someone gotta explain to him that "psycho mining" doesn't mean "the tunnels aren't aesthetically pleasing" it means "the ratio of blocks mined to blocks revealed is too damn high". 2x2 squares and 3-wide tunnels are psycho marty.
What, 2x2 squares aren't bad at all?
@@ThatGuy-c 2x2 squares are a lot of wasted mining. why do you need paths up/down every 2 squares? long 2-wide rectangles most of the time are just as good with a lot less mining.

@@ThatGuy-c Basically, if you have already uncovered a block with a horizontal mine, there is no reason to mine past it again on the vertical (and vis vera). NL thinks that everyone wants him to fully connect all his tunnels with both horizontal and vertical, but that's a lot of wasted time.
@@sarbae8988 Long 2 wide or tall rectangles are std tier. But you miss out on some diagonal pathing speed to/from the dome. Diagonal drilling can also go faster since you don't lose as much speed when you strafe tap a wall. Staircase levels also give lots of places to drop off resources for faster ascent, without having wasted the time raising them.
When youre a good chess player you dont need to calculate, you just look at the board and get a little tingle.

@@Rocco-mf7kq I got over 8500 points with the lift. It's not as strong as the teleporter, but still really good. Doesn't take up a slot under the dome and by using it, you often pass your triangle tree and harvest it as often as possible.
I love how with no wither he doesn’t target the flying boys till the end, but with the wither (which normally kills them) he goes for them first
If NL's tunnel design were made into a sweater, I'd buy 6 of them for the family

The fully upgraded and overcharged Orchard is actually pretty good, but it just does so little for you at the start it makes it way harder to get to the endgame.
Can't shake Drillbert, like a kicked dog that won't stop coming back.

You can remember that The cranberries were Irish since the song zombie was about the Irish-British conflict in the 90s. A 12 year old child was killed in the bombings.
The upgraded laser noise got me missing Into the Spiderverse
the noise the lvl 1 laser makes when it begins firing sounds like a Cbat sample
Tools early stuff is pretty edgy™ but Adam Jones is one of the most underrated guitar players of all time, and he's an absolute wizard with feedback and writing really simple but rhythmically interesting riffs. A lot of fans are super pretentious, but that's not really any different than most big name bands. But they are just at their core really fun and interesting songs. Lost Keys into Rosetta Stoned is like 15 minutes of the greatest prog has to offer.
Don’t forget about Danny Carey as well. Man is literally one of the best drummers ever in terms of chops, creativity, originality, you name it.
This game is a fantastic banter engine. I don't think we've had one this banter rich in quite a while.
I've been stuck in Alabama for work and these long dome keeper sessions have been the cure for all the woes it brings.

Edit 2: Yup, you've definitely improved since the start. And it makes my mind go static, but at the same time the psycho-mining has grown on me. It's fascinating, and reminds me of ant tunnels. An iron casting of an Egg Hole would be great modern art.
The dismemberment plan and slint are totally different but still mad respect for the references. Not enough respect goes out to slint
Sure it's unnecessary if you've got teleporter, but in a teleporter free run NL is underrating carrying capacity.

correct me if i'm wrong, but I think the reason why nl did not encounter many gadgets this run is because he didn't mind the densest looking "bricks" and gadgets are only (?) buried in them

I’ve watched every NL dome keeper video, but I paused the video right there. I’d lose my mind watching 2 hours of him manually hauling up loot from the psycho mines(+no drillbert)
