These boxes are very close for me. When I released my km2 plus deluxe video, I said I hadn't been more impressed with another AndroidTV box since I got my nVidia shield. Now that I've seen and tested this box, I basically said the same thing, meaning this one impressed me even a little bit more. For two examples, The MeCool didn't do quite as well changing from channel to channel with IPTV or when jumping forwards and backwards while streaming a 4K movie from USB 2.0. The Spec's are virtually identical, but this one is $30-40 cheaper, depending on the deal you get. PLUS, you have to pay for shipping on the MeCool and wait much longer to get it, while this one is in stock on Amazon and you can have it in two days with Amazon Prime.
I have one of each. The Pro in the Living Room, and the Tube in the Master bedroom. That said, I JUST (literally 10 minutes) ago, swapping this one in place of the Pro in the Living Room because the NS-Pro is in need of a factory reset to speed things up again. Thanks for watching!
LI the box is great I run into a situation I was wondering if you have the same problem I have I can’ t turn the TV off at the same time with the same remote
This could be for one of a couple of different reasons, depending on the options you chose when setting it up, and also the settings on your TV. The G1 gets turned on & off via BlueTooth, whereas the TV normally gets turned on & off via Infrared, which means, if you selected your brand of TV when setting this up, you may not be pointing the remote at the TV's infrared received well enough to turn it on or off. If you chose NOT to configure your TV when setting up this box, it will try to use the built-in 'HDMI-CEC" feature to shut to turn your TV on & off via the remote talking to the box via Bluetooth (not infrared) through the HDMI cable. BUT - for that to work you might need to enable HDMI-CEC on your TV. Google it, as the setting is different for each model TV. If that doesn't help, send me an email with details of what's happening and I'll try to help. info@cordcuttersli.com
Thanks for the helpful review! 😀 Really tempted to try this box! ..but, i read that there's no option to turn HDR off ..will that be a problem if i only have a 1080p TV? ..and also, did you encounter any issue since recording this video?
@@CordCuttersLIThanks for the fast reply! 😀 I'm afraid that since a 1080p display won't support HDR, it will wash out all the colors converting them back to SDR and it'll look terrible! 😟 One more thing, do you know whether its a 32 or 64 bit OS?
Beware: reliable apps for main TV channels in UK are iffy. Channel 5 works fine; Channel 4 unavailable; ITVX available but doesn't work; BBC iPlayer unavailable (one version available elsewhere half-works, but won't open all live channels). A pity, as performance-wise it's better than the Firestick & Firecube.
Ok i was going to buy the fire tv max which was on sale for 39.99 but i seen this video and decided to get this for the spare living room. I usually stream on my Xbox but i very rarely play games. Just can’t justify spending more money for Nvidia shield just to stream , so hoping this works well without the buffering.
How did it work out ? Less buffer that firestick 4k max ? About the same ? I think if the stream source has buffer it doesn't matter how fast your device is ?
Just buy a cheap android box and get a subscription to a service. The services can be very cheap per month. Buying a fully loaded box the upfront cost is crazy. And there is a chance it wont work for you.
@bigbadjohnpesek9894 is spot on. Virtually any $20-30 streaming device plus a $12-15/month sub will be just as good or better. Can't speak too much on this subject here. My website's homepage (in video description) may help you out tho. 😉
We'll see. Although some of these companies are horrible with updates, not all are created equal. I'm keeping track of the version this is on right now, and will be keeping track. Stay tuned for an update.
I've often thought about doing this but how do you set it up to turn off/on with a remote, have the googleTV GUI, etc. I could use an airmouse to do everything but idk if I want my tv to just be a PC.
