Have you always found the look of the Orc Truck (like the Gunwagon) look good & cool in the front look? Then take a very good look at the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler, I'm sure somebody like you, can do some heavy duty alterations. Maybe turning it into the basis of a general military transport truck frame, that depending on what is mounted on the back... And if the Achilles Ridgerunner, if it had one extra back axel and a longer truck-bed, yoou could use it as a transport truck as well, as a heavy pick-up truck, rated to transport containers. Now the Arquitor Bombard might combine nicely with a Rhino, in a Snow-Cat setup, but as trailer or tractor unit... I think both are possible. And might thus be good for a Sister Soritas Inquisition Snow Cat unit. Same for a Sicaran & a Land Raider, thus showing off a very uniek set of transports. Would also show that this Inquisitor has a very weird unit setup. Do look at Legions Of Votan(?), I do think a Sister Soritas, Inquisition, Tech Priest & Votan(?) combo, might give you a good basis for a army. I also thing Votan is quite close to the Tau, considering some of the armor looks & lines, are quite close to each other. Basically, good looks & high tech, nice lines. As for a ship, take a very tricked out ship, that uses parts from other ship classes, to be better then it could be otherwise be, while also being fitted as a Mechanicus Exploration Arc. Basically, a ship that is better then it should be, like say a Despoiler-class M36 or say a Apocalypse-class Battleship that uses parts from the Retribution, Emperor, Victory, Desolator and other Battleship classes??? Or perhaps a Oberon-Class Battleship? ... What? Figuring out what for spaceship said Inquisitor uses, lets you figure out how odd his/her private army might be. And how modified it would thus be. It lets you put down some things. A Rogue(?) Trader, Mechanicus Explorer & Inquisitor warship/battlefleet, could thus be a fun setup. So check the options, there, then the army options, see what might thus give a fun combo, that is non standaard. Maybe add in a couple of assassins, as well? Would modified female Custodus(?) power armor, be something, there? And would the Inquisitor be anti-aliens or anti-chaos? Or are it two Inquisitor forces, working in tandem? How odd a setup, can you make?
Grey knights has almost no value at all. I remember when I got that old Tau box that came with the ghostkeel for 90$. They should bring back start collecting because it seems like combat patrol boxes are designed for the combat patrol game even though nobody plays it
The Amazon Show will just be a series like Love Death and Robots just for video games. There will probably be just one or two episodes on Warhammer. That’s also why they chose Titus from Space Marine II. There’s gonna be episodes on other games as well.
Totally with you on the combat patrol. Having some kind of vehicle in there really ramps up the perceived value. Even if the points total doesn't change much, it makes them feel much more interesting.
You can get Assault Intercessors in any box you buy. Any bundle box is going to have them in it. They are not a central unit, they are the filler unit. Having two squads of Sanguinary is not a centerpiece, which is what sells a combat patrol. Having at least one vehicle would have made this look somewhat appealing, but this is just a box of doods.
Tempestus Scions are the coolest Imperium faction in all of 40k. I see you Jay, you truly are a man of culture. I long for more Scion support, I'm so hyped for this!
I am personally a fan of the Tempestus Scions with Praetorian Guard-style heads (I get mine from Victoria Miniatures' line of Arcadian guardsmen/women). The combination of armored cuirass, high-tech kit, pith helmet and 1880's mustaches is just too cool.
Its nice that they kept the old Stormtrooper models for the 'Inquisitorial Stormtroopers'. The might lack the rapid insertion and infiltration skills of the Scions, but still cool as hell.
to be fair, I didn't even think about just taking Vespids and new Kroot and using them together in something probably not 40K... some OPR or something with these 2 forces sounds fantastic
Well now I need to hurry and finish painting my previous kill team box to prep for the new one. Kinda wanna paint up the vespids up as either grasshoppers or hornets.
When my eyes focus on the guys in the back of the combat patrol box, my brain replaces the yellow helmets of the SMs in the front with big round yellow smileys
The thing that gives the new combat patrol the juice is it supposedly comes with the new BA upgrade sprue, so you can convert the intercessors to death company
No Jay, the Dorn couldn't wipe this CP in a shooting phase. Because its Jump pack infantry, which shouldn't be staring at the barrel anyways. Also... Objective play...
I’m kinda gonna miss the symbols for movement ngl. I do kind of wish it was a mix, like they kept the symbols but had the numbers on the tool too and did number inside symbol for the books. But overall I think the switch back to numbers is better, and to this day wonder if the symbol choice was just to make it a pain to try and play digitally.
