Love the look of the new mini artillery! Especially how it feels like you can bring a little diorama on to the battlefield
That’s indicative of large bases to begin with. Some people put action scenes on the bases or their knights and Titans
I reckon I love the new field artillery the same way I like the Cthonian Mole Launcher for the Votann. I reckon GW is in this phase of doing little diorama minis in the same way they went through a phase of Flyers and AA tanks and a phase of big stompy robots (Wraithknight, Riptide, Imperial knight, Gorkanaut/Morkanaut) and I'm all for it.

I really love the imperial navy kill teams, voidsmen and armsmen both- they make me want a bridge crew!
A kill team of 10 absolutely terrified bridge crew, 2 are armed with pistols, the rest holding chairs as shields. One is holding a fire extinguisher like a mace.

That axe the breacher is holding is a holy relic, it once cut down a tree that was turned into toothpicks, and the emperor used one of the toothpicks, to speak bad of the axe is heresy 😁
The Kasrkin is the largest supply of fully masked cadian guardsmen in 1 purchase in a long time, so cadian fans should stock up on these for later use

I'm a little disappointed in the new Kill Team box. I don't need or want a duplicate set of terrain. Also, two big, expensive boxed two months in a row are really pushing it. I bought the previous five bixes, but I'm on the fence about this one.
The first Kill Team Road Map was :
1st Quarter : Jul-Aug-Sept
=>Octarius resealed mid Aug and Into The Dark late Aug
2nd Quarter : Oct-Nov-Dec :
Chalnath released mid November and now Shadowvault released late October.
They are in their schedule, but they are at the same Time in the 1st late quarter and in the early 2nd quarter this year haha
The covid stuff complication was the reason for a late Octarius box, and for Into The Dark i think too many bix boxes launched during summer so they had to spread thel
I think that the new artillery would be towed to the front or transported Via rail or maybe on the flatbed version of the cargo 8 truck and trailer. Actually on the battlefield they could be moved small distances by hand to reposition them. So they are man portable in a sense but the troops would not literally be dragging them for hundreds of miles. Then again it is the Imperium!
Tornado warning??? No way??? I used to live in North Dakota back in the 80's and that brings back memories. I also remember when Warhammer came out also in the 80's when I lived in Germany. The Navy Breachers are really cool and looking forward to collecting them.
Really pleased to see someone else get that the whole "but multipose gives you so much poseability" thing was a smokescreen. You could twist the torso a little and had a tiny range of movement on the arms, but the legs were very restricted due to having to fit every torso.
99% of models from those kits look identical, whereas the hybrid monopose-with-options approach allows for some really dynamic poses that can be shaken up with options so whilst the models still look similar they're more dynamic.
As someone who’s built both types for years, the monopose models with XYZ parts are so much better. They’re 10x more dynamic. If you actually put effort to make them interesting, your chances of finding someone who did the same thing are extremely slim

I think they’ve launched the new box so soon to tie in with arks of omen. If you’re into killteam then buying the new box gives you an arks of omen board in combo with “turn down for what” box. Otherwise it’s a pretty forgettable box if you don’t like Kasarkins.
Kasrkin is the plural of Kasrkin in the same way that Kroot and Tau are plural in the same way that deer and fish are plural.
There would need to be multiple types of Kasrkin for there to be an s, as saying "fishes" denotes multiple different species of fish in a shoal rather than a single species of fish in a school.

I had some spare sprues off of a Sentinel kit and i used the chainsaw arm to kitbash an arm for my one armed Ork Boy
Size and lookwise, fits perfectly. Also used some sentinel part to make a power backpack for him and the saw
OG chainsaw on scout sentinel was for jungle bush clearing