not really, antutu benchmark: KinHank G1 90.000 VS Nvidia Shield 250.000 Look for tv box built-in RK3588 chip for shield killer, it has score 500.000 but no netflix
With 10/100 Ethernet, the trade off is to use WiFi 6 but WiFi 6E would be even better. Netflix requires 25 M so only one of these is ok. GigE is better and not that expensive. Especially if your local LAN is all GigE to communicate with local servers. It makes a huge difference. The USB 2.0 is so disappointing in 2024. Although you don’t need it for wired keyboards and Mice, you need it for expanding memory with C-type USB flash and even USB 3.2 flash drives are now economical. What bothers me is there is mostly likely no more Android updates to this box. It will never get upgraded to the next version of Android. But more importantly is support for HDR, HDR 10, HDR 10+… And so on. HDMI 2.1 would be nice to have along with 4K@120mhz. I would put my money on NVIDA shield keeping up instead of an Android TV box that is going out of date in a few years. It’s certainly better that a Google Chromecast with TV or Firestick Lite. The memory for those devices is a joke. You are left with only a few Gigabytes for your apps. 32G of internal is adequate. Even though you can expand memory on the Google, it doesn’t run as well as having more internal memory. Just look at the Android phone, finally upgrading RAM on the lower end phones and at least 32G internal flash. Higher end phones have even more RAM and internal Flash. Android TV will need to adapt to this in the future.
Wow, thank you for that lengthy review/comment. I'd agree with most of it. The one thing you didn't mention is an alternative in the same price range with same or similar spec's. And as for Updates.. It's too soon to tell. Granted, some Android Box companies are horrible with update (ie. MeCool), whereas others (ie. Homatics) are great! Time will tell with KinHank. Thanks again!
I bought this because of your video thanks! But I have one issue maybe you can help me sir. I sideload off downloaded and if go into the apps it’s there I can open it from there very inconvenient . It’s not showing up on my home page or apps on homepage .
Im thinking of replacing my nvidia tube, its working ok with most apps but seems to lag often watching tivimate, which is my main source of content viewing. Looking at this for my mext option. Would yoi recomend this or any other device that will run tivimate next to perfect?
No I haven't but I will check it out now, I've been on the fence with mecool, buzztv or just another Chinese android box which works pretty good in the bedroom
That depends on the app and/or the stream you're watching. If you can't turn off subtitles in the app, the stream you're watching might have hard-coded subtitles.
The Android boxes that people have been talking about with the potential malware are NOT official AndroidTV and NOT Netflix Certified. Those boxes would never get those certifications.
@@CordCuttersLI Received the box yesterday afternoon. I quickly and easily set it up this morning. SMOKING! My wife uses the Paramount+ app a lot; it was dog-slow on her older Firestick. The app would fail to load half the time and usually took 30 seconds to load when it did work. On this device, it loads instantly. Happy wife, happy life!
Hey Ricky, No, you didn't miss it because it isn't there, sorry. I only have a SoundBar which works perfectly via Bluetooth and Digital Out from the TV, which is what I normally use. Yes! But the home button may be problematic with Launcher manager. You may need to use Button Remapper and use one of the App buttons you don't need to open the Launcher.

Hmm, that's debatable. Which sub-$100 box has 1Gb/s Ethernet AND USB 3.0? and, other than taking more time to copy stuff from a computer, why is either of those things a deal breaker? Did you see the part in the video where I quickly fast forward/rewind back and forth MANY times while streaming a 4K video without skipping a beat? No buffereing, no lagging, no stuttering. Worked Perfectly.
Lololol Nvidia Shield killer. This box doesn't hold a candle to the Shield. It is lacking so many important features that the Shield supports you'd be better off comparing it to the CCWGTV 4K. I ordered one from Amazon to try it and it was a spectacular fail. Laggy, weak LAN support, missing codecs for high end audio, Dolby Vision support is poor, etc. I used it for 2 days then sent it back. Just because a device supports great specs on paper doesn't always mean that translates to high performance real world streaming. Hard pass for me...
Is that just based on what Linus Tech Tips generalized on his TH-cam video about such boxes, or did you actually find it on this particular G1 box? I was thinking of getting this G1 box, but if you can prove that it has malware on it, then I won't buy it... thanks...
another cheap china box. .pick it up for less than 35 dollar if you know where to look..it does the job,..defo not a shield killer ...your reckoning is if its cheaper than shield its a shield killer...also if you test the specs on this box...they are not all they say they are...like i say will do the job...but dont go paying more than 50 dollar for it
It has some things that the nVidia Shield doesn't have as well. What's important to one person isn't as much for someone else and vice versa; wouldn't you agree? .
Setting this up is so easy, I don't feel a video is necessary. That said, if you have any issues whatsoever, please send me an email with your specific questions and I'll be happy to help.