It’s definitely the feeling of motion, too many of the troop, tactical rocks have ended up with weird posing and also don’t really convey motion at best they make it look like your model is jumping sideways for some reason Just end up very clearly looking like a way to pin the model to the base
I do kinda wonder how the chapter-specific Combat Patrol boxes are supposed to thread the needle of their various purposes. The old ones were good as "it's a discount box to start a collection of Space Marines in one direction or another", but bad in the "here's a small force with the flavor of a given chapter" sense - there was nothing inherently Blood Angely about the old BA box. The new one seems like they tried to add more actual chapter flavor, but they looked at what was possible after the Sanguinary Guard and thought "well, we gotta have Intercessors because we gotta, and we can't really afford much else. So.... _bonus_ Intercessors?"
The Aquilons are kind of goofy but the more I see them the more I like them, even if it's just they feel like they've got their own flavor more than [New Flavor] Space Marine in seemingly every box.
OH MY GOD! T'au have been TREATED this year. I am beyond excited about the new Vespids- my favorite part of the T'au is its auxillaries, and the vespids have finally gotten an update! 100% buying this box the minute they're out!
I disagree on Captain Titus. Titus goes through a small arc in Space Marine, which literally ends with him getting taken in by the Inquisition to test him for corruption. He's kind of doing the Uriel Ventris thing in balancing the strict Codex adherence with tactical reality. And here we have an opportunity to hopefully bridge his first game end to the 2nd game's opening, maybe.
I really wish GW would do bespoke kill teams for every space marine legion. It'd be the best way to give the "standard" legions some much-needed love. For example, a Promethium Cult Salamanders KT, Victory or Death Raven Guard Strike Force KT, Boarding Party Iron Warriors KT, etc. For the life of me I'll never understand why GW continually shytes all over half of the legions.
Agree the new BA CP isn't as generically good as the previous box which could be used as a great starter set for any Space Marine army but thematically the new BA CP box is definitely more suited to BA which is surely the point of a CP box? (Notwithstanding the quality of the new SG models of course - that's a different conversation entirely!)
Tempestus Scions are cool, but always felt like trying to replace Kasrkin, but didn't actually do that. Now they have jump packs and better lasguns, but Kasrkin are a veteran, Veteran Squad that formed unique talents, perfect for a Kill Team or highly specialized in W40K (Seal Team # for special operations) Tempestest were more the veteran troops with Deep Strike (drop from the sky) ability and less special options. I'm excited to see the Vespid get something as the Kroot did, it's been a long time coming. Whether it's good or not is not my field.
Scions are just Stormtroopers renamed for copyright reasons. The older models weren't "Inquisitorial" Stormtroopers they were just Stormtroopers that could be "Inquisitorial" when im service to the Inquisition. Kasrkin aren't Stormtroopers, they're Cadian grenadiers who have been equiped like Stormtroopers. They've never been to the Schola Progenium and are part of their Cadian regiment, not a specialized asset of the Munitorum assigned to special missions as needed like Stormtroopers are.
Karskins also have an elite training, so they arent just grenadiers with fancier gear. Also how can you really copyright stormtrooper ? Thats literally a standard word.
They can't copyright it, that's why they changed the name to "Tempestus Scions." Same reason Guard are "Astra Militarum" now and Eldar became "Aeldari," etc. Awhile back they tried to claim a trademark on the term "space marine" and lost horribly in court so they went on a renaming spree to terms that could be trademarked/copyrighted.
For the vespides maybe it's the french sculptor Morbäck (his "Plaguebone" were the preview for the official Death Guard models) because his "Dynastie Maïnok" (a count as Tau army) look like them (even the orange).
While I don't Warhammer anymore - I appreciate your Skitarii Vanguard helmet idea ---- I ran an entire Chaos Renegade Space Marine army using 30K bodies, some scattered Chaos power packs and Skitarii Vanguard heads and they work soooo well on MkIII space marine bodies. Made for a super cool, unique and very grim-dark space marine look.
The first Storm troops in 40k were in second edition and were based on 1980s Royal Marines. The inquisitional storm troopers were the same models of their successors the metal Tempestus Sions.
I am not a kill team playing but really wish that they would release the new terrain on its own. A similar deal to what the Boarding Action terrain set was. Two sets of terrain and a couple of sets of boards so you can have a whole battlefield with smallish points. Gives you something to play a combat patrol game on.
