was surprised how simple and mundane the actual location was. I def wouldn’t have thought to sketch it. And I def wouldn’t have been able to add so much character to the sketch as this artist has done 😊
Hello, I only came across your videos this morning. I love that you have done this video in real time so we beginners can watch every step you do. Thank you so much. I found it very helpful and I will look for more of your videos.
I have done my first sketch with you and I am super proud, it has turned out easy under your instructions and absolutely beautiful, thanks, thanks, thanks ❤
I really enjoyed this tutorial! I appreciate how you show it’s alright to take artistic license and modify the scene to be more pleasing to your own mind’s eye…not including the cars…adding longer shadows…etc. It really helps that you explain your color choices…the whys and hows. Just a suggestion-you may want to try taking your phone or camera off of auto focus to avoid the distracting focus and blur each time you bring your hand into the frame. Just set the focus onto the sketchbook and no one will notice if your hand is a bit blurry as it moves around. Your calm, gentle voice and instruction are very encouraging and help to take the stress out of sketching! Thank you for all your hard work and effort!!! ~Pam
Thank you! This was fun. I’m pretty proud of my result. Really helpful to sketch along at first. Wanted to go for the Zurich video, but keeping that one for later. I’m going try some Dutch green wooden houses now. Thanks again. You got me hooked.
Binged watch your videos and you inspired me to go back to painting and finally try my hands at watercolors, I used to do oils. Thank you for your videos
Thank you for doing this in real time. So many draw in fast forward. I miss so much when they do that and thought I had to draw fast also. And as a beginner I knew that would not happen. I might try drawing with you next time. I just came across your channel. I will be back😊
Lovely sketch, I just wanted to give you a hint incase you didn't know, to semply center the word you can start writing the word form the middle letter, for axample the word unknown, you can start form the middle N letter (unkNown) and go on right and left. hope that helps.
What a fantastic sketch/painting! You have really helped me start sketching and have inspired me so much! Thank you!! I was trying to sketch a restaurant (exterior) from a town I used to live in years ago and thought how you would have sketched it. Then I wondered if maybe you could draw some of your follower’s suggestions (places/buildings to draw). That would be so fun! Like maybe pick one once a month 🥹😍🙏🏼.
Im just getting into drawing. I also have watercolor but find it very difficult to use. I watched this while knitting for inspiration to jeel at drawing and painting. So nice.

You can…just start with doodling and then watercolor over it. So fun. Try.
Give it a try and don’t judge yourself too harshly. The more you do the better you will become
I agree 😊
