  • How to Connect Koala Sampler and NTS-1!
    Today I'm demonstrating a few ways to connect the Koala Sampler app to the Korg NTS-1! The NTS-1 can be both a sample source, as well as a sound destination, and connecting a phone to it is fairly simply. Using a TRRS splitter (if you have a headphone jack), a USB-C to headphone and microphone dongle, or a lightning to headphone and microphone dongle, you can make any connection you need quickly and easily. Enjoy the video :)

    What an awesome combo! The NTS-1 proves its power and is the star of the show once again. Thanks for all the connection tips as always. You take the guesswork out of it so we can get right to music making. The correct TRS cable was supposed to be here already, but Amazon delivered it to the wrong address and I had to reorder it.
    Imagine the sounds you could get by hooking up the Microfreak, the NTS-1 and Koala. 😲

    Hello! I have just found your channel today and you have convinced me to buy a NTS-1! I was very surprised to see you didn’t have more subs, so I subscribed. Great videos!

    Now what would be really good would be doing both at once. Send Koala into the NTS-1, out to a headphone splitter - one way to headphones, the other way back into Koala. You could resample effects into your samples, resample sequences with effects, stuff like that. Could be pretty cool. Now if only I had an NTS-1 handy...

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would indeed be awesome!

    Great content as always! I'm just wondering if I can connect Koala Sampler with my old drum machine Boss DR-550 MKII? I am thinking about playing my samples/tracks live while the drums or the rhythm plays out from the DR-550. Thanks for the help! :)

    Thx for the video. I haven’t tried to see if you could also power it from the phone and if it’s MIDI is class compliant that would probably also let you synchronise the sequencer with it and send it séquences that you could then sample back into a PAD as a loop. I’m actually doing a bit of that on my Sp404mk2 and an iPad.

    Thank you for this! I didn't know there's such thing as the trrs splitter. Ive always thought of using an audio interface to record the nts1 into phone. Does the trrs splitter line-in record in stereo?

    Awesome vid! Thanks so much. I didn't have that USB-C to Mic/Audio 3.5 block. Nice. I snagged 2 thru your link. Koala is so damn good, I kind of hate to admit it... being a PO-33 fan. BTW, are you at all familiar with ROAT (Rumble of Ancient Times) from Soma? Its finally back in stock - for a few days only probably, at Perfect Circuit. Damn thing is just made to go with POs and NTS-1. Check out some of the reviews on YT. Snag it while you can!

    cool stuff... how would you prevent the big buildup of reverb you had going there?

    • @funfactswithmaxx
      @funfactswithmaxx ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Push the stop button. Or not press so many sounds so close together

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just don't go nuts with as many notes as I did, and turn the reverb down haha. I had it maxed out most of the time. Lately I've been enjoying getting lost in the soundscapes that swells of reverb can make, but you can easily turn it down :)

    Where's you get the cathedral settings for the NTS-1?
    I seem to recall you mentioned it in a video before...

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a custom oscillator. Once you've added it to the NTS-1 via the librarian the "settings" are just the normal knob and button combos :)

      Sorry! I've not clicked onto the website yet from the card that came with it. Is this from the KORG site then? Sorry for asking dumb questions, I just am unsure! Thanks for the reply already.

    The lightning jack on i0s has been phased out for some years now. Everything is USB C. Just saying

      The basic iPad's and all of the iPhones still use lightning.
