So most of the brands have realized now that users desire a slim and sleek laptop still being pretty good at gaming so they have slowly switched to this smaller form factor like the dell xps laptop which is very good to see.
I feel like Windows gaming laptops are in peak development just like Windows ultrabooks few years ago. They look so nice, built so well and yet perform great for what they do.
I like how manufacturers are realizing that most buyers actually prefer a slim, powerful, efficient machine, not a bulky, heavy laptop that slows to a crawl when you unplug it because it still needs ac power. Like how they thought that was the best way to sell their performance laptops I'll never understand it
Finally a 16:10 ratio on Omen! The outer design arguably is the best this year, even better than the g14. If only hp has the front firing speaker like the rog does...
Hey Matt, how were the speakers and fan noise? Also the 4070 tops out around 105w, and not a lot of performance gains between 90-105w but 80w will prob have a bit of a difference in FPS. Excited either way for these ultra thin 14 inch gamers!
I really prefer 15inches and above to be honest. I wish he had spoken about the heat dissipation and the fan noise. After getting my own gaming laptop a few years ago, I have realized just how important it is to have as quiet as possible a machine. I would even favor that over the top notch performance at this point, because it can be so disrupting to use without headphones and to people around me.
I was on the fence about upgrading my laptop a few months ago. Glad i waited. I've been using a HP Omen 15 (2020). Cooling is fantatic. Keyboard is superub. My only issue came after a couple years; the fans would ramp up like a jet engine even at idle. Also, it's heavy af at 5lbs. I hope HP was able to solve that issue. I really like this model. It's this, the Lenovo Slim 5 14", or the new Asus G14.
@@Jacob-Pogicat That's one thing I experienced on my Legion 5 Pro. Had it for 6 months, forgot how cold & quiet is supposed to run until I played a game that I remembered getting more Frames on. Those thin, many bladed fans are really effective, but they get clogged up in about half a year. Cleaned it, and got surprised again at how cool, quiet and fast the laptop is simply because I forgot and I haven't been playing the same games I months prior. No repaste needed. Some laptops don't use thermal paste but a special Honeywell PTM7950 phase changing thermal pad so it shouldn't even need to be replace for years* (citation needed)
finally companies realizes that most people just want a thin & clean looking gaming laptop (as thin as a gaming laptop would allow), instead of over the top design. Best looking laptop right now imo are: msi stealth studio, hp omen transend, asus zephyrus, lenovo legion
The display looks a little too green at 2:08. Oof. But I'm glad more manufacturers are shifting to light and sleek designs, though at the expense of raw power. I'm still a bit wary of the 4070 down Nvidia cards being purposefully underpowered so people would upgrade for better longevity.
The design for the port at the fan there might be problematic, not sure if over time the ports / connectors / wire might be damaged by the constant heat.
Embedded 2.4Gh dongle is such a generic and well-overdue feature that all companies should have done years ago. In terms of statics and look, it seems we have a rival for ROG G14. Good design choices HP.
Judging from looks alone, Transcend 14 is light years ahead of G14. Has style, class and its own identity, rather than G14 and its awful RGB bar across the lid
Hope it doesn't sound like a jet engine like its big brothers. 14inch laptops look so promising this year! Can't wait for next year when we get tangible upgrades to the internals. :)
I am a custom pc build owner, and i am not a single bit interested in a laptop, but God damn hp 😮 that is the most beautiful and slick looking laptop i have ever seen. W HP 🎉
Brooo laptops this year are driving me nuts If anyone in the world sees this and can get me this omen or a g14 2024 I’d loose my mind it would make my whole life worth living Dreams Is that I hope to one day touch any of these laptops
I have a couple questions about the info in this video. First thing I noticed you mentioned is that it’s an all metal chassis when I heard from others that it’s plastic and second but I heard on here is that the OLED panel is 120hz refresh rate VRR panel and I also heard from other sources it’s not VRR only the ASUS G14 is I heard not this one please confirm or correct
It’s an aluminum chassis you can check their website it’s in the first paragraph. As for VRR that’s what the HP rep told me. But of course I’ll confirm once I get it in. www.omen.com/us/en/laptops/2024-omen-transcend14-intel.html
That is an impressive looking device i hope there are more devices like these with embedded ram that can feel like a mac to use not just in terms of looks but in terms of liveability like instant wake features, good battery life for usual tasks like atleast 30-40 tabs browsing without spinning the fans or powering the network port down and more.
