Button remapper has no problem whatsoever remapping your Netflix button. You are probably doing it incorrectly somehow. Have you made sure the accessibility option for button mapper app is turned on under your Preferences? I actually currently use the Netflix button on my shield remote to launch three separate applications. Normal click launches smart tube app, a quick double tap of the Netflix key launches Disney/Hulu app (because now that they have Hulu as well I can watch Hulu and Disney content in a single Disney app.), And if I long press the Netflix button it will open HBO Max app. For everything else I press the assistant mic button and say the name of the app. Button mapper app works perfectly fine to remap the Netflix key to anything. I like it, I can watch IPTV channels, any movie I want with Kodi, or I can stream directly from my PC to my Shield with Steam Link to play games, and it runs fast too.
got mine in 2019, and it's still the best in my opinion as for the new remote I don't like it the NETFLIX button is annoying, and find it sluggish and unresponsive at times. I've done all the updates to the old remote and it's still chugging along like a dream, not had a system upgrade in a while but I'm sure Nvidia SHIELD will provide one all in all it is a killer of an Android box....! thanks for the review and sharing your experience with the shield enjoyed the video....! 😜
Not only is it better at processing video which is what Nvidia was all about when the company was developed they're all about gaming but the processor in this shield device blows away my brand new 100" TVs upscaling processor adds an even extra layer of processing so not only am I getting a 4K video out of this but it's doing it with a 1080 signal and then upgrading it to a 4K and I have to tell you the picture is very much noticeably better it blows me away how much better it is not only that but I'm getting Dolby digital sound on all of my channels because it has built-in Dolby digital DTS and HDR 10 and Dolby vision it does an amazing job your TV doesn't always run in those settings when watching regular programming so I am absolutely impressed with this thing I will keep it forever in fact I'm going to buy a second one just to have it in case 5 or 10 years down the road something happened to this one I'll have another one. On top of that Nvidia's operating system run by Google TV is unreal it blows away the original Google TV device that I had plugged in before The main screen menu is way better you get so much more information from every app you downloaded and the live TV where it tells you what's playing on what program and it can go right to that you don't even have to open up the app to go to it and do it right from the main screen if you have never tried one you got to try one get it at Best Buy if you don't like it take it back but I'm telling you once you try it you will never want to get rid of it.
Bought a 2019 pro and After putting a lot of media on it for a plex server on a 4tb ssd usb drive, the 16 gig of internal storage was VERY quickly filled up with preview videos. After this, i sold the 2019 one then Purposely sought out the 2015 pro version second hand, upscaling be damned! Found one and changed out the mechanical 0.5tb hard drive for that 4tb SSD. Also put a 0.5tb micro sd card in it and now have a brilliant NAS, plex server, and streaming box all in one. Taking away the storage feels like a downgrade. Also the older thinner remote allows wireless audio transmission to a headphone jack. Which lets me enjoy content within my thin walls late at night without angering housemates or neighbors. Won't be getting shot of my 2015er for quite some time!
Nice piece of hardware with comprehensive functionalities, but even after 10 years it’s still not stable. Every 2 or 3 days I have to restart it because it freezes or crashes. It's also not very fast. I can't recommend it.
I've not seen a firmware update on my Shield Pro in at least two bloody years. Curious that my build is exactly the same as yours and that is NOT a new bloody firmware. What in the hell are you talking about young lad?
This is extremely easy to achieve. At least when it comes to your own content. Perhaps not for a content on Netflix etc but frame rate matching can happen automatically with Plex and other very good media players I highly recommend like Nova video player. Most of what I watch is under Nova Video Player these days and it does have frame rate switching to match the content being played. Most of the time this is a non-issue once you use the correct apps that do allow this feature.
I use it daily for my media library for 4k viewing mostly using my external lacie works so fine and kodi it's the perfect android device . The day when Sony tvs become powerful enough I'll ditch this shield but until then this stays fine by me ❤
NVIDIA abandoned users with updates, very bad of NVIDIA to pay $200 where for $50 Chromecast still gets updates. I'm waiting for a new Chromecast and I'm selling a shield. NVIDIA thinks users are idiots...
The best media center box..period. The 2015 works still almost as good as a 2019 version...and pretty much better than any other media center. My only complaint with the device, 16gb is just way too small of a storage drive. Apple TV 4k lowest model has 64gb. Come on Nvidia, give us more storage.
Simple fix for that. Just buy an ssd (I use Samsung T7 500 GB) and sync it to be used as device storage. I did this on all of my Shields and have way more storage capability than i will ever need on any one device. It is simple to do and takes about 2-3 minutes to accomplish.
I got one 9 years ago when i was still living with my parents (the 2015 model), i got it cuz i was like ooooooo I get to play android games and emulators on my TV. And I used it for literally everything EXCEPT that 😂 but media streaming and 4K cloud gaming make even the old 2015 model quite viable even today.
