I actually knew a couple in the 70s who married with the full and honest understanding that he was homosexual, and she was effectively asexual, and wanted NOTHING to do with sex with either gender.
They had a WONDERFUL friendship, they shared and worked toward similar goals, and their marriage worked well for over 25 years.
Ultimately, he died of a congenital heart disease, as his father had before him, and she was well cared for, because they had planned for it in advance.
I know VERY FEW heterosexual couples who have done as well with their relationships.
The last I heard was that she was fundraising for the American Heart Association in his honor.
They were both truly wonderful people.
💞💞💞
Still doesn't shade heterosexual marriages
That's when you love someone, you will accept whatever he is no questions ask❤
Its not about what works better, its about obedience to God and to His word. Period ! It doesn't matter what you think !
@@starlifehome494what, who cares abt that let people feel love it doesn't matter if they're gay or not , it doesn't hurt you. Plus it's their life let them live it however they want to
Dumb
As a divorcée, this sounds like the most perfect arrangement ❤
I knew some people who were both homosexual and both of their families would have done horrible things to them if they knew. So- a plan hatches. They decide to get married, fake some dates in front of their parents, plant some cute texts, then finally pull the trigger. The wedding is arranged. They suffer through one horrible kiss and move in together. Now they’re just two besties living in the same house! They still date who they want and live their own lives but this way they will be safe from their parents. Only I and one other person knows their secret 🤫😄
You gay ? No because that's the start line of the line brov x) Like you were gay and engage ? Because it's what she is gonna have to deal with. I mean fault to no one, you discover yourself by living your life so it happened and will happen again to someone else. But bro, look at his face he doesn't know what to say to her, she is hurt and will continue to be if she stays and he know that.
Yeah because your way didn't work doesn't mean a different one is perfect
No it doesn’t… it’s only understood when you are into that marriage where you can’t breathe n love.
@marenking1946 I heard that this type of arrangement happens in Japan as well. Basically 2 couples but they're actually all homosexual
A pleasure to meet you! I love your energy, your style, and the way you bring us into your home, your very life. It was refreshing to see your tea set up and watch as you poured and enjoyed a cup of tea rather than simply say that you made some tea. It helped me see that not only you love tea but also the very process of making it. 😊Can’t wait to see what other videos you have in store for us. 😊
Platonic, but powerful. 💖
This is so moving. Just because they can't be together romantically doesn't mean they can't have a beautiful relationship and life together.
Being Gay is not only about S*x coz that is what she is implying.
A relationship of lack for her, not beautiful just selfish
@shacks29 yet he will be having sex while she likes him, utter nonsense
@@shacks29 well actually... homosexuality IS about the sexual relationship, I assume you mean that in most cases, gay people also are romantically attracted to the same sex
Me, as an asexual bi-romantic who just married an heterosexual guy will tell you: sexual and romantical attraction do not need to overlap :P
But yes, I agree the relationships with different sexual attractions are not that easy as she makes it out to be, but I guess in the moment she only wanted to reassure him that it is ok for him to be gay and that she does not blame him or anything
@@sylviawaise7424 What I mean is she acts like that being Gay is only sexual and its enuff if he has his secret affairs but in reality he wants a serious realationship with another Man and live with him together as a couple.....and btw. you as a woman who is Asexual cant relate to what Gay men feel so dont tell what can overlap or not you have no idea.
My best friend and I considered marrying for financial purposes at one point while we both dated the men we wanted. But she found a man she wanted to marry for love and im honestly glad they met.
She: “That sounds like a better marriage than most.”
He: “She’s truly delusional.”
This is so f*cking touching.
"We love each other in our own way" and that, THAT is love. She knew the risks of the times. She was willing to stay to keep him safe, that's love in its truest form
“We’ll have each others minds” brought tears to my eyes. Such a romantic scene
That got to me, too, and it's incredibly romantic
Same
The Iranian/Persian/Farsi word for spouse is “Hamsar”, which translates to “same head” or “with/along head” or “equal head”. Quite a poetic language.
I cried knowing that with the awesomeness of enjoying both mind and body of a partner, a woman chooses to be a nun to enjoy "mind only" 😂
I don’t really understand romance, but it’s definitely super sweet and nice
What happened to him is absolutely disgusting. He saved so many lives and they repaid him by treating him like a criminal or a monster. I cry at the end of that movie every time
I hurt for those whose time passed before the world changed. Our country at a least.
