Alkyd Griffin is expensive than the regular oil paint in Winsor and Newton .... I heard one very useful tip on TH-cam ....to just replace your whites with Griffin whites and keep the rest of the paint tubes the regular ones. Haven't tried it yet .... I had actually forgotten. This video has reminded me of that. I will try now. Thanks for the video!

I didn't know there were fast drying oils. I am with you concerning acrylic paint! Patience is a virtue. Anyone lucky enough to get a painting from you should be more than happy to wait! I love jewelry and have been trying to see your ring. Is it a Claddagh? I wear a band with Celtic knot work with a Claddagh. I have some plain ones too.
You can do the same with alkyd as you do with any other. Mixing together with other oil paints is just as good. I have been using the alkyd for years in restoration and you can match colors much easier. it does not change color after drying. It works like oil and you can’t tell the difference!

If you use a medium like liquin, it will speed up your drying time with regular oil paints.

Galkyd gel is another option. Galkyd comes in a squeeze tube is clear and being a gel it’s easier to keep in place on your palette.
Can you paint soft transitions with it? For portrait paintings.
Definitely yes but I would recommend thinning the paint with some line seed oil
You asked if we knew about any other fast drying paints. In fact, I do: Sennelier Rive Gauche oil paints. All the colors but titanium white will be dry in one day (if not used too thickly), titanium white will be dry in two days. Sennelier Rive Gauche dries to a satin (or rather matte) finish. You could swap the titanium white with Gamblin Fastmatte white (an alkyd oil paint, but without the nasty smell of liquin). It will have the same matte finish. Gamblin Fastmatte white will dry in one day. There you have it: All your colors will be dry (or almost dry) in one day. It's my preferred way of painting, because you can start your next layer the next day and always paint on top of dry paint. Please know, however, that Sennelier Rive Gauche oil paints are quite opaque, so they aren't the right paint for glazing. But you can paint out your mistakes the next day, as if you painted with acrylics.
I really found Sennelier rive gauche quite challenging to use, they seem really really thick and very difficult to lay down
@@irishfarmart A little bit of medium should help. I use Michael Harding's "Miracle Medium" which is non-toxic and without any odor. Used with normal oils, it slows drying too much. However, used in moderation together with Sennelier Rive Gauche oil paints, everything still is dry the next day. You should try it.

They are good for small paintings but terrible if you are working on a canvas that is 36x 48 inches for example since you are not going to be able to stop and do any blending the next day
I can believe that…I haven’t got much experience in large size painting, need to test that