I agree. By the way: have you tried one of the tab suspender browser extensions? Works wonders for me in Firefox browser. This extension unloads tabs from RAM to SSD, so you can have lots of them available for days.
as a creator/designer, I would love this kind of laptops..its aesthetically pleasing and surely light than other gaming laptop. its not in your face kind of gaming laptop which were havey and bulky like a tank, this one is very modern and minimal. ill surely buy it.
my main question with every one of these thin/light gaming laptops is the build. I so badly want something that feels just like a Macbook. Zero bend/give in the plates, full solid metal chassis. I travel quite a bit with my PC and need it to be sturdy. I'm willing to pay a big premium for this The only thing that is even comparable is Razer, and I'm super wary of that brand. Would like to get my hands on one of these.
This year we're finally gonna see not so gamery looking thick boys but instead, thin and premium looking, high performance gaming laptops, i would love to see a 16 inch version of this and how it compares against the new Asus G17 2024 and what other laptop manufacturers are gonna come out with, this year, finally legion slim series getting some competition.
Is there a gap between the lid and keyboard when the lid is closed on the hinge side? How good is the hinge? How does it compare to Zephyrus G14 I really want to go for G14 but the drivers issues in the previous models is keeping me away. Also, would choosing G16 be a better choice than going with this or Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14? I want a lighter (under 1.9kg laptop) size isn't an issue, but portability is, with a good battery timing on browsing and regular use (at least 8 hours), a good thermal that can handle long gaming sessions or training of Machine Learning models.
HP advertises only 6 hours of battery life on their website for this. That would be very disappointing if true. If they can match the battery life on the Asus G14, though, I think this is a real contender this year.
Might be a more conservative estimate by HP. It's probably better to under-promise and over-deliver than the other way round:) guess we'll have to see what the reviews say
The efficiency savings on these new-gen Intel chips are for basic tasks like video watching. You do anything medium to hardcore performance-wise, and the battery life will sink like a stone in water. So I suspect gaming laptops will have zero benefits in efficiency for their primary cause celebre.
@@andyH_England well I don't necessarily mind that, I'm fine with having to plug the thing in for a gaming session. As long as I can take it with me for a day of work/note taking/video streaming and not worry about the battery life after 5min thats fine with me haha
Hope they do a HP OMEN Transcend 16 version of that soon, in matte black. How do the speakers on that HP OMEN Transcend 14 compare to 2024 Asus G14/G16?
This thing looks amazing. My current laptop is a OMEN 16 i7 13th gen RTX 4070 and I'm loving it. It looks like a smaller, but somehow more powerful version of my laptop. The one thing I like about the Transcend 14 is the amazing RGB keyboard. Literally the only reason I want it. And is it just me, or does it look like a Chromebook?
Honestly, I'm sold. The new G14s look great, but the soldered RAM really killed it for me. Now with the new Omens being similarly priced to what the current 2023 G14s are, then I'm more than willing to give HP another try after all these years.
this looks so cool, and unlike the XPS it isnt a home heater! I am probably going to get the base model of this and hook it up to an external monitor and keyboard, this looks like the perfect computer for me!
Would u recommend this over for an XPs 14 for student who mains focus is for productivity based work but would also like do light gaming comfortable or is this really geared as gaming laptop and less is adapt for long word document writings and use?

It's frustrating that if you want the highest performance from an Intel laptop chip, you still need a huge chassis to properly cool the chip. These Meteor Lake, more efficient chips are great, but they are not the most performant. So I think waiting another year is the way to go, unless you want a thin and light device. I am assuming, and this is just a guess, that whatever replaces the 14900HX next year will be on Intel's newer process, will be very performant and will also be efficient like the new Meteor Lake chips seem to be.
