Those lyrics sound really awesome! They should be in a final boss song for a really popular RPG. Maybe it could even be in Smash Bros. at some point...

@@dicksteptoe9199nobuo uematsu (No-Boo-Oh Ooh-eh-Mot-soo) is the main composer for Final Fantasy VII, a role-playing game released for the PlayStation in 1997. One of his more notable songs from the game is the song One-Winged Angel, which uses lyrics from multiple of works by Carl orff, those lyrics including Estuans interius Ira vehementi, Sors immanis et inanis, and Veni veni venias ne me mori facias. The silver haired individual the comment refers to is the main villain and final boss of Final Fantasy VII, being Sephiroth, which is the fight the song plays in. I’m just writing this since I have nothing better to do, but you should absolutely listen to One-Winged Angel as it’s an amazing song.
this young guy had appeared on the stage, Previn cued him in, and Glory Be, he could actually do it! I'm pretty sure his name was Patrick McCarthy, a singing student. I remember that he was very casually dressed, but they had insisted on giving him a bow-tie backstage to go on his turquoise shirt! At the end Previn was pretty breezy about it -- "Mr Allen is fine -- just a bit hot" -- but hey, that's live music. I haven't seen footage of the concert since that night -- it's riveting viewing!

I think what i notice about the lyrics are certain words we hear in FFVII materia = the small orbs containing magic or summons aeris = the name of Aerith (well, mistranslated but could accurate since i think its a shortened french version of it)
The bass here Of course does not hit the correct written note, but I give him great credit for making what he does sound very good, What I would describe as 'sing song', more of a speaking voice. I suppose you could even call it operatic.

This and Circa Mea Pectora are so epic. I'm biased toward that latter, as I've done that one... anyway. Can we talk about him not hitting that last note? It's a quick and powerful high note and he just squeaked it off I guess cause he was gonna screw it up or couldn't hit that (I think it's a high C). Dang.
Last note should be high A. For a baritone, this note is at the very very top, especially for a dramatic voice. And hitting properly this note at the end of this piece is even harder, being the whole piece all the time in the top range with many many high G's. There are many singers "faking" this end note.
Yes, it was on live and was the sweatiest piece of TV I've ever seen! Not just because it was a very hot night -- August 1973 or 74, I think. I think he made it to end of the Ego Sum Abbas and sank to the floor, to be carried out backstage. After the merest pause Previn carried on, and by the next-but-one aria, Dies Nox et Omnia, (cont.)
