Today another video in the VS THE REST series, a new type of comparison, one running shoe in an out and out battle against many others! I have received loads of requests for comparisons of the NIKE PEGASUS 39 vs lots of other models. I shall work my way through the 2021/2022 shoes to give a real feel for how it shapes up.

I was looking for a new racing shoe a few months back and had a go in the adios 6. It wasn't top of my list but I couldn't find the hyperion tempo or endorphin speed 2 any where so gave it a go. Just couldn't get on with it. Found with the gusseted tongue it was too fiddly for me to get on and found the rear foam too firm as a heel striker. Sent them back after a few days wearing them round the house and got supremely lucky to find a local shop had just got in some more endorphins! They have been an absolute revelation above even what I was expecting from them. With the fitness gains I've made over winter I'm now within touching distance of the sub 90 minute half and a lot of credit has to go to the plate and the speedroll design of them, helping me through the cycle late on when my legs are trying to slow. Using them for races only so hope to get a good few years use out of them. Roll on great manchester run HM!
Just picked up the Adios 6 while on vacation at the Adidas factory store based on your glowing reviews about the shoe. They were 50% off plus a 20% teacher discount which lowered them to $48 USD.

I love my Floatride 3's so I'm really tempted to pick the 4's up. I'm also super excited to try out the Adidas Adizero Pro 2 which I managed to pick up brand new for £100!

Just tried out Pegasus 39. Big improvement on the 38. I liked the 38, but really like the 39. The weight reduction is noticeable in my size (UK 10). Only potential downside is that I'm seeing the rubber wearing down a little bit faster than it did in the 38
It does seem more flexible than the last version in the outsole

4 shoe rotation. What're you choosing?
For me, metaspeed sky for races, endo speeds for tempo days, perhaps the shift for longer runs/daily miles and the novablast for daily/easy days.
I'm yet to try a reebok, puma, nike or adidas shoe though. Tend tk stick to what i know - hoka, saucony and asics. Never disappoint so i find it tough to switch, but there's a few shoes I'd really like to try

Loving the Floatride 4’s, nice update to the upper and for me just a better quality shoe than what you get from anything other than top range Nike with the poor stitching, glue patches etc. Pretty much always agree with EB but Adios 6 just didn’t work for me at all just find lightstrike far too firm.
The Adios 6 does really loosen up over time. But energy 4 is top draw value.

If you have the additional cash Rupinder go for the peg. Otherwise the energy 4 is a brilliant shoe for the money.

After a lot of deliberation , I hooked myself up with a pair of adios 6 for just over 50 pounds

In my opinion the lower weight is due to the different React foam.
It reminds me of the original Epic React or Odyssey React which were a lot lighter. The foam is not as dense as in the Peg 37/38.

I freaking love the epic react, have 3 pairs that I use for walking cuz the comfort and looks is amazing :D
I find with the Adios 6, I have make an extra effort to tighten the laces tightly before heading out. All too often I find they seem to loose once I start moving in them.

Hi Edd, the comparison of the Nike Pegasus 39 with the properties of the Puma Nitro Velocity 2, which is the most beneficial or are they just the same type of shoe but from a different brand
I am always surprised how long runners tend to last in the well branded shoes
I use peg for daily runs and Adios 6 for tempo/racea
A good and affordable rotation
I'm tempted by the Pegasus 39, but maybe a little later in the year as I've still got plenty of footwear in reserve.
Will you be picking up a pair of the React Infinity Run 3 at any point? I'm on my 3rd pair of the original and they've really worked well for me over the longer runs. Bonjour!
I shall review the infinity run 3 just for you my good man. You know it makes sense. One day we shall me and have a swift half ( or 10 ) and some light conversation. ( Christmas episode season 1 )

Pegasus is wider in the underfoot surface area. Adios is more narrow
Edd - What about the Puma Eternity Nitro? There are very few reviews but they look like they compare to the Velocity Nitro 2. Any chance you will review them as a budget shoe for half & full marathon trainers?
Might pick them up but too many shoes in for testing at the mo
So this and the next one could be the ones to stock up on before they release a couple of mediocre versions... I have learned that the air zoom doesnt do much for me so I'm waiting for your puma review!
They are watching me from the other side of the room. My son loves the Puma velocity 2. He opens the box examines them and shuts the box again.