The idea of having different army sizes so more people can get into it depending of how much money they can spent is pretty good imo. Problem is that it's not balanced ^^
GW makes its money from fan oys who aren't really discerning. Meaning they either buy everything or everything for a faction or two. They profit from these folks mental illness. You'd be better off getting a 3d printer ... do that and you'll find your way to places where 1:1 exist. Some of us own top of the line scanners and will toss out files for free just so the balance of power is leveled.
I actually think the box is pretty decent for blood angels. It’s a great start because you get stuff that’s super useful for a BA army. The only downside is the loss of the previous combat patrol
If you were going to buy the new BA Captain and the Sang Guards, then it is worth it. But I totally understand your point as a start collecting BA box.
Problem with Scions army colleciton wise is cost. To go full Scion you need 75 dudes plus a bunch of kinda meh tanks/transports. They only come in 5 man boxes not to mention the trim, the scariest aspect of them... This box should help with cost issue, maybe.
I’m super excited for drop chute scions. I’ve got 15 feudal scions, (only 60 to go) I want to put the ad mech pteraxii wings on these drop shoot scions to make them fit my feudal world kit bashing
The previous blood angels combat patrol was the bees knees. 2 boxes get you basically 3 full squads, 2 transports and a command leader. Sell the extra librarian for some refund $$.
Definitely agree that they should have been in the IA codex. I assume they will get added via errata but it’s still super annoying that they’re not in the book.
New to the hobby and I have a quick question for anyone who’s able to answer: I’ve seen a lot on this channel he builds his models and primes them while they’re connected to a wooden block. My question is what do you attach the model to the wood block without it messing it up or making it permanent? I want to start building and painting my army but I don’t know what I want to do with my bases yet.
Blue tac, double-side tape or a tiny bit of superglue if you're feeling brave and careful. Superglue is fairly brittle and you can easily slide a knife under the foot to carefully cut it off.
With regards to combat patrol, I dont think any combat patrol should have special characters in them, as it really limits multiple purchases for savings. The old Blood Angels CP was almost the a 1 for 1 replacement of the old Space Marine Battleforce from the mid 2000s
Just when I decided to slow down on buying new models and focus on painting the rest of my collection GW releases this 😂 And I've just finished painting 10 scions and their command squad in winter camo 😊
I saw the stars aligning: the new Scions and the Agents of the imperium codex? Could I field Sacreasants backed by Scion? The most loyal and faithful members of the crusade? Well, believe it or not I have hope that the new scions will be added to the AoI codex as well when they release.
Don't you have a Tau army? They are better then the Kroot. Can always buy two of them. And do go for your Inquisitor Army, start with the dropships & Killteams. Do consider some sisters, as well But take the Rhino add-ons and use them on Baneblades, Sicaran Battletanks & Land-Raiders. Let them run something a bit heavier, then normal.
I've been watching the news about this game, and somewhat excited. Haven't played much since 2018 KT. Don't need more terrain and these teams don't really appeal to me much, so im hoping there's a eay to get the book and gaming bits all in one go. Otherwise I might just have to buy the big box, or wait for the next big box. Nothing like more stuff in the painting queue...lol
I think the BA CP is pretty good, I'm starting a new BA army and I need guys... The Fomo box and a CP plus the greytide studios new release and its the majority of an army...
From an organization standpoint, Primaris makes no sense. Tactical Squads are 10 men, divided into 2 Fireteams of 5. Terminator Squads have the same structure. Devastators have the same structure. Assault Squads have the same structure. I think even Scout Squads had the same structure. And now... Intercessors got 5 or 10 man squads, but Gravis are 3? Bladeguard are 3? WHAT? If you were drawing up a force org, this would be absolutely dumb lmao. The US Army fields 9-man squads, let it be Ranger, Light Infantry, Mechanized, Scouts, you name it.
