I went to Model World Live on day 2 (Sunday). I got to meet Pete Waterman and get a selfie with him. What an amazing achievement Pete and crew... many congrats 👍
Tremendous effort, I can even recognise the rugby grade separation near the end (my childhood station). My cousin would love this, he has modelled rugby station himself. Massive respect to all
This looks really like a 1:1 cab ride, no shortcuts in track layout due to space constraint, all is scaled down from the real track alignment. A quick calculation shows that 6 kilometers / 3,75 miles of real railway is modelled in the scenic section here and the train is doing a scale 72 km/h or 45 mph . Impressive!
Mindblowing! I thought this layout was immense when I saw it in Chester a few years ago. Looks like it's been extended considerably since then! Spent many a day spotting at MK Central (and Wolverton) as a kid, so that bit was cool and a bit nostalgic. Can't imagine how much dosh Pete has put into this but it is truly an incredible labor of love, and a pat on the back for the many hands and brains needed to set up and run this monster is much deserved!
Great video, I'm glad this was done as there may not be another chance - or will there? Congratulations to all involved, it's been an amazing project to follow.
congratulations Dave on a very successful weekend. i take it you will take many days to recover. Saw you hard at work with your camera on various youtubes. Caroline
Something didn't quite add up for me there, south of Rugby there is only one over bridge , Clifton road. The other bridge at 5:00 minutes, shown approximately 400yards south was an occupation bridge demolished at the time of electrification.
Great video Dave the layout looked great at the NEC on Saturday. The cab view looks inceadable. Once again well done To Pete and all the Railnuts .Look forward to the next load of videos and the new layout for Chester.Hope you all are taking a break.😁
For a few seconds it looks like its racing the big Class 37. How about moving the camera forward a couple of inches and using an old donor Hornby Class 86 chop off one of the cabs and fit it around your camera !
Having a dream and then having the wherewithal to realise it. A great achievement to get it so far along the track towards miniature mainline, even with whatever funds and however many team members. Having delighted in seeing the various videos and TV programmes on various iterations of this, there usually _are_ people. But I've never seen a single animal in any of the otherwise beautifully captured fields. Wass rong wiv im? Doan ee loyk cowz or summat?
Incredible layout just how big is this layout, is it a permanent layout ie does it just stay in one location or is it a exhibition layout because I imagine that it would take some time to set this layout up
Well done for getting it all running. I love all the curves. Next time, perhaps, there will be little people on the platforms? Perhaps they are camera shy? Or did they arrive once the layout was completed?
An interesting trip, 'in the land of giants', it seems & sounds to be going a fair clip, until the bloke walking alongside outpaces it without even trying.
The one niggle I see a lot is rails in real life are a rusty brown and on layouts its that one thing overlooked... Awesome layout nevertheless, the stuff of dreams lol
Probably authentically dressed, as Railroad Maintenance Crew. Safety Yellow, is primary color, for USA, with management identifying, with International Orange. I DON'T know about our neighbors, rules. I don't know about "Cab Ride", is more like: "Snidely Whiplash, tying Dudley Do-right's Girlfriend, NELL, To a yard chair, on a Flatcar, on the front of the ACELA, or the Euro-Star! Definitely Interesting !
Of course, the layout is not finished so it's maybe mistaken to assess it in this state, but to me the signalling made absolutely no sense and is not prototypical. Yes, one of the purposes of signalling is to break a line into small enough blocks to allow as many trains as possible to use the line, but the primary purpose is safety. A junction should always be protected by signals on all routes of entry, for example, but if you watch the video there's a siding coming onto the mainline with no protecting signal on either line and other examples that made me wince. I know it's only a model, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't think like a signal scheme designer when planning your model.
I'm not going to be popular for saying this, but it's boring, technically it's excellent, the work on all the fine details and buildings is superb, but in the end all it really is, is just a very large loop of mainline with a few stations and a couple of sidings that have no obvious use other than as storage locations. This does not detract from the quality of the work and the use of a modern setting is very nice. But Pete's desire for no people I feel makes it somewhat soul less. That said the sheer size of it is impressive, as an individual technically I am in awe, but emotionally I'm at a mehh stage. I'm not even sure if it will encourage more people to have a go themselves, it's after all not as if even Pete can have it set up and running in his own train barn. If you want an impressively sized loop to set a world record it's a winner but if you want to encourage people to take up the hobby themselves then I think it fails Sorry 😞
@@fatwalletboy2 I can easily admit it is technically very good whilst still finding it boring, in many ways the late 1950's/early 1960's were probably the most interesting times for a model railway layout, lots of small stations with shorter platforms and most stations had goods or coal sidings or both, this to me has more interest and potential than just running long trains through stations.

The length of that track, and attention to detail of the shrubbery etc, is absolutely unreal!
Well done, to all involved with this amazing feat.

Well done Pete and his volunteers for a remarkable layout and achievement

Superb
Absolutely smooth track and straight as an arrow when called for. Excellent video thanks
Absolutely fantastic! I couldn't believe how long that journey was. So much work and so much effort. A world record richly deserved!
Stunning guys....terrific and smooth as silk, very impressive. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing it with us all. We'll deserved records and award.

Such an excellent job, the people almost looked like giants since the set was so realistic!
Very very impressive, fantastic , the whole effect is brilliant,
Mind-boggling Genius, on display, throughout this Unique
Video,Mr. Waterman!Thanks!!