About teaching Kill Team: I teach how to play it at various events (fantasy convents etc) and for 1st game (most of people never played any Wargames before) I have prepared some teams from compendium (they are really simple) and also I ignore equipment and secondary objectives. And then, it's really simple to teach. Just basic rules. If somebody catch it: then I explain more complex rules in next match. Even more: we call it simplest wargame to learn, because at other tables we have Bolt Action, "big" 40k, Infinity and Conquest, they are far more complex to explain
26:57 How I get around that problem is... Just feld a team of one guy with one weapon so the new guy can get the idea of the game before diving in to team creatiion.
Something I really hope they do but I know they won’t is keep the old Cadian boxes and just give us a bunch of upgrades sprues to make them into other guard forces
I got 2 dozens or so pured resin I think 32MM rensonce fantasy dudes from esty(Mainly got them as them came buy the dozen and are equipped how I need them to be.) and man they were a night mare to assemble as I had no instructions and Green stuff saved the day as the shields were bunch modeled and you had to somehow attach them to the arm/hand. But man does monopose+ work! Even though the only free parts were the a hand and some times 2 hands, head and shield they all turned out different! Especly those I kinda kitbashed as no instructions. but yeah arms, legs and head scare me(I also build lego and gunpla but still) so I'll take just arms, weapons and head.
You mentioned the sentinel round front now all I can see is a chopped vw bus on legs.
I hear the new Kill Team boxes aren't selling well, which is a shame because I really like the format in which they are being released. A guaranteed box every 3 months with at least one entirely new kit that could be anything is nice.
There's a lot of creative potential that could be realized from these Kill Team kits, but a lot of the models just aren't realizing it. The Eldar Corsairs and the Traitor Guard have been some highlights for me, but the likes of the Space Marine Infiltrators and even the new Necron kit have been falling kinda flat, at least to me.
I could imagine a Fallen Dark Angel kill team kit, or an Admech explorator Kill Team made up of Tech Priests and Servitors, in an homage to the Mechanicus video game. Deathwatch Primaris Veterans would be baller too, or Tau Vespid, or maybe a massively customizable Inquisition kit with retinue.
Units that are fun and flavorful that fit into weird niches 40k releases rarely touch.
I actually have based a Khorne Bloodcrusher jumping over a skull. The jumping thing actually do works, without anything under it seems it is jumping randomly

In the images they said “Astra militarum” and “cadian”, wonder if there will be other regiments - perhaps some Death Korp officers etc
I wouldnt be suprised if the GW marketing team was behind the leaks to generate hype
I'm a bit irritated the box is so soon, I am planning on collecting them all so I have one giant sprawling board, so I'll have to bust out the savings lol. I also kinda wish the walls were more different to show different parts of the space hulk, but people can just paint them up differently or add different parts. They're releasing it this soon so if people buy both boxes they've a big enough terrain and mat to play the new boarding actions mode, which I understand.

@@magnusmillerwilson well I'm only guessing, but the boarding actions article showed a picture of the game and it's basically the size of two Into The Dark sets put together. I imagine they want this brand new expansion to do well considering it's to carry them through to 10th Ed
I find it amusing that the subtitles have turned most references of "Cadians" to "Canadians" and "Khorne" to "Corn".

I was not interested in the Kroot or Imperial Breachers teams, and I don’t need a third set of gauges and tokens, so I’m actually quite happy to see this new set coming out so fast so that I can participate in the new Kill Team season!

I was just playing with the brood brother kit a few weeks ago to make models for a range of mini agnostic games. I have got cultist power armored, cultist scouts, etc also.
I think they are using Kill Team to get ready for the next 40k Guard Codex.

Is this the first expansion to release for Kill Team where they give operative options that aren't included in the expansion? The Hierotek Circle can have a Chronomancer or Psychomancer as their leader, but neither option comes in the box. Hopefully this is an outlier and not a new precedent.
They changed the shape of the Cadian helmets and it’s driving me up the wall (of guns).
They didn't technically change all the Cadians, this is a new unit. They made them look practical and true-scale instead of boxy and oversized. This squad also represents a different datasheet, so technically the infantry squad version will still exist (since it got that upgrade kit recently). In the long run, once they eventually redesign the regular infantry squads, the same will happen to them so the whole line looks cohesive (since the shock troops, command squad, kasrkin, heavy weapon teams, and field artillery are in the new aesthetic, while the infantry squad + upgrades are at a between stage).
Like that the kasrkin with plasma pistol has a tacticool rock still even though they are in a spaceship

As a new player with kill team I love your quick breakdown of the game and army
I'm liking the new Cadian models. The infantry looks like a nice combination of the plastic guys and the 2nd edition Cadians. The ordinance batteries look like properly scaled up 2nd edition heavy weapon teams and do a good job evoking the look of Bolt Action field guns. I don't know about the new Sentinel yet. It's better than the 2nd edition one, but I'll just have to find out if it's more fun to build and paint compared to the classic Sentinel.
"Obvously these aren't man portable..." Your right their moveable... field guns have always been man moveable just very slowly but were it be a 17 pounder cannon or a 105mm howitzer you can move them with like 2-4 dudes.
The Sentinel is included in the army set, considering there is only 1 included then it stands to reason the regular release will be 1 in the box
Space marine boxes only include squads of 5 marines even though you can have a squad of 10, so I wouldn’t say that completely disqualified it from being possible.

