Wow that vid took me back to 1984! Loved the ads too & couldn't believe it when I saw the ad for Maxpax. I worked for Maxpax at the time & had the job of manning the freephone line at our advertising agent at Greater London House in Mornington Crescent....what fun times they were!
Great documentary but Caroline Quentin the interviewer in her summer dress and fluffy dogs sticks out like a sore thumb and seems totally bewildered. Love the scene where they offer her a beer and she says Oh No Thank You.
It's like a female version of Bad News Tour... Especially when they are all waking up in the morning! ;-0 Brings back memories of the 80's though. Used to be loads of rock nights and good rock pubs back then, and you could even skin up in them without the landlord giving you grief...
Blimey. I saw this all of 35 years ago (I was 16). I remember it to this day. Never thought I'd see it again. Thanks you for the upload. Fond memories :-)
Love the sound metal and hard rock bands had from 79-83. Just thick and dirty and raw. Once 84 hit it all got too polished and lost a lot of it’s intensity. That’s why I love Motörhead. While everyone was chasing the slick L.A. sound in 85/86 they release Orgasmatron which is like an acid burn..lol
Girlschool's polished detour Play Dirty was Kelly's idea. Running Wild was much, much better. Then from Nightmare at Maple Cross onward their uncompromising raw edge was restored.
What an amazing bunch. To my great shame have to admit they went right past me at the time..In the meantime the great Kelly died..Should've trusted Lemmy...he did support them not for nothing.....Now he's gone to a higher plane too....Thanks for this *!!!*
@@flamejob4260, they are a band I have known and loved since I was 10 or 11 years old but seeing all the live footage of them here on TH-cam from their early days right up to the modern era has really made me appreciate just what a great band they are. I would rank them right up with AC-DC and Black Sabbath as one of my favourite rock bands.
This is ace. in many ways. Caroline Quentin, awful acting and obviously 'tamed down' behaviour by the band. And those memorable adverts. The whole package. Love it!
There was a picture of me taken with Kim in 1982 when they came to America at zig zag records on avenue U in Brooklyn. What ever happened to Enid Williams?I always put that picture under my pillow hoping for my first SHAG!
Love this....the cheesy set up mockumentary scenes...they're killing demolition boys! Yeah, and they're still growing old disgracefully like us...we'll those that are still alive! Girlschool forever!
i remember seeing them at the west hartford augora ball room in connecticut . even got a guitar pick from kelly and got to play a few cords with her . unrtunately some asshole stole my wallet that the pick was in
girlschool.fucking brilliant.lovley bunch of . ladies.shame one of them past away .hot ladies.and grate music.shold have listed to lemey kilminster.motorhead.as one person ternt around and Qwoteed.
It's funny, if you criticize Def leppard, or Angel Witch, or any of the multitude of metals best years, no one would say much. But, if you criticize Girlschool, their dimwit fans get overly protective and defensive. Seriously, sex is not the point here, the point is, this band really is not all that good. It's basic three chord stuff, that other bands can do so much better, Saxon being one of them.
Bruce Forrest Wow I've never seen Def Leppard and Angel Witch said in the same sentence. They always get put aside for their commercial direction. They don't bother thinking about their releases.
Whatever, mate. Saxon is a dull Iron Maiden rippoff, with 2½ hits to their name. Def Leppard was a good but an entirely different gig. Girlschool are good! If you don't like them, why are you here?
Never could figure out why some metal fans think you have to judge music based on how "complex" it is. Rock and roll isn't about technique, it's about attitude. A good song is a good song.
Kim ❤❤❤ I'm sooo in love with her. Along with Enid (who'd left by the time of this tv show) Kim was the founding member. She *is* Girlschool.
Kelly, we will never forget you ....never ever....RIP baby....😢😢😢😢😢
Kelly you were awesome! And you rocked those shorts at 29:12 .
Kelly, what an angel. I saw them in Albuquerque 1982 open for Saxon and Iron Maiden. Kim, Kelly, Gil, Denise just killed it!!!!
Kelly is a Goddess ― and my greatest guitar inspiration. Cheers!
Marky Ortiz yeah I was there too!
What a guitarist kelly was.sadly missed. You can what you like but she was THE female guitarist x
she was really good.i love his solo guitar style .
You´re right. She was a great guitarist.
The more I see of her the more I realise how great she was.
No just THE female.Love Kelly.

The last great decade.

Kelly’s Les Paul with mini-humbuckers sounds fucking amazing.
Nice fiddle I love Goldtops💟💣👊⚡💪🤸👍
The bridge pickup is a full-size humbucker. Probably a Dimarzio Super Distortion.
Wow, thank you soooo much! Even the adverts are fantastic!!
YES THEY DONT MAKE EM LIKE THAT ANYMORE.EVEN ADVERTS DECLINED OVER THE DECADES.
the cream of early British Metal. Love this.
Thanks for uploading this I used to have it and thought I would never see it again, brings back memories as I seen this tour.
No one mentioned it's Caroline Quentin presenting!!!

Spotted myself a couple of times :)
What month in 1982 was this Marquee Girlschool gig❓
@@tonyaltano7992 Now there's a question, it was a long time ago, the best I can do is say spring/early summer.
@@KaitlynnUK I have the answer. It was June 30, 1983.
@@tonyaltano7992 Thank you
@@KaitlynnUK You're welcome.
The sexiest greatest British female HM act ever ......word of Lemmy a notorious lady's man......GS is the female alter ego of Motorhead 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅❤❤❤❤❤

Great, I had forgotten all about this being on the telly.
Edmonton County School - always ROCKED !!!!!

Wow Girlschool at their peak AND Caroline Quentin!
kim is a dream girl ugh 😍
my gay is showing they're so adorable
Hahahaha
Enid once said they had gay, bi, straight and omnisexual in the band over the years.
@@Poleson that's awesome 🧡

She returned the band in the late 90s and stayed for 20 years
They released her in early 1982. Kim asked her to come back in '99. She did. Out again in early. 2019.
@@tonyaltano7992 Thanks for the info, I was wondering about Enid myself.
@@markhunter8554 You're welcome.
Wow, the presenter is a very young Caroline Quentin.
Great fun from a great band.

Kelly, sorry for your loss.
Christ, Gil was so hot back in the day
I wonder whatever happened to her?
gave up music got married and now works for the ohs in England apparently
Kim is absolutely gorgeous, and utterly charming as well, a lovely woman.
Peace, Love & Equality to her and the rest of the band.
BEST girlband E V E R ! !

i remember seeing them at the west hartford augora ball room in connecticut . even got a guitar pick from kelly and got to play a few cords with her . unrtunately some asshole stole my wallet that the pick was in
I wonder how they survived it when Kim said sometimes they lose money while touring.

Trying to figure out the make & model of the bass.
It looks like an Aria Pro II. She later played Hamers until she left the band.
A young Caroline Quentin at the start.
where's gils Red Sox ?
I thought Enid Williams was the bassist.
She left the band the first time in Feb. '82
Caroline Quentin talks a lot of shit until 01:45