hi am getting sound from the system telling me what apps am opening and introducing every thing apps setting the apps exct on that box how to turn that system souund off please
Looks like a great device. Does it have an option for using it with a 1440p screen? And if it does, are there anywere near to the shield's AI downscale features for doing so? The Shield-TV does with a bit of fiddling with HDMI settingsd in dev mode, and it's a main feature I think any shield killer will need to address. Would be cool if you could do a 1440p shield vs KinHank video.
When Amazon takes away sideloading then what ? They're making plans to leave the Android platform. If you turn care about sideloading, then I hope all goes well
Some people who can't hardwire the box would argue that Wifi-6, which the nVidia Shield does NOT have supports up to 3x the speed and throughout the Wifi-5 the Shield has. For those people, they might like this box. To each his (or her) own, right? 👍👍
I dont tink usb 3.0 is not much more expensive to put on a device...all new boxes shud b usb 3.0...this box is very good other wise tho...definately better than a fire stick...ohh...n the ethenet port should of been the faster version
Agreed on the USB 3.0 thought. However, did you see the part of the video when I quickly jumped back and forth in the 4K video without even a hint of buffering or hiccups? For most streaming needs, USB 3 just isn't needed. (I will say that it's faster to copy from a PC to the USB drive though). Yes, although the LAN port is only 10/100 Mb/s, a) that's plenty fast enough for ALL current streaming content, b) this box comes with Wifi-6 which is rare among these boxes. Even the almighty nVidia Shield doesn't support Wifi-6
@@CordCuttersLI yes u are quite right...this G1 box wifi is better...saw some one did a side by side wifi speed test...man it blow the shield away...most people uss wifi than direct cord to...so the slower ethernet issue is not a deal breaker. This box is very solid....

I'm still using it in my Living room. Haven't had any issues. I haven't tried it on a 1080p TV, but I wouldn't think there'd be an issue.
@@CordCuttersLIThanks for the fast reply! 😀
I'm afraid that since a 1080p display won't support HDR, it will wash out all the colors converting them back to SDR and it'll look terrible! 😟
One more thing, do you know whether its a 32 or 64 bit OS?
ok I just check the specification on Amazon sopport Dolby Digital Plus audio technology ,this device support Enhanced AC-3????🤔
Doesn't seem to be available in the U.K. I'll wait. Subbed, many thanks. 👍

Its on eBay £87
eBay UK took charge of it last week, came from Manchester
Ok i was going to buy the fire tv max which was on sale for 39.99 but i seen this video and decided to get this for the spare living room. I usually stream on my Xbox but i very rarely play games. Just can’t justify spending more money for Nvidia shield just to stream , so hoping this works well without the buffering.
I think you'll like it. 👍
How did it work out ? Less buffer that firestick 4k max ? About the same ? I think if the stream source has buffer it doesn't matter how fast your device is ?
Is there an android box besides the Super Box tangula that has thousands of channels less than $100? Thanks
Yeah TH-cam doesn't like talking about IPTV. I have had a service that was only $9 a month that worked great. There are a lot of choices.
Is there a box that is as powerful as this with same RAM and storage, but with gigabit ethernet? I'm good with paying over $100.
What about firmware updates, probably not and support.
We'll see. Although some of these companies are horrible with updates, not all are created equal.
I'm keeping track of the version this is on right now, and will be keeping track. Stay tuned for an update.
Is there any streaming box that we can purchase legally that do not support ad like Fire stick does?
At $100, one might also want to consider just getting a mini-PC that would run circles around this with a Bluetooth keyboard.
I've often thought about doing this but how do you set it up to turn off/on with a remote, have the googleTV GUI, etc. I could use an airmouse to do everything but idk if I want my tv to just be a PC.
If I use with Plex for my media server can I get Dolby True HD (ATMOS) audio like with the Nvidia Shield Pro ?🤔
Plex is garbage.
Jellyfin is way better.
Hi, So how does this compare to the Homatics Box R 4k plus please?
no different, because it has same CPU S905X4
the box is coming in the mail today. im psyched.
Great! make sure to come back and let us know how you like it!

there is a slot for TF card will it help the more memory?