I agree, I love my shield. And I also must agree with the annoying fact of the Netflix button. If any update to this product... I would really hope that they would allow you to customize that button. If not, at least remove it. I've also used that remapping app and even though it says it remapped it, it doesn't! No matter what happens, if you're watching TV or whatever and you happen to hit that button it immediately goes to Netflix!!! 😡🤬🤬🤬
Damien please go and see an ophthalmologist. I told my girlfriend repeatedly if she can't tell the difference between 4K and FHD from a normal seating distance she needs glasses. She strongly insisted I'm wrong until she had to go there for something else and you can probably already guess what he prescribed her. Also helps if you get slight headaches from time to time as that's often from the brain constantly trying to focus the image and failing.
Why is this guy only comparing the Shield to the Chromecast??? There is Firestick, Mi Box, and most importantly the Onn Box. The shield has aged poorly. It is laggy, very unresponsive at times, the remote freezes up, there are WiFi connectivity issues up the ass. It doesn't support VP9 codec for HDR videos on TH-cam, a BASIC FEATURE. It also has sound issues with high-end soundbars.
It's really not. It has a lot of issues for streaming and gaming. Let me start. Disney plus just doesnt work. Playing a video would just crash. The bluetooth is terrible. It's range is so low that it will lag. But if someone knows a bluetooth adapter that will work, please let me know
Is this surprising though? The Nvidia Shield TV costs significantly more than other Android TV devices including the Chromecast with Google TV. Most people wouldn't spend the amount to buy this.

I'm struggling with a Chromecast 4k and it has become painfully slow. All my seaches tell the the Shield pro is the best option. With it being 5 years old now, how much longer will it be supported? Everyone still says its the one to get, but if it's only going to get 1-2 more years of use....?
Dont wait longer! Launched in 15, a new model in 17 & the latest was released in 2019. I ran through & wasted a lot on cheap boxes & finally got the 17 in 2018 only to see the new one with Atmos launch a few months later in 2019🤦🏻♂ Did not not need it as I did not have an ATMOS sound system, so upgraded only when I got the system. Dont think, just buy it. If you use the what if next year, you will be waiting like me from 2015 to 2018 ✌🏻
Go to dev options and turn the animations scaler to .5. This will make it really snappy. 😊
How much of this applies to the stick version?
I love mine, but oddly enough Disney Plus 4k only stutters on the 2019 Nvidia Shield.
Disney plusnstutters on everything
I do bunch of iptv streaming and i find the Nvidia shield pro to still be the best, it just plays everything perfectly with no problems
Didn't the UI get filled with advertisements?
Yea, with surveying a few bucks on non stock launchers.
I have the 2015 & 2019 models. Two feature my Apple TV has over the Shield is auto framerate switching with streaming services and TH-cam HDR playback.
Did the 2019 pro get auto frame rate refresh?
@@SparklingLavaJellyfish Auto frame rate only works with Android 12 or later. The shield is still on android 11. Currently AFR only works with Netflix and BBC iplayer.
Does it have the latest Google/Android TV UI that has the circular app icons for your installed apps?
@@DaddioSidno Thats a very old UI my dude.
Do you recommend low, medium, or high AI upscaling? I can't decide. I watch on a 65in LG CX from about 8 feet away.
@@robspence3287 there literally is a comparison mode available for you to make that decision for yourself.
Is this the best option for GeForce now?
Have not used mine for a bit but now it seems Kina blurry for some reason.
How is this? compared to a xbox series s. That also have some of the same features. When we talk about cloud stream? in terms of games. This has native cloud gaming app support that the series s dont have due to the series s mostly supports browser based cloud gaming. While being some couple of years old. How is this for upcoming couple of years. Since the cloud does most of the job. As long one got access to stable internet
I bought this 6 months ago and have not looked back. The only drawback for me initially was the daing Netflix button that kept waking Netflix up, but the button mapper app solved that.
We're not getting a new TV shield until Nintendo releases the switch. 2. That's why it's enjoyed such a long lifespan
Apakah saya bisa menginstall .apk dari flashdisk saya ke nvidia shield tv ini?
does it play 10bit x265 video files?
It surprises me when I try to install some game apps like emulators and some previous generation games. But I need to admit, we need more powerful hardware which has the capability of run demanding games and emulators. Also we need the support for many apps compatibility due the app store for shield tv is completely forgotten
@@arturot.5024 it uses the Google Play Store...
I guess the question is when is the next gen Nvidia Shield even due out?
