    That's really cool. I've used Caustic as a mobile scratchpad for years now, cos it has synths and samplers that stand in for all of my proper gear, so can I mock up ideas no matter where I am, and export the midi files for actually writing and arranging, and I've also been using G-stomper as a free lightweight drum machine for a while now, but this is something totally new to me. It's on my want list, I'll probably pick it up in the next few weeks! Thanks man. Koala looks like something I might actually integrate into my live rig.
    Caustic is pretty amazing, and surprisingly workable even on less powerful devices. I used to use it a lot on a dual core tablet but the battery is dead, and it can be a little hard to operate on my Pixel 3 just because the screen is so small compared to my huge fingers. It has FM, Additive, Subtractive, Sub-bass, sampler and modular synths built in, plus drum machine and bassline emulator, plus effects rack and arranger, heaps of export options. It works a lot like earlier versions of Reason. Well worth checking out, and I'm pretty sure you can get the windows version for free off the dudes website.

      Yeah I've used Caustic a bit in the past, but like you said, gets cramped rather quickly on smaller devices. Thanks for watching!

    i do agree but dont get it confused caustic 3 is a very powerful daw for android with a very powerful internal sampler call the pcmsynth is not the same as koala but caustic 3 is very useful flexible for making beats, if you seriously search caustic 3 in youtube will notice that caustic is the most used mobile app period, compared to any other daw ! anyway great video i always enjoy watching your video when i do get the chance !

    It is fun. Have you used Nanoloop, or Caustic tho? I'm a very long time user of both. (probably have almost 300 projects between the two, over the last decade)

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't used Nanoloop yet, but I have used Caustic. Caustic is great, but I'm not a fan of the "entire DAW" feel on a small screen haha. Thanks for watching!

    • @DetroitMicroSound
      @DetroitMicroSound 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FreeBeat Caustic is definitely best to use on a powerful tablet. I really wish he would start developing it again, but sadly he may never. it's been several years since the last update. Caustic is really powerful tho, in many ways. it's sort of a mobile/poor person's Propheads Reason. Nanoloop, you'll find, basically has all the power of Koala, plus synthesis, etc. I have Oliver's Nanoloop FM Device too. It's a crazy little beast! Big fan of Nanoloop stuff! The FM device is a super powerful tiny 2xAAA battery synth, with sync in and out, and MIDI in, if you haven't seen it. Also, cheap.

      @@FreeBeat just watched it! the mini seems great size for portability; my launchpad X is a bit larger... can you still do chromatic scales with the mini? Koala Sampler and Cubasis (with arp) are fantastic for portable setup... i wish you could get pads and faders in same controller (trimming samples or applying effects) - like Ableton push in launchpad mini factor 🤣. have you by chance tried Arturia beatstep with koala sampler ?

    Flip is fun af. The PO for Pixel makes me hope they make that for all platforms. I know most companies give iOS all the love (which is why I have one) and te already has op-z app on iOS so I hope they can cross platform. I’m aware it is a Google product, but it wouldn’t be the first time Google released stuff on iOS. Btw Koala just released a “split stem” update around the same time this video dropped

    I have been playing with koala, it's great. I also like g-stomper, Caustic and Grrainstorm. However my favorite app on Android has to be DRC synth by imaginando. It's a virtual analogue polysynth with a great interface and a useful arpeggiator. It sounds as good as any similar plugin I have tried and is also cross platform, so you can make a patch on your phone then port it to say the windows version ! They have recently added the ability to record within the app, although I previously found you could run it in the background with a latched arp or chord to capture some cool lo-fi samples into koala.
