The 2019 remote has some cool features. It feels good quality and is backlit - but that’s where the pros end. The actual layout of the remote is the most unintuitive i have ever used. Why can’t pause be in the middle with rewind and fast forward on both sides like a normal remote? As well as the fat netflix button which is so easy to press by accident when picking up the remote. On top of that, due to its weird triangular design you can’t lay it flat on a table or arm rest and press the buttons without picking it up. I ended up getting a third party remote because quality doesn’t matter if i have to look at the remote to know where the buttons are. It should be intuitive. It doesn't. BUT if you know how, pull/backup the firestick xfiniity app and install it on the Shield. It will work, but it won't show up on the home screen/launcher. You'll have to launch it from Settings->Apps. Afterward, it will appear in your recently used apps if you doubleclick the home button.
In addition, it will behave slightly differently. For example, the long overdue live guide doesn't work on the shield, only on the firestick. You'll have to back out of whatever you're watching to access the guide.
I'm on the fence. I'm a truck driver I have a large Plex library at home served up from my NAS. So I can watch all my favorite movies on the road. The native Plex app on my trucks LG TV doesn't have enough horsepower to stream Plex. I use the Plex Windows PC app intel i9 1200h. And it streams high-resolution high bitrate files without breaking a sweat. Streams it like I'm watching Netflix. I'm on the fence because I want more of a streaming app experience using the native remote. Not a mouse and keyboard. @@TH-camMusicPortal Honestly it's been such a struggle! I'm quite schooled in the tech industry, but trying to find the actual name of the connector has me stumped! the closest I got was "USB 2.0, Type B, Mini-B" But when i put that in search engines it threw those squashed display port looking chargers at me lol Like what go in the back of BlueYeti SnowBall microphones. It's such a farse lol, I just want a name of the connector like "USB type so'n'so" lol
Wondering if i should wait for google streamer or just pull trigger on shield tv pro
Honestly, I'd wait a minute and see how the streamer holds up and go from there. The shield if pretty expensive, so if there's anything better value out there, I'd buy that.
I've been trying to do some research. Can someone please help me understand whether or not the Nvidia pro has the Xfinity stream app?😊
@03:55 The Tegra is the gpu chip. The processor is an Arm A7 one.
The Tegra chip is a quad core and the gpu is based on the maxwell line of gpus
why are the apps other than stremio and smart tube blurred?
I'm on my third nivida sheild awesome product, remember every one might have a different opinion.
It only plays 16-bit audio. I just got one, and this is the biggest disappointment.
But if you are talking about the non-pro version, then there would be different hardware design changes.
I have the most convenient Bluetooth keyboard iclever fold up mouse keyboard combo. I still would rather have a remote so I may be getting one of these. or maybe not for 200 bucks being 10 years old. I don't know man
Which the recent apps function is not even a thing on even the device from the original company that made the Android TV OS.
I have two current sheild
As a fellow Irish plex lover, consider me subscribed!
4:42 Not AV1 tho,. right?
Awesome video, thank you!
Way better than fire stick
I don't want to buy it full retail price... And i'm not sure about the longevity it's almost a decade.
Got i TV with Google TV and streaming 4K 60Gb works... But on wifi because Ethernet is only 100Mbits (USB 2.0 to Ethernet on the motherboard of the TV... 😢)
But no rooting ans I had to debloat it (debloat Google crap) , change the launcher... I contact the manufacturer to been able to root it and maybe install a custom kernel to get the last drop of performance/function that I can.
Better off with a steamdeck for little more
This is better then the new Google chromecast
I love the 2017 remote! Definitely better than the 2019 remote.
The worst opinion I've ever heard. But you're entitled to it 🤣🤣
Delete this comment big dawg 😂
I'll purchase a Navidia shield if they get better hardware.
My first Irish TH-camr, subscribed
That guy is as German as they come 😆😆🤣🤣
@@ThatDudeDeven holy moly where did he pick up the accent from
I still use it, but 3GB isn't enough.
Yea, in 2024, I think more would be a nice bonus, especially at the price these sell for.
the new remote is worth it...
Shield and Nintendo switch have things in common 😂
£189 is cheap when you use it every day for years.
Those china android box are just garbage. NVIDIA SHIELD TV PRO is the king in the streaming device 2024. Works for Plex, Kodi, Nova Video player. It's easy to add external storage up to 2TB
I bought apple tv 2022
Simply the best!
"It looks tacky"
*Has LED lights everywhere on everything* lol
Jokes aside, the 2017 remote is easily the worst thing anyone ever designed. I have no idea how it made it to production

Another useless video by some who loves the sound of their own voice!
Thank you brody 🙏🙏
BUT I'LL BET YOU'RE BE BACK TO LISTEN TO HIS VOICE
I just want to leave a comment so you can remember how dumb you sounded when you wrote it. I'm glad you gave him views 😂
still waiting for the successor of the shield 2019 since 2021. 🫠
