This document was REALY good when it came on the tv. they started on before they even knew each other, continued on how they got jobs and SLOWLY started to meet each other, the dont adjust yout tv show where you can see the pythoness, the creation of monty python, the movies and eventually, what they ended up doing after the python was over. it was VERY informative, and it showed some of the best parts of python, and helped you understand them more! the part about Brian was the best XD
the Life of Brian might be one of the movies that will still be watched in a hundred years and sitll knock out any other comedy, not because its blasphemic but because it because its makes fun of the human nature itself. i had id on VHS now on DVD and even after watchingh it a hundred or more times it still brightens my evenings.
@kkseer Hey, it's alright. Typos aren't exactly something unique to you (although making the same typo three times, that's got to be some sort of record :-P). Have a nice day ^__^
This documentary made me sad because it made the crew look like they all hated each other and were jerks. Not this clip, but the ones about cleese arguing over who should direct the holy grail and so on. Not recommended for python fans. The truth is too painful.
@dead0piggy ok I think I found it theirs a video titled The secret life of brian and its split up it contains (supposedly) the debate unfortunately I haven't found anything with just the debate
@BeatnikFromHell666 Pretty much. My personal feelings about religious organizations is that they serve a greater purpose to those that are new to it, rather than those that have grown up with it. I went to church my whole life, so I've heard all that I'm gonna hear in church.
I will never watch that movie in the same way ever again. Like, holy shit, that shit had actual *meaning*?! Holy fuck, I'd never thought about it that way b4...I need to watch it, like, right now. Good thing that's also on TH-cam! Public Domain ROX! Lol!
AMEN Graham! "The people that we raelly thought must have bugged Christ". Totally. (I'm a Christian and I love the movie, and how they do treat Jesus, for crying out loud)
Brian's line of dialogue "you don't need to follow me. You don't need to follow anybody. You've got to think for yourselves...you're all individuals!" is far more insightful and sensible than almost anything in the bible, and sums up the atheist/secular humanist viewpoint pretty well.
chapman's life set an example for me when i got of drugs. to see how addiction can ruin someone's life by cutting it short when there was still so much left for them to do. i'm not saying i'm gonna be famous but i think there is more in life then wasting money on drugs and then die because of them. to bad graham died...
Nothing changes. Without seeing the movie yet, all the bible-thumpers jumped into line to protest it. Today, they're even more organized and willing to yell at the top of their lungs in protest against things they know nothing about.
@Texasjim2007 Atheism and secular humanism are two different things. Secular humanism may be an atheistic world view, but it does not mean all atheists are humanists. Stalin may have been atheist, but he was hardly a humanist. Humanism is a philosophy which emphasizes the ability to think for oneself over merely going by faith and religious dogma, whereas atheism is simply rejection of a belief.
I'd like to think that in case there IS a higher sentient Being with a master plan, he/she/it approves of the "always look on the bright side"-idea. The people who protested againt this movie apparently forgot that if the Bible tells us that we were created in the image of God himself, surely our sense of humor comes with that package. I love this movie (and the Mitchell and Webb; "In The Name of Vectron-bit) because it comments on how most human need to create rules in a caotic world.
@MissKateUK ....*john cleese raises head and looks at Brian* How shall we fuck off oh lord! best scene, but the one about the peoples front of judea and Loretta, thats gold as well
life of brian - funny stuff from start to finsh, the bilbe- a horror story about a guy in the sky. "your fuckin nicked" "blessed are the greeks" i know which one i love and its not the fuckin bible
In fashion terms, it could be said that throngs of people missing the point is the new black. Despite this films best efforts in showing how misinterpretations of belief have been rampant throughout religious history, we're now in a time where those "misinterpretations" lead people to strap explosives to themselves in order to get their "message" across......weird, innit' I thought it was a fabulous film, I still do.
It was banned in my mum’s home town in Aberystwyth. Decades later, the actress who played Brian’s girlfriend became the town mayor. They had a triumphant screening of the film in the local cinema and threw a massive party - which Michael Palin and Terry Jones attended. Everyone had a blast. And the funny thing? They found out the film had never actually been banned: the miserable sod behind it forgot to file the paperwork.
Funny how you go and comment positively on the John Cleese "Extremists" video, and then get right back underway writing comments like this one. It's like you didn't even pay attention.
@@young321bookie 8-year-old comment, god only knows what the original comment was. TH-cam broke the reply system a couple times in the years since. Don't worry about it.
@gsprpltv The movie wasn't about Jesus! Jesus hardly gets any screentime and he is treated very respectfully. The movie follows the first and last days of Brian, an every day sucker of that time.
Huh? humanist fundamentalism? Can you even define that or are you just spewing your butthurt because of the veracity of that comment? What the hell is humanist fundamentalism?
the christians react to this movie just the way it stereotyped them :D so while they are trying to prove the film is a lie and an offense they actually prove the movie right. it just proves that the church is capable of controversy like nobody else
How f*cking backward would someone have to be to not get offended by someone being so belittling and spiteful to them. It's 'gas-lighting' to tell people not to be offended when you're offending them greatly.
i get what python was getting at, thought it was hilarious, hated the ending with a furry and i would laugh in john cleese's face if i ever met him. You can't change the world john, only jesus can. snap....
Chapman was a heck of an actor

@MissKateUK I agree completely, John Cleese as the centurion, giving Brian a lesson in latin grammar, at a close second.
What's great about Monty Python.
Every single scene is quotable some how
I would love if the Pythons got back together and did Dan Brown's The Life of Brian.
@MissKateUK Except, perhaps, for the one immediately following it:
"How shall we fuck off, O Lord?"
"Thwo him to the fwoor.
"Sorry sir?"
"Thwo him to the fwoor."
"Yes sir."

"You are a Wooman?"
"No a Roman."

it is on youtube now

"Noooooo! FUCK OFF!"

They were taking the piss out of Spartacus.
exactly follow your own lead
How shall we follow?
Just one thing: You misspelled "Python" in the title...and descriptions...and tags...
Where is John's interview?
"Sweedish seperate from Welsh". Miss that when I watched the film.