Congratulations for creating such a world record model railway. That was a fabulous ride.
Brilliant and the giant signs of the Food Bar and locomotive.
So realistic.

That was Amazing ,all your hard work has really paid off .😊& with a good team behind you it’s a job well done 😊.
That was well trippy. It's like you're going at 70mph then you see man walking next to you.
Great video Dave, and a great effort by the team to achieve a World Record 👏👏👏
Incredible,never miss a vid.
Had to stop for a toilet break at Milton Keynes 👍
Incredible layout, great team of people building and running it and a great weekend at Key Model World Live
Own up, who was slightly disappointed the tunnels weren't fully lined as exposed rock effect and looked damp. Well done all. Great layout
But they wouldn't be exposed rock anyway they would be brickwork.
Really cool foliage beside the tracks.
That was amazing! However, those trackside worker figures in the reflective vests were not to scale.
Great video, I'm glad this was done as there may not be another chance - or will there? Congratulations to all involved, it's been an amazing project to follow.
Apart from the massive size I am really impressed with the catenary, the masts seem the correct distance apart and it zig zags like the prototype.
Wonderful layout, very atmospheric and realistic!

That is a remarkable layout! I drive over the real railway and I am impressed with how accurate it is. It should have been done "right-road" though.
Oh to have that much space "to play trains".😍
felt like i was in the land of the giants🚂🚂
Just awesome lads well done to everyone
Were you on the ronge trac , ie we drive everything on the left
Just Fantastic.

That's good night see you at Chester .
That's insane!!! Insanely brilliant. :)
That's awesome, well done 🤓
Wow! that was amazing!
Fantastic video, Dave!! 😁👍🏼
Whilst I'm not interested in today's railways, preferring instead the Edwardian times and the 1950s, this is impressive!
Interesting that its quieter in the non scenic parts (tunnels). Is that because of the lack of ballast? That Bushey viaduct was absolutely amazing.
For a few seconds it looks like its racing the big Class 37.

Next week Pete heads to Hertfordshire to unveil his layout depicting the whole of the East Coast Mainline in O-Gauge.
Absolutely brilliant great inspiration be great to see really long trains running if that was possible ? Well done

what a track. Great to see Hagrid at the end. Must have been waiting for the Hogwarts Express
Congratulations on your World Record, are there any plans to display it again this year? Provided you can find a venue large enough 😅
Thanks Dave for capturing the whole journey. Chris looking for stolen cars?
Absolutely fantastic.
I now want a model railway (the wife says NO😢)
Thats fine. No more eyelash, nails or hair appointments then.😂
It looks so fast until you see a guy *walking* faster!
Does P W own the entire building it’s housed in? Well deserved record, magnificent achievement.
It is an amazing model. Why was this 'cab ride' all 'wrong line' with no working signals?
My only regret was I could never lay the so flat and smooth, to me it is the sign of a cracking layout.
Incredible layout just how big is this layout, is it a permanent layout ie does it just stay in one location or is it a exhibition layout because I imagine that it would take some time to set this layout up
I didn't see the ovaltine factory at Milton Keynes 🏴✌️
That's because it's at King's Langley.
@@davidray6762 okay David, what's the big factory at MK, I used to load at a factory there, I was sure it was Ovaltine, 🏴✌️
It would have been nice to see the engine before you began. Great non the less.
As it a railway, the hi viz jackets should be orange😅😅
I think that the camera should have been placed further forward to avoid looking at the base of the rolling stock.
Not sure if I missed them but are there any signals?
cool vid on channel well done get the world record
I'd like to see a photo of the power supply.
Very nicely done scenery. And immersive experience. Question, given this is a modular layout, how do you connect the catenary between modules?
Yes, it's all connected.
@@DaveFenton Yes, but doesn't the catenary need to come apart when modules are moved?
Well done for getting it all running. I love all the curves. Next time, perhaps, there will be little people on the platforms? Perhaps they are camera shy? Or did they arrive once the layout was completed?
Why are they wearing high viz jackets? Is that in case the trains don't "see" them? :)))
Where is it located?
Why's it on wrong track?
Don’t remember seeing any signals at the show, did they run out of time for signalling?
I doubt if the reason was money.
So where is it now? Was it a collaboration of model railway clubs?
Question: is this in O gauge? I thought that was the gauge used, according to articles.
@@ivormacadam It's OO Gauge.
What's with all the Hi-Viz???
An interesting trip, 'in the land of giants', it seems & sounds to be going a fair clip, until the bloke walking alongside outpaces it without even trying.
I wonder if Sir Rodney Stewart had any part of this....
Why running on wrong track ?
Its not a train set, train sets are what kids used to get at Christmas
Beautiful job fella’s……shame the detail didn’t extend to people
Amazing...og utrolig...(Norwegian)
Such a tiny layout lads! Can't all of you build one at least decently a little larger, eh!
The one niggle I see a lot is rails in real life are a rusty brown and on layouts its that one thing overlooked... Awesome layout nevertheless, the stuff of dreams lol
Wrong line working? 😅😅😅
Its on the 'Up' fast. Quad track. The 'Down' is further over if you look.
That’s what I was thinking, heck of a train set though 👌
Milton Keynes woooooooh
Why are they all dressed in hi viz jackets? It's not likely that they are at risk of being run over by a train.