I feel like a 10-man squad for non-augmented humans (or the equivalent of for the other factions) in a wargame is a good size. But for Space Marines, having smaller-sized squads helps sell the idea that they are more of an elite force
Scions aren't as popular as you'd think only because they aren't super accessible these days. Only once have I ever seen a Taurox Prime in person at a game shop. Also in my opinion as a devoted guard player, the Valkyrie is way too expensive for what it is in both points and real Dinero, it is also hard to find so you almost always have to order it off GW or find a 3rd party seller. Hopefully, if this kill team is successful with the scions then GW will start inverting more into guard regiments that get very little love. I want my Vostroyans back.
im painting an inquisition themed guard army, lets you have an actual army but also proxy or include via reinforcements inquisitors and retinues my infantry team sgts are all kitbashed inq acolytes
Why always a full squad of Intercessors? 5 is more than enough for anyone. Throw in some different units for pete's sake. This is why the old BA and DA patrols were good. You got variety! Incursors, Aggressors, Inceptors, a VEHICLE. Not to mention the new BA Patrol is pretending you're getting two units of Sanguinary guard when in reality you're just getting ONE old unit plus an extra model. Going from 5 to 3 is just a kick in the nuts.
Dante in a combat patrol would be absolutely awful. Named characters in a value box completely nukes re-buy-ablilty, that's part of the reason the death gaurd combat pants is as bad as it is. Also the actual value is a lot better than most 10th ed combat patrols. Idk about usd but there's about £140 in the box for £100. That's the box of assault intercessors for ""free"" not even including upgrade frames so I don't get why so many people are complaining

I’ve got 15 feudal scions, (only 60 to go)
I want to put the ad mech pteraxii wings on these drop shoot scions to make them fit my feudal world kit bashing
It would have been cool if combat patrol had gotten the love that spearhead got.
You also get 2 uograde sprues! Theyre the old ones though, but for blood angels its a decent box
Jay:
I wish the BA combat patrol had Dante in it.
Also Jay if the combat patrol had Dante in it:
This sucks because you can't get multiple of it.
It’s time to confess. This IS my favorite TH-cam channel
New to the hobby and I have a quick question for anyone who’s able to answer:
I’ve seen a lot on this channel he builds his models and primes them while they’re connected to a wooden block.
Just when I decided to slow down on buying new models and focus on painting the rest of my collection GW releases this 😂
And I've just finished painting 10 scions and their command squad in winter camo 😊
A combat patrol without a transport is jut bad
I saw the stars aligning: the new Scions and the Agents of the imperium codex? Could I field Sacreasants backed by Scion? The most loyal and faithful members of the crusade? Well, believe it or not I have hope that the new scions will be added to the AoI codex as well when they release.
Don't you have a Tau army?
They are better then the Kroot.
Can always buy two of them.
And do go for your Inquisitor Army, start with the dropships & Killteams.
Do consider some sisters, as well
But take the Rhino add-ons and use them on Baneblades, Sicaran Battletanks & Land-Raiders.
Let them run something a bit heavier, then normal.
11:00 Probably just a lack of communication issue. It seem like that's becoming more and more noticeable nowadays
Is there any information on what could happen with the Compendium Kill Teams?
okay to clarify the love death and robots team is making a analogy show based on games, it has dnd, megaman, warhammer, and god of war
Is there really no army with varying ssquad sizes depending on specialisation ? I know nothing of army organisation and you're making me curious
I feel like a 10-man squad for non-augmented humans (or the equivalent of for the other factions) in a wargame is a good size. But for Space Marines, having smaller-sized squads helps sell the idea that they are more of an elite force
Once you hear him say combat you can’t unhear it
Love the Vespids ! :)
"it's a lot of guys, which, I'm usually pretty good with guys". Me too Jay, me too.
(love your stuff, keep doing what you do please!)
Ironically either 6 sanguinary guard or 10 assault intercessors with a captain could wipe a rogal dorn in 1 round of combat.
I think that the scions are chaos from the armor trim
im painting an inquisition themed guard army, lets you have an actual army but also proxy or include via reinforcements inquisitors and retinues
my infantry team sgts are all kitbashed inq acolytes
Why always a full squad of Intercessors? 5 is more than enough for anyone. Throw in some different units for pete's sake. This is why the old BA and DA patrols were good. You got variety! Incursors, Aggressors, Inceptors, a VEHICLE. Not to mention the new BA Patrol is pretending you're getting two units of Sanguinary guard when in reality you're just getting ONE old unit plus an extra model. Going from 5 to 3 is just a kick in the nuts.
Boarding Actions is the new Combat Patrol.
People have to complain about EVERYTHING now, drowning out any legitimate criticism
Cannot wait to nurglify does tempestos scions.. the angels of nurgle are coming!!!!
been waiting on jays response and on my bday!
Those are some goofy looking jetpacks.
They can’t fly it’s just a drop movement, but from the article, they can drop almost anywhere