“We’ll have each other’s company” shes so scared to be alone. That hit bro that hit makin me cry ngl
I don’t know if it’s that simple.
Considering the time, woman didn’t hold much value in society outside of producing babies and taking care of men.
This scene is commentary how her marriage to a gay man that she loves (as a friend) allows her to be the woman she wants to be: autonomous, capable, fulfilled.
It’s not fear of being alone. It’s fear of society holding her back if she is a single middle-aged woman.
It was more because of both not wanting to have the life of woman or homosexuals at that time. Being together they could cover/protect each other from the real harships they will have to go through.
OR, you know, enjoying spending time with certain people is a thing...
Just watch the movie you will know why she is saying this instead of judging just by watching a short .
what's the title of movie?i wanna watch it
To put it simply ladies and gentlemen she loved him no matter and accepted him. She would know who he was with when not with her and wouldn't be upset because she accepted his being gay. A wonderful man driven to suicide because of government interference.
That's not actually what she said. She said she'd still marry him despite knowing that he wasn't sexually attracted to her, she didn't say she'd accept him cheating on her.
That's like saying it's fine for a straight man to cheat on his wife once he not longer finds her attractive.
To put it simply
I just want a lap dog to make me company when I want, but with the status and perks of a married woman, better income and still doing whatever I want.
Religious based laws are insanely stupid, thanks to Conservative ideology.
@alberto5770 Well, you can make everything sound selfish. :'D
@@alberto5770how dare she!
That dude had more guts than anyone to come out put together
Thank you for sharing the blue pallet it really looks wonderful. Now i can follow your application . Have a great day.
How could a country do that to a hero who saved millions, so terrible
I really don't know, the US and UK are doing it to a whole swath of people who are transgender now. Its the same story the targets are different. If Turing inspires you, then get out in the protests and fight against transphobia running rampant right now.
Because this is happening right now everywhere.
Agree
Can someone explain what this means and what show/movie this is..?
There are still people who want to go back to that 😮
@@JoeMama-1diotthis movie is called the imitation game about Alan Turing who was the inventor of the first computer and deciphering Nazi messages that had been encrypted during WWII, he was gay and that was illegal at the time and so he was never given recognition for his achievements and forced to undergo chemical castration and conversion therapies, he committed suicide not long after
Keira is so gorgeous in this film (as she is in virtually everything). “We’ll have each others minds” - such a great line.
what is the title of this movie?
@@nonananales1344The Imitation Game
Most people who have an issue with this arrangement forget that at that time (not too long ago honestly) gay people were locked up, sent to asylums, or just killed. At the very least, you’d lose your job and be the town pariah until someone killed you on the street. And most married women weren’t allowed to work without their husband’s permission. If they split, he’d lose his “straight man” cover and be subject to suspicion and pointed fingers. And if she remarried, she’d most likely be forced to be a housewife. Different time.
A lot of gay men and women back then married each other to cast away suspicion.
😂😂😂😂 gay
The good old days
She loved him as a best friend more than a lover. She had no egotistical claims to ask of him . She jst wanted to be friends. But let us be honest , you dont have to be married to be best friends. In reality , not movies, she would divorce maybe ask abt him on the phone maybe hv occasional visits but we dont usually stay married in a relationship like this. She would want a husband kids a family eventually. Let us be real people
It’s beautiful when human beings are that honest, that is true love.
I have a relative who is living a version of this with his wife. And, actually, he fixes the lamb while she works. They have mock arguments that are a parody of other married couples’, just for entertainment.
Why would they stay married to each other?
@@ashleydowney1222 because they both benefit from the arrangement, they enjoy each other’s company and care about each other, and, in matters of sex, give each other complete freedom?
@@vinista256that does sound like a better marriage than others I’ve seen.
Can you please explain what the phrase "he fixes the lamb while she works" means. Does that mean that he does nothing /he doesn't work? or that he cooks while she works?
I couldn't find it out on google or any translator, even chatgpt seems confused.
@@aprendeespanol2020 I was paraphrasing something that Keira Knightley’s character said in this scene-it’s not a general expression regularly used in English 😉. When she said that she was not going to stay at home and fix lamb while Turing worked, she meant that she wanted a challenging career where she could use her brilliant mind and did not intend to be a traditional wife-for him or for anyone. When I said that my relative DOES “fix lamb”, I was saying that he also has a nontraditional role, because he does all the cooking in his household, which is not the traditional male role.
This is so real, lovely & makes so much sense. Understanding eachother for true companionship. ❤
