Love the idea of a bulldog Mascot in game 🎯🎮
You let the dice decide: you pick whatever upgrade/gadget/supplement the RNG tells you to. A bit tricky with upgrades/available resources but I'm sure there's a way. Let's call it a BG3/Larian run ;)
Edit: can even apply to the starting conditions (with the exception of Prestige).
Can’t you deflect the sphere to bounce off you to hit the wall multiple times?

Love that you show the final map at the end I definitely keep doing that for sure.
The mortar shells hit very hard on their own, so the AoE line is great. Plus, you get to shoot more shells at a time (up to 4) which means even if they don't hit as hard, you shoot a lot more with much more powerful AoE. With an upgraded gun and better swivel distance, you can really cover the entire battlefield with your entire arsenal.
41:00 The Electrified hull gives off a neat effect. It looks cool.
I kinda wish there was a multiplayer mode. Like, one person with the engineer, the other with the assessor, working together to mine stuff and protect their dome. For combat either two weapons at once (would need some fancy art) or just have a stun laser or autocannon that has to be controlled by one of the players.
There is on the beta branch. It's just not finished yet.
Chris, around 14mins you ponder about the speed of shots at different angles. As a former artillery officer in the Army yes, you have low angle shots for getting rounds there faster. And high angle shots for going over things and lobbing when you need the air time.
You don't even to be an artillery officer to know that. That's like, the most basic of physics.

Absolutely love this game and yay for challenges, can't wait.

I hope that The Lies of P is on the to play list, for some point in time in the future, because I keep seeing it and every time my first thought is I hope Odd plays it. :D

Just purchased Dome Keeper on sale as well..what a steal! Only downside is how addictive it seems to be.
Congrats on your process of getting better with the assesor!!! That mode looks hard to wrap one's head around. This one has been a really fun one to watch, with all the sweatyness and the learning. It does feel like they've improved the way the upgrades of this keeper play, so that also great!!! Always thank you Odd for the great content!!! 😁

Edit: The assessor in my opinion is more fun to watch, I also suggest turning on long cycles for the bigger maps, its more entertaining to watch
I feel like you'd need to pair that with another modifier otherwise the difficulty is heavily nerfed.

I think on large or huge maps you should also take long cycles. You barely make it down and up again without the next wave arriving. And that's before starting to mine.
Yeah, makes it less fun and less fun to watch atm. as well IMO.

I'm not sure you even looked the upgrades after sphere duration.Some cool stuff in there and so cheap for late game.

Oh damn, assessor plays very different between controller and keyboard. I play on keyboard, and I don't have to worry about angles at all. Always shooting the spheres is a straight line makes them way more efficient, and resources never get caught on something on the way up, so they always make it to the dome (unless I fire them from too far away and the bubble times out).
Good job man wow!! So what you did wrong IMO is that you were eager to fire the spheres and did it inneficiently. You ended up having to buy more spheres which in turn cost you too much when you needed to spend more on defense. You were digging 3 deep and making tunnels of 2 thickness which is not efficient. Try keeping the sphere until you're 4 deep, then you'll be making tunnels of 3 thickness and you won't need more than 2 spheres for about halfway into the game. Get contact mining early. Remember, don't fire the spheres early. HOLD ON TO YOUR BALLS. Good luck.

Dlc for showgunners arrived while baldurs gate 3 took over the world. Would be good to see a play through of that.

Didn't yet play the assesor but It seems a "Funnel"-upgrade for the last strech of th entrance to the dome would be nice since obviously sometimes game mechanics screwed you there with ressources stuck just before. Also sideline-know-it-all here: would it be worthwhile to spent floating bubbles on clearing 3-tiles center canal (center line +/- one) when you move back to defend? Seems lot of stuff especially the latest big bulks get stuck easy on the narrow center.

Isn't the number of spheres that can be alive at the same time limited? So if you increase their life time, you have to wait longer until you can shoot one again. If you "lose" one to a large corridor, you're wasting a lot of potential mining damage while it flies around doing nothing. So with greater life-time comes greater responsibility.
Yeah, no, his mechanics still feel awkward and clunky to me. I'll try playing as him with no monsters mode to explore, but I don't have any hopes to actually enjoy the run very much. I am once again asking you to use the HUD mode so you don't have to waste materials on that. Other than that, I really enjoy watching these, thank you! It's been a while since you've been spawning the Dome videos.

If you want to improve your assessor game, focus on more sphere uptime. So much time wasted with spheres not doing anything at all.

Is it just me or is the Assessor just worse? Love the Dome!
Assessor is great, if you can master multi-tasking. Upgrade the lifetime and damage of your orbs, then fire and forget. Come back later to collect any loot and compression mine any ore they've exposed. Fire the bundles to the surface, then keep digging. Rinse and repeat.
If you only focus on getting as many orbs as possible, then you'll be stuck with too many to keep track of, and you'll have most likely not spent enough on actually upgrading the orbs to maximize their mining potential. And if you only use them right around yourself, then you aren't casting a wide enough net to find all the ore you need.
BUY WIDE ROTATION!!!! You are just a sitting duck, unable to use your only fast guns to kill all the ground creatures.

I believe it's one of the three upgrade paths but it's been months since I've seen Luckless' videos on the Assessor update so I could be wrong.
It is an upgrade option that I believe I mentioned in here. But I didn't choose it. It can be really good I think, but there's an additional mechanics challenge to learn.

assessor: guaranteed to make your ass so sore
French bulldogs (such as most "designer" breeds) have a "way above average" chance to live a life full of pain and suffering thanks to genetic deformation brought onto them thanks to breading.
If you like your pet to life a healthy and happy life you shouldn't support this tortured existence. (It's by far not as bad as some other breeds but that don't make it right)

You almost cost yourself the run by being too greedy in the early game. You didn't get any artillery upgrades for over twenty minutes.