Yes! 😊
they come up with all these great specs and dump a lousy 10/100Mbps lan on you... imo that says it all about the overall quality
Hello how are you doing I just have a SONY SMART TV ITS NOT 4K ITS JUST FOR BLUE-RAY WILL THIS BOX STILL WORK FOR ME
If it has an available HDMI port, yes! No problem.
Hey BoB so how do I put my cinema HD on this box do I need a special code on downloader to get it on there and thank you in advance.
It's pretty much the same as with the firestick. You use downloader
not really, antutu benchmark: KinHank G1 90.000 VS Nvidia Shield 250.000
Look for tv box built-in RK3588 chip for shield killer, it has score 500.000 but no netflix
Which app did you install and from where did you download it?
Im thinking of replacing my nvidia tube, its working ok with most apps but seems to lag often watching tivimate, which is my main source of content viewing. Looking at this for my mext option. Would yoi recomend this or any other device that will run tivimate next to perfect?
Now that I've had this on my main TV for a fee weeks, if I was picking today, I'd choose the Homatics Box R 4k plus. Have you seen my video on that?
No I haven't but I will check it out now, I've been on the fence with mecool, buzztv or just another Chinese android box which works pretty good in the bedroom
@CordCuttersLI no issues with viewing live content on tivimate? I've just watched your review on the device, thanks for the reply !
I got the box awesome 😎
Listing at a penny below $100 now. Lol. Too much for this box. Maybe around $75 at most.
Well, there's still an 8% Coupon you can click on to bring it down to $91.99. That plus Free Amazon Prime Shipping ? 🤷♂️
How do you add downloader?
How do i get rid of subtitles i have tried everthing
That depends on the app and/or the stream you're watching. If you can't turn off subtitles in the app, the stream you're watching might have hard-coded subtitles.
But can I access my recast with this, probably not?So I would have to buy another thing.
Are you referring to the FireTV recast? I'm not overly familiar with that, but I think you can only do that on the FireTV recast device
Yep that's right @@CordCuttersLI
Does the volume adjust the volume on the TV itself ot just the box?
You can configure it either way. It depends on whether you define your television in the settings for the remote buttons
@@CordCuttersLI thank you. Great channel
What’s the warranty?
I am worried many of these come with malware installed.
The Android boxes that people have been talking about with the potential malware are NOT official AndroidTV and NOT Netflix Certified. Those boxes would never get those certifications.
@@CordCuttersLI Thanks
Where can I purchase this box at
No uk apps?
I don’t know. What have you tried that doesn't work?
Just ordered one.
Great! Let us know what you think about it after you've had the chance to set it up. 😉
How do you put the downloader app in this box?
It's available Free in the Google Play store. Just Search for it.
It sucks, have nothing but problems with volume not working
Did I miss the audio support?
Hey Ricky, No, you didn't miss it because it isn't there, sorry. I only have a SoundBar which works perfectly via Bluetooth and Digital Out from the TV, which is what I normally use. I do not have a Receiver in order to test the Audio Passthrough. I should get one soon so I can test things like this. If you get one of these and it works, or doesn't please come back and let us know.
Nearly all of these have backdoors & Malicious software loaded
Will wolf launcher work on this box?
Yes! But the home button may be problematic with Launcher manager. You may need to use Button Remapper and use one of the App buttons you don't need to open the Launcher.
So it can be installed kodi?
Yes, absolutely!
No malware?
Nope 👍
I bought the box works on all apps but will not play Hulu
Hmm, I don't have Hulu to test. But since it's a paid subscription, can you ask them for support?
I called them and was told they do not support this tv box
Wish it did because all you said is true everything is great except for Hulu
You have a great TH-cam channel
@ronwaz2696 Wow, now that surprises me. I'm going to have to get Hulu and try this out. If it doesn'twork , I'll let them now and get it addressed. 😏
What's the point of making a shield killer video if you're not going to show any gaming?
Has anyone had any problems with TH-camTV on this box? Not TH-cam but TH-camTV. Thanks
I haven't tried TH-cam TV on this, as I don't have a current sub to it. What sort of problem are you having?