I don't really care if it is too soon. It might be a good sign that the system is doing well. The thing is that it feels like it doesn't have a soul of its own.
I like the general look of the new guard, the model proportions are great. The knee pads and helmets are aweful though

The new Field Ordnance Batteries… eh. I’m withholding my final opinion on then until I know what exactly they do, like if they’re going to be better/worse more expensive/cheaper HWTs

24:17 mean if only they were that timely with codexes... But still I think it's a good thing as long as your not collecting them all that is but personally I think it's for people who just want 1 kill team and don't like the options they have in the compendium... So it's a great thing for them but yeah I would prefore them to have just stocked the entire range off the bat but I can see that being not possible... As most games come in waves anyway.

Thanks as always for keeping us up to date, Jay. Neither of these teams is interesting to me and the terrain is the same as the last set so I'm going to give it a miss. I am interested to see what's in the next WarCry set. Kill Team seems to be edging towards the 40k model of fiddly BS special rules for everything and I don't care for that. I'm considering doing Warcry write-ups for 40k teams and playing "War Team" - KIllTeam with WarCry rules.
Wargames Atlantic do great IG minis too. All my conscripts are WA cannon fodder minis.
Honestly the new Cadian looks kinda like Rebel troopers to me, but yeah, a guard range refresh is desperately needed... I just don't look forward to the price to make a viable force. :X

I completely agree with you regarding how humans are terrible and close combat compared to the rest of the 40K universe! It annoys me (in terms or lore and realism), when GW makes humans good at CQB (flagellants and servitors excluded). Its much more fun when they create other rules to make them interesting instead.
Not too soon for me. I just want more unique Necron models and this box provides. (Also I’m way more of a fan of the adorable little plasmacytes than they deserve so an excuse to have even more of them sprinkled around my army makes me way happier than it should.)

The new sprue for the old guards not replaces, only adds more heads, all missing options for the sargent, and all missing plastic special weapons options, thus completing the options for one box. So I'm also confused about how GW would fit both squads or if it would be the new one alone.
The upgrade sprue and OG kit represent infantry squads. The new kit represents a separate codex datasheet for "Cadian Shock Troops" as it seems there *will be* datasheets for Catachan Jungle Fighters etc; if not in the guard codex, probably as supplements in White Dwarf and "army of the renown" rules for fielding them, one could assume (and hopefully Valhalla, Krieg, etc {though wish-list/optimistically these would be codex supplements like Space Marine chapters get, though Imperium doesn't need more books any time soon}).
@@lazerhosen i see that, but the probem as i see it is i can use the old boxes (with the new sprue) to proxy the new guys, the same with the heavy weapons teams, so why i would buy the new boxes if i can use the old ones. Yeah, 2 more special weapons intead a heavy weapons team, but that doesn't make any change beacuse the new sprue gives you that with the old models. That sprue would kill most of the benefits for the imperial guard infantry.
@@rakdosorthvet5031 If you have enough special weapon models to represent the new Shock Troop datasheet using classic Cadian Infantry Squad models... then you don't need the new kit to represent them on the board.
On the flipside, why would you buy the Shock Troops kit to represent an Infantry Squad if it doesn't have the same options in it, and only has options to field it as a Shock Troops datasheet?
I don't see the issue here at all, but maybe I'm misreading your statements. Do you mean that you want to buy the Shock Troops kit and use them as Infantry Squads (even though the current revamped kit exists, that will probably be replaced one day)?

What if GWs intent is with all of these kill team boxes are after all 4 are released they combine to a space hulk game? They wait until all of them are released and then announce an "upgrade" box to finish the game off and you generate a ton of buzz again for people to buy the old kill team boxes again.
The new KT box is definitely out too soon. I haven't even finished painting the last one, and i have the new Squats to finish up first. I'd rather some rules for a Squat Kill Team
I'd have been more impressed with these Cadians had they released them about 5 years ago. Instead, my Cadian army is already VERY troop heavy and I just don't need more. I'll probably pick up a single box of them, because I have many of the current kits and I have 1 squad of the old metal monopose Cadians and I think it would be awesome to have some from each era. But I will not be going crazy with the new releases. Same with command squads, heavy weapons squads, commissars and sentinels. I don't need any more Cadians. So the army box is such a huge disappointment. Had they replaced the cadians with a new regiment, i'd be so much more hyped. Or if they released the army box with one of the new tanks instead of just lots of Cadians I don't need. But what's worse, is this disappointing reveal has highlighted something I've noticed happening these last couple of years. I don't care that much. I was a huge guard fan, but just recently, I've stopped caring due to lack of updates. And now the updates have arrived and are a let down, I just don't care that much. Not when I'm more hyped for my Horus Heresy Imperial Fist army. Or my new Eldar army. Or my new Leagues of Votaan army. Or the fact i've got back into Middle Earth. Or the fact i'm looking into branching out into the world of epic/ adeptus mechanicus. And as someone who has never given a shit about AOS before, i'm actually pretty interested in building a Nighthaunt army. And the Vampires GW have been releasing recently have been pretty cool. I'd love to get some of them. There is actually a lot of stuff i've become more interested in than Guard. I think this reveal is far too little, far too late for me. They needed a HUGE update and gave very little. I mean new models aside, what is so far going to be in the new Guard codex that wasn't in the current one? So far a Ordinance battery and rumours of a new tank. There is more to be announced i know. But so far, they have revealed a new army box with very little to really get excited for.
In fact (little bonus here), I am still somewhat excited for Imperial Guard, but no thanks to GW. Wargames Atlantic have some amazing Imperial Guard Proxies. They are cheap, they are full of options and they look pretty damn good for a small company. If you haven't seen em yet, check them out. SpaceNam which are a great alternative for Catachans, Raumjager are great Steel Legion, Les Grognards for Vostroyans, Bulldogs for Praetorians and even Cannon Fodder for the Penal Legions GW never made models for.

