    Thank you very much. The VW handbook is too ambiguous. I thought the RES button meant Reset 👍🏼

    I had no idea how ACC would be useful. The demo video while driving was much more helpful than the stationary demo videos. Great job!

    The main button should just have ACC written on it - would be more intuitive. Great vid, thanks.

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2022 T-Roc (UK) and the only times I have tried the ACC I found it B.....Dangerous. The theory is good and it is fitted to so many of the VW range is surely cant be all that bad. One thing you didn't manage to cover in your video however was its use on the open road in particular the overtaking situation. Mine simply locks on to the vehicle in front, the one you are about to overtake and slows you down to its speed irrespective of you position on the road. You need to actively accelerate past it which I don't think is the manufacturers concept. There doesn't seem to be a conventional cruise control option on the UK model either. Anyway food for thought I will go back and have a look at my setting. Thanks again

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With pretty much every adaptive cruise control system I’ve used, it allows you to accelerate passed the pre-set speed to pass with the throttle pedal, and then drops back down to the pre-set speed when you take your foot off the gas. That’s par for the course, and IMO the safer way to overtake. The ACC systems accelerate too slowly for overtaking on a two lane road

    • @patrickfarrell4751
      @patrickfarrell4751 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely agree...used it last night for the 1st time and the bloody thing just has a mind of its own, literally slamming the brakes on when it 'saw' a sign saying 40 which didn't exist
      Cruise control is great but this version...NO THANKS VW!

    • @SmigGames
      @SmigGames 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're not supposed to rely on ACC to overtake, unless it's two lanes going in the same direction, of course, but even then, it stops you from overtaking on the side where you shouldn't (left in the UK, right in EU). My 2020 Leon keeps track of vehicles on my left (EU) and prevents me from speeding past them. Not sure if that's what threw you off there.

    • @SmigGames
      @SmigGames 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@patrickfarrell4751The sign issue may be very circumstantial to that spot, I'm not sure, but you might be able to disable the ACC adjusting to the signs. My 2020 Leon has that option somewhere under the ACC options. I actually prefer to have it disabled because I have the reverse issue where it doesn't see some speed limit signs, perhaps because they're out of the camera angle or something, so I prefer the predictability of setting the speeds myself.

      @@SmigGames Thanks, I will look i nto it
      There actually wasn't a sign it was a national speed limit with traffic doing that
      I wondered if it is possibly linked to the navigation as well...there were roadworks along the stretch but not in the bit I was on...maybe it had some info stored that had not been updated

    • @CarDietrich

      No, the current VW systems do not react to road signs. They just read them and tell you what the speed limit is where you are

    Thank you for this. Is the shortest following distance the one where the bar is towards the back of the vehicle when locked on? I recently used ACC while traveling on the freeway and seemed to be slowing down to about 50-60 while it was set to 70 soon as it saw a vehicle then I had a few angry people up my backside bc I wasn't going fast enough.

    Might sound stupid but how does this work with manual cars? I’m assuming you have to change gears when it slows itself down and accelerates on it its own ? But when you put your foot on the clutch does it turn itself off or only when you press the break?

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The only car with a stick shift I have experience with such a system in is my own 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec Tech. That car won’t bring itself to a complete stop, it will only slow down to 20 mph and then disengage the Adaptive Cruise and prompt the driver to take over. You can shift gears while Adaptive Cruise is engaged, but technically you don’t have to. The way that car is geared it will for from 20 MPH to 90 MPH (the maximum speed you can set the adaptive cruise for) in sixth gear.

      From my experience in manual troc, you must change gears yourself... just legs away from accelerator ... if you break acc turns off... i all not sure if it is same with other cars though..

    Perhaps if VW group would call this 'Autopilot' ala Tesla they would make a lot of money for a month with vaporwear for investors in the know 🤣 Sorry, I know this is a low blow but Tesla is just so funny.
    I myself will buy a new VW EV this year and parents the new Nissan EV. Both companies have solid products and functionality that works.
    Also - nice video that shows how this function actually works.

    • @CarDietrich

      To quote Frank Lopez from Scarface, "Don't get high on your own supply."
      The actual answer is the environment that Ferdinand Piech created when he was at the helm of that company was one of SUCCESS AT ANY COST. I call the years he was in charge Volkswagen's "Wehrmacht" years. I'd like to make a video about all those cars (Phaeton, Touareg V10 TDI, Passat W8, Veyron) someday. But its a big project.

      @@CarDietrich Interesting. I haven't really dwelled on the inner workings of VW during those years. I'm glad though that the record braking fines and the changes within the company seems to have put VW in a very right track. From a European perspective I know that VW Group makes excellent cars and the 'clean diesel emission hoaxl' to me seems like an attempt to gain marketshare in the US during the 90s/2010s.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, from a US perspective they put the final nail in the coffin of diesel cars here, which makes me sad. I actually bought a 2013 Jetta TDI Wagon in 2018 after it had been fixed. It was a great car, drove fantastic and it was very practical but the TDI fix did hurt fuel economy. Sold it to Carvana in the Summer of 2021 for stupid money and then they sold it for even more lol
