- In the Episode 6 of "History, Heritage, Festivals and Handlooms of India", I am taking you all to a learn about the traditional food of Kanchipuram called Kovil Idli. Kovil Idli, also known as Temple Idli, is a traditional South Indian dish that is often served as prasad (offering) in the temples of Kanchipuram. Kovil Idlis hold cultural significance in South Indian cuisine and are often associated with temple festivities and religious ceremonies. They symbolize devotion, purity, and the communal aspect of sharing food as a form of spiritual communion.
Hi please come to Trichy/Trichirapalli (Tamilnadu) its 1 hour from tanjore/thanjavur..Also do visit Kumbakonam its 1.30hr from Tanjore/Thanjavur..Also must Thiruvaroor magnificent temple of thyagaraja ..thiruvaroor is 1.30hr from kumbakonam, 2.30hr from Thanjavur/Tanjore.. if u love magnificent temples u must must come and visit Trichy,Tanjore,Kumbakonam, thiruvarur...A MUST....
I am coming in March....are there frequent buses available from thanjavur to Thiruvaiyaru and back to thanjavur. Please note it's Thiruvaiyaru...I am asking about where there is Kaveri river, Thyagraja samadhi and Aiyarappa temple dedicated to Shiva based on sorrounded by 5 rivers

Hi priyanka tbus kanchipuram idly is famous in tamil nadu and few places in bengaluru, i have tried in blr but never visited kanchipuram though i visited other parts of tamil nadu .it tastes really good, very healthy and good breakfast. Definitely will visit their house for kovil idly when i visit kanchipuram. Thank you for sharing priyanka.
I hope you can visit Udupi, the birth place of idli, vada, and dosa. We make idli's in jackfruit leaves and other local leaves. They are called, "kotte" and "mudde". They weigh one - 3 kgs.
The restaurant idli's that are round in shape are recent phenomena with the use of pressure cooker and idli pans.

Could be . I can't comment on that due to lack of knowledge :)
Yes, it looks like Puttu, which is a dish also available in Tamil Nadu (a bit less popular than in Kerala).
But in taste, texture, and preparation, Kanchipuram Idli is very different.