I don’t think there will one unfortunately
It still works flawlessly so why get a new one 😊
@@thomassetzer if that breaks would you buy another one as mine just broke
@@johnsnow7836now in that case I understand as with electronics devices go bad
@@thomassetzer yeah true I’m contemplating is it worth buying a new one , only thing stopping me is the price it’s not changed since I bought it back 2020 , it’s more than paid for itself hundreds of times over , just using cube and it’s like driving a Ferrari than getting on a bike lol
I've had my Shield for a few years now and it's still the best. My Polaroid smart TV stopped showing the picture, so I had to use my Sheild and LG dumb tv as a replacement. It still works way faster than the TCL 4k smart tv in my bedroom, good though that tv is😄
No new shields, is there one in the pipeline?
What does this device do???
It is so good, just wish it had an optical output for full 5.1. I have a usb to optical adaptor, but still cant quite get the proper 5.1 sound to my system.
Also, i wish thr youtube app had 2x speed, for some reason it lacks this feature.
Other than that, it is freeking sweet.
Why don't you just connect the TV to the optical audio?
@@nicbongomy projector doesnt have optical
I got one practically for free before realizing its potential. Pretty stoked
Totally solid device - recommended to all my family. Yeah its oricey compared to other competitors but you can buy a used model at a pretty good price.
I like it, I can watch IPTV channels, any movie I want with Kodi, or I can stream directly from my PC to my Shield with Steam Link to play games, and it runs fast too.
I still use my 2015 shield as my main device (or whatever year it was)
my shield sometimes fries the receiving ends hdmi port .
Dang only under 100 is recommended? I was eyeing one for 160 :(
I wonder why nvidia isn't upgrading their tv box. A great spec bump would easily beat all other tv boxes.
got mine in 2019, and it's still the best in my opinion as for the new remote I don't like it the NETFLIX button is annoying, and find it sluggish and unresponsive at times. I've done all the updates to the old remote and it's still chugging along like a dream, not had a system upgrade in a while but I'm sure Nvidia SHIELD will provide one all in all it is a killer of an Android box....! thanks for the review and sharing your experience with the shield enjoyed the video....! 😜
How does this compare to Fire stick? Can someone please clue me in? Thanks.
I upgraded from the fire TV cube it's way better
On top of that Nvidia's operating system run by Google TV is unreal it blows away the original Google TV device that I had plugged in before The main screen menu is way better you get so much more information from every app you downloaded and the live TV where it tells you what's playing on what program and it can go right to that you don't even have to open up the app to go to it and do it right from the main screen if you have never tried one you got to try one get it at Best Buy if you don't like it take it back but I'm telling you once you try it you will never want to get rid of it.
shield tv even has all those games stuck on it, it would be crazy if someone ported those games to regular android
I just really hope they will release a new version.
Will wait for the next version tho
How long
Nice piece of hardware with comprehensive functionalities, but even after 10 years it’s still not stable. Every 2 or 3 days I have to restart it because it freezes or crashes. It's also not very fast. I can't recommend it.
Just bought it for my gaming monitor. I don’t have a tv in my room so I needed a way to turn it into a tv
I've not seen a firmware update on my Shield Pro in at least two bloody years. Curious that my build is exactly the same as yours and that is NOT a new bloody firmware. What in the hell are you talking about young lad?
The lack of native frame rate matching is unforgivable. The Shield is obsolete & way overpriced
The day when Sony tvs become powerful enough I'll ditch this shield but until then this stays fine by me ❤
Codecs is why its still the king to me.
Why dont they make a new even better and heavier hitting Nvidia tv shield?
It will eventually show it's age, specially since nvidea won't be bring out a new model. 2019 model is all you'll get until it becomes obsolete
its crazy nvdia hasant upgraded since 2019
There haven't been any new updates since 2022 and still at Android 11.
Still the best 4k upscaler on the market. Still the only AI upscaler.
why no Netflix?
can minecraft pe run on this
NVIDIA abandoned users with updates, very bad of NVIDIA to pay $200 where for $50 Chromecast still gets updates. I'm waiting for a new Chromecast and I'm selling a shield. NVIDIA thinks users are idiots...
I agree had I known I’d of never ordered one , luckily when I dove into it found out and sent it back
I own Nvida Pro 2019 and will replace it with the new Google TV Streamer because of the updated Android 14 version.
Tell me more im @@SilichipX
Shield and the switch are goats 😂
Shield TV 2 should be launched
I just dug out my 2 of them, was thinking about trying to add them to a docker cluster.
What about sports
The updates have not rolled out for ages.
I enjoy mine, and agree with everything except Tim Sherwood.

Also helps if you get slight headaches from time to time as that's often from the brain constantly trying to focus the image and failing.
man watched inter win serie A
Why is this guy only comparing the Shield to the Chromecast???
I still think Apple TV outputs a better picture and smoother UI, albeit it doesn’t allow the freedom of Android.
U have to try that ai upscaling but u have to have a decent tv to see the deference.
Another video is telling that the version 9.1.1 is from end of year 2022.
Yeah but they haven't had a software update in a long time.