Edd, in know you love the Adios 6, would it work up to Marathon distance do you think? Or is that a bit too much for it. Think 39’s will be fine but tempted by the A6 based on your love affair with the shoe! 😉
If you wore the adios 6 for a marathon your knee caps and feet would be absolutely destroyed trust me

39’s for me. Similar shoe but better upper fit.
Will you feel the air pods more as the react foam compresses? Will we have to wait for the 300 mile review?

between asics magic speed and peg39, which one will you recommend? both are of the similar price range in my country
Very different shoes. The peg is a good daily shoe. The magic speed is a higher paced session option.
I have pegasus 39 and i need some shoe for interval and race short distance , better i buy adidas rc 4 or i stay on my pegasus 39

Do you think the peg 38 or 39 is better for easy/recovery runs. I am not sure if one is better. Also would the peg or a infinity react be better for daily training if I already have a workout and race shoe
Personally the peg 39 is a good daily shoe. Perhaps a tad firm for recovery. Though it’s down to what you want from such a run really
@@EDDBUD Is the peg good for long runs. The longest I will go is around 8-9 miles but I am just starting to increase my mileage so my legs have been more tired.
adios 6 in my normal size have toes almost 1/2 inch too long. very narrow. too narrow in the heel to give comfortable stride. pressure on sides like a vice grip. uncomfortable shoe imo. unable to fathom EB's enthusiasm. midsole is ok but inital spring much reduced after about 30 miles. and, if u like taking 5 min/day to get ur shoe and like too short tongues u will love this shoe.
only thing stopping me now from peg 39, the colourways...who knows by the time nike release more colourways, adidas will release adios 7?

They throw mad sales almost constantly in the uk!
@@EDDBUD they do here as well but Floatrides are almost always excluded. Black Friday was the only time I’ve been able to get the Floatride series on sale. Really stinks because I can use teacher discount codes anytime.

No mainly road and pavement. Didn’t have much wear at all really on the outsole.
@@EDDBUD I’m going to chalk it up to my running style, it that I’m eating through the out soul but I do have visible wear (evenly) with about 150km on them
I tried a pair of said brand with the Fancy tire company bottom… that stuff wore right off… had that issue 30+ years ago with the same tire company’s product on my road bike… I figured they’d gotten it right by now… nope…
Peg 39 vs Vomero 16?
Quite different shoes now. The Vomero would be my choice perhaps for longer runs.
I knew I wasn't going mad about the React foam being different. The 37 feels absolutely solid underfoot even at 100 miles in my pair.
You're completely right that the Trail 3 is softer, totally noticeable in the first few steps 🤷♂️

Good review. But i feel it's unfair to compare Peg 39 to Puma Nitro. Peg 39 should be compared to Puma Nitro 2.
The velocity nitro? No a good comparison for feel, price and use.

I'm using Velocity Nitro 2 now. Simply love it. A very good daily trainer. I need to get a 2nd pair for my rotation, need similar daily trainer. Any recommendations? I need it somewhere around $90

I prefer the 39 though if you have some long runs to do the Vomero 16 is a good choice.
Velocity nitro 2 why not 2? Haha its better then the 1 . Laces fixed foam fixed dual layer foam nitro infused sweetness. Try them faster edd.. can't u do 2 runs a day to keep up with your shoes !? Anyway thanks again for the great vid

@@EDDBUD When you held the shoe at that angle (and we're looking at it straight down from the top), the front of the Reebok Energy 4 (toe cap) looks like teeth.