I always felt that aircraft where half-baked in their implementation. Really showcases GW's unfriendly sales model, with the only AA available being in ket released when aircraft where released. As if in the year 40k there wouldn't be AA rockets for every rocket launcher or flack rounds for auto-cannons or heavy-bolters, not to mention all the xeno technology that would probably be able to serve as AA.
And the consequences of isolating aircraft has resulted in unbalance to force sales of niche kits.
One set is not really enough to make anything you want on the board and there are to many doors. If I was to get another set I would likely cut the walls up at the doors to make ruined wall sections.
Tyranid Warriors also are on 50 mm bases

There's already a White Dwarf team for them so I'm honestly hoping we get something else sooner, like new Death Guard or Tyranid teams.

I am thinking that they wanted to push the release of this Kill Team for this one, since they want to make space for Christmas boxsets and the new Boarding Actions 40K sets in the schedule.
I guess it would make sense to release this at the same time as boarding actions, so people can make fully informed decisions on what to buy, but James Workshop is James Workshop, so they need to do some stupid every once in a while...
I mean I torn on the new Guardsmen... Like yes they are the HD remaster versions but like the primarus they look to modern like yes the guardsmen could be so advanced that everyone get cyre tactical pants(One of the best high end tacitacl pants you can get today... special forces guys love them and they are priced n the hundreds of USD.) But t kinda clashes with the World wars astatic of like their entire range. Although they do have WW2 boots, generic space marine armor and WW1 German webbing... So maybe it works...

My guess is they think they’ll make more money if folks buy the two kill team boxes instead of just the arks of omen terrain, so they are trying to get us to jump on that.
I won’t buy it because I haven’t bought the other ones. I might eventually get arks of omen to try the format. Might.
Leaks are most likely at the printer, not at GW itself.
I think they did it to time the release with the boarding action sets for full 40k so that people wouldn’t buy that and then be like “well shit, could’ve bought it with kill team”
I'd bet on the option that makes GW the most cash, everytime. The only hard thing is figuring out what makes the most.

So i'm not interested in neither of the new kill teams. It's been too soon. It takes me 3 months to pay the box with credit, it's been... A month? I have not made the first payment yet and a new KT box is out? What happened with the roadmap and the 3 month window between releases?
I might try buying the kill team box... For 40k?! The new boarding actions box seems to just be 2 spacehulk scenery from the Into the Dark/shadowvaults put together. I don't feel like expending a dumb amount of money again and end up with 3 spacehulk scenery... I either want 2 or i want 4. When the roadmap was revealed and there were different names i really expected different scenery coming from this box, the Into The Dark campaign book pretty much confirmed it too explaining the concept of a spacehulk, different ships put together and traveling through the warp... But more imperium ship? I love it, i love the tabletop spacehulk, the videogame too, but if they had spiced it up a little, just a little i would have loved it...
Also, what they are thinking? Leagues of votann and into the Dark already makes you decide between 2 pretty expensive boxes, which i feel most people didn't buy because of the current situation, putting a third into the mix screams to me a flopped release, don't really think the love for the cadians can save what is a $200 usd box for me, atleast on my country...
Are there really people who buy every release? It just doesn’t seem that likely with how expensive it all is.
I did not pick up either the Votann nor the into the dark. I also won’t pick this up. I’m on the fence about Arks of Omen/boarding actions mainly if I think I’ll get enough use out of it with my gaming group.
