More Democrats vote early by mail than Republicans do. And in many states the mail in votes are not counted until after the in person votes. This gives the MAGA's the opportunity to claim victory because they'll say they were clearly ahead and all of a sudden votes for the D's came in out of nowhere.

Voter ID should be required.
Voter I'd and anything they need to make it fair and legitimate. Mail in voting should be very restricted and notarized. Overseas military and the most exigent of circumstances. Accommodations can be made for the elderly and wheelchair bound people present at the polling stations.

At most, they can make a copy of their ID and send that . Voter fraud is rare. A fragile minded criminal and his flunkies are peddling lies and want to make it harder for poor people to vote because most are Democrats. In the South, they've removed 50 percent of voter drop-offs, all in areas of non-whites. They've closed 20 percent of voting locations, all in non-white areas. As a former poll worker who has participated in hand counts on a couple of occasions here's my experience: If you only hand-counting ballots for one candidate the process honestly isn't that bad although it's certainly longer than a machine count. We ended up physically separating the ballots 'this pile for A -- this pile for B'.
If you're hand-counting for several offices at once things take a LOT longer and there is a much greater chance for error. You can't do the 'this pile for A - this pile for B' thing (unless you did it multiple times .. with X things to vote for that means everything would take X times longer and you have to handle ballots X times more)
Lastly -- I don't see either being better than a machine count. The 'recounts' I was involved in resulted in almost no change.

I spent some time looking at this, and hand-counting is in fact more expensive and less accurate according to every election expert I’ve found. There are no widespread “shenanigans” - this myth has been repeatedly debunked.

Georgia should be able to count votes by the end of Election Day or next day in a close vote. They should not allow counting to last for days. If Absentee Ballots are not received by Election Day (with the exception of active military duty), they should not be counted.