@@CordCuttersLI I haven't tried this box, but the last 2 boxes (a while ago) that I had, did not work well with TH-cam TV. I haven't purchased another box since. Hoping someone who has this box has TH-camTV as well and can comment
@@shootproperty12 I don't mind getting a TH-cam TV subscription and testing it out for you. What specific problems were you having with it?
...and if you don't mind my asking, which streaming device do you currently use with TH-cam TV that does work best for you?
@@CordCuttersLI To be honest I don’t remember exactly what it was. SMH. I want to say that navigating the app was difficult as well as I believe it was in a low format 720. That’s all I can remember. It was a while ago
I’ll stick with my shield. I know it’s a lot of price difference, but with the Plex server option, I’m still in love with Nvidia.
Of course, if you have a shield, you wouldn't buy this, but for folks who can't afford it, this CAN be their nVidia Shield.
No gigabit ethernet, no sale.
nVidia Shield FTW, right?
No gigabit ethernet = PASS No USB 3.0 = BIGGER PASS. There are better boxes at this price level.
What are they?
Hmm, that's debatable. Which sub-$100 box has 1Gb/s Ethernet AND USB 3.0?
and, other than taking more time to copy stuff from a computer, why is either of those things a deal breaker?
Did you see the part in the video where I quickly fast forward/rewind back and forth MANY times while streaming a 4K video without skipping a beat? No buffereing, no lagging, no stuttering. Worked Perfectly.
Firestick is same spec
Some ppl can never say "great, nice find"
@@ibzman1393and fire stick is trying to stop third party apps.
This can’t run Plex server so it doesn’t even come close to killing shield pro
What percentage of nVidia Shield owners use it for PLEX Server? 5%, maybe? 🤔

Welcome
Firestick is good enough.
For many, you are probably right. What type of streaming do you like best on your Firestick?
@@CordCuttersLI I have an IPTV on it plus Netflix, Disney and Prime.
From Subscriber IS this box GOOGLE CERTIFIED as my present MECOOL 5 YRS OLD YULIA 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
Has java core malware as do most china android boxes... a HUGE no no for me
Is that just based on what Linus Tech Tips generalized on his TH-cam video about such boxes, or did you actually find it on this particular G1 box? I was thinking of getting this G1 box, but if you can prove that it has malware on it, then I won't buy it... thanks...
Why do TV boxes still have usb 2's geeeesh they need to install a minimum of 2 usb 3's stop putting usb 2's on boxes ....so out dated
USB3 would definitely be a welcome improvement. 👍
The Nokia Box 8010 is much better and have Wifi-6.
Thanks for sharing. It's not available here, so I can't check it out.
Are you getting paid to promote? No offence just checking
Nope. I just like the box. No offense taken 👍
another cheap china box. .pick it up for less than 35 dollar if you know where to look..it does the job,..defo not a shield killer ...your reckoning is if its cheaper than shield its a shield killer...also if you test the specs on this box...they are not all they say they are...like i say will do the job...but dont go paying more than 50 dollar for it
Can we agree to disagree? 🤷♂️
100 gigabit ethernet and this is a shield killer ? lol
It has some things that the nVidia Shield doesn't have as well. What's important to one person isn't as much for someone else and vice versa; wouldn't you agree? .
Have you a video how to set up the G1 please great video.
Setting this up is so easy, I don't feel a video is necessary. That said, if you have any issues whatsoever, please send me an email with your specific questions and I'll be happy to help.

hi am getting sound from the system telling me what apps am opening and introducing every thing apps setting the apps exct on that box how to turn that system souund off

Sounds like you have some "accessibility" options selected. Take a look in the settings.
Would be cool if you could do a 1440p shield vs KinHank video.
thank you im sticking with my firecube 3rd generation!!!
When Amazon takes away sideloading then what ? They're making plans to leave the Android platform.
If you turn care about sideloading, then I hope all goes well
Instantly see, not as good as NV Shield pro, this only has 100Mb LAN, Shield has 1000Mb LAN, sorry, Keeping my shields
Some people who can't hardwire the box would argue that Wifi-6, which the nVidia Shield does NOT have supports up to 3x the speed and throughout the Wifi-5 the Shield has. For those people, they might like this box. To each his (or her) own, right? 👍👍
The new google tv box will replace this box as the best 4gb 32gb box for the money
May be. Can't wait to find out!
