  • VW Golf GTE ACC Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist .... Almost Crash my Car.
    A short test of ACC Adaptive Cruise Contron and Lane assist show that you should never trust them. But ACC is really cool. Lane Assist almost crash me on other road band.

    The system is not made for the city or countryside... read the specs. It's not an Auto Pilot.
    ALSO: you dont have the traffic jam assist integrated in your car. You can see it because below 60 km/h your lane assist symbol turns orange, so the system will never work below 60 km/h. With traffic jam assist the lane assist also works from 0-60 km/h. Don't complain about a system you're not familiar with.
    Maybe you can explain that in your descriction.

      Ok Oliver maybe you are right.

    • @VeloVaper
      @VeloVaper 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, just to recap, the system is made for the:
      ☒ city
      ☒ countryside
      ☒ sky (auto pilot)
      ☑ sea ?
      Holy crap did Volkswagen make an amphibious car? Like James Bond's lotus? Do want!

      @@VeloVaper I think he means it's for the multi lane highway style roads, at higher speeds. Not meant for twisty single lane roads with oncoming traffic.
      I'm guessing, it holds its lane by monitoring the surrounding vehicles and not so much the line markings? Many of the roads around the world, even/especially in the UK here, the lines are fading badly and can lead to issues, even with Tesla's Autopilot!
      Edit: Okay, I was wrong, it works on line recognition, but you have to have everything turned on it seems! th-cam.com/video/iCwBgQY0q6E/w-d-xo.html

    Lane assist isn´t meant to be handless driving. It´s just there to keep you in the middel of the road, if you sway out on the white lines

      Yes you are right. This is my conclusion to.

    it's called lane assist. it helps you stay in your lane. it's not made to completely take over. it's not an automatic driving car. that's why when you went around the turn without your hands on the wheel, you drifted out of the lane, because you're trying to make the car do all the work. same thing with a dental assistant and a dentist. the assistant is only there to help.

    I just testdrove a Golf yesterday and I gotta say Travel assist worked 100% perfectly. Even in the city without stripes, even on hard bends on country roads. Maybe they updated the software since 2018, because I was utterly impressed. Stayed perfectly in the middle all the time

    • @SDADanCars
      @SDADanCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the update it 🙂👍now it works very good

      @@SDADanCars It's very good indeed! Do you know if the 4+1 speaker setup is ONLY for the front? So 2 in the doors? 2 in the pillars and one in the middle front? During my testdrive I didn't notice any sound coming from the back - is that only with the 6+1 system?
      Also - At 120 km/h, do you think the Diesel or eTSI is more quiet from engine noise?

    • @SDADanCars
      @SDADanCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Etsi is more quiet. Not sure about speakers 🤔

    You can program lane assist to be better with VCDS. You can also use a Comma2 to get really good lane keeping.

    Lane assistant and cruise control is a great tool for those who have long drives, not cities or that kind of roads. But anyway, I can't wait to buy this car next mounth

    This is what I call the Tesla effect. People think Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) somehow mean autonomous driving. LOL right

  • @yangli1594
    @yangli1594 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    yes, it is about trust. If the lane assist can give some response earlier than the driver and give some info on HMI to let the driver know the vehicle works well, maybe can improve the trust.

  • @iankonstantino6648
    @iankonstantino6648 ปีที่แล้ว

    This isnt travel or lane assist. This is only Lane Keep assist. It wont keep you in the middle of the lane, will only help you not cross the over to the other lane. If you want it to drive in the middle you need "Travel Assit" or "Lane Assist"

    it is for motorway driving or Major roads NOT in the city etc. You are Misusing it.

    Did you enable the adaptive lane assistant in the car settings? By default it is disabled and more or less a protection against accidentally leaving the lane.

    Please let us know if the upgrade helps. Im considering buying a GTE, but if lane assist is this bad, id just leave that option out, and save some money..

    Does this ACC work in manuals as well or only automatic transmission? if yes, then, what gear does one have to be in in order to come to a complete stop and still be able to get back to speed of 80kmh without manually shifting?

    • @SDADanCars
      @SDADanCars  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, I wish I will know this answer to.🤔🤔🙄😊👍

    • @TherealAlibaba
      @TherealAlibaba 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have manual Golf and ACC works however if gear shift is required it simply tells you to to change the gear. Keep in mind ACC only works for speeds above 25mph.

    • @TherealAlibaba
      @TherealAlibaba 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would have to take control if speed is too low and deal with gears as it is manual. If speed goes low and obstacles move then it goes up but ACC would not work from start. Minimum 25mph. It's only there to assist in long highway journeys. It's not an auto pilot therefore driver should always be ready for any situation including climbing uphill making gear changes in manual.

    I use mine all the time in cities and rural areas. You just have to be aware of what the radar can see. It's easy for it to lose the car ahead on twisty roads, and then the automated system will just floor it until you reach the target speed haha

    It’s called Lane Departure Assist. So you can’t release the steering wheel. It tries to bring you back into the lane. But in Mercedes and Tesla, they have Lane Keep Assist and it tries to keep your car in the center of the lane.

    • @mariamkarnaugh8861
      @mariamkarnaugh8861 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As others already said: This is not a system designed to drive the car. It is a system designed to assist you in steering. You are required to supply most of the steering force in a curve. The lane assist will just add a few extra percent for fine corrections and keep you on track. This is not a Tesla, this is not autonomous driving. Regardless of any upgrades.
