Thanks for the inspiration, Was kinda sick of paying 12-15$ a doz for minnows up here in Canada. Built a half mesh and half mesh cloth trap and used an older 2 bucket style. The dog food is a good idea, i"m going to get some from my buddy. fingers crossed I get as many as you did!

@@reservationoutdoors My son is 13 and walleye, bass, northern are what we target. I’m not the best guide and I’ll maybe put him on good fishing once a season lol. We’ve been out a handful of times also fishing trout but have had limited success
@@dankrogstad6238 hey it’s all about the experience! I never cared if we limited out our even caught fish, I was just so happy to be out there! That’s a great age! Fun years. At 12, we can hunt in Mn, or buy a tag. My dad brought us into the deer stand earlier then that, but that was the age we got to take our firearm safety course in school. so it was like hitting the lottery for me!!😁 . We have 22 small lakes, and the Red Lake River we can fish. We will find some fish and have a blast! I can’t wait!

Im wouldn’t call myself a commercial bait dealer but have learned how and am “testing the waters” I’ve trapped a few years for minnows now and it’s peaceful and relaxing. Depending on the type of minnow trapping your doing😁. I have a big drop net that’s quite large and fun in the wind lol. The size grader in the mino saver is a 18.

We do a lot of outdoor activities, and decided to record so the locals and whoever wanted to tag along could see what we see, and experience what we experience. We’re commercial fishermen/women ( Hook and Line ) for the Red Lake Nation Fisheries and will be recording out on the big lake catching Walleye. Our limit is 150 walleye per member per day. We don’t get limits every day all year, but the right time of year and we can have consecutive days with my wife’s and my limits. 300 walleye
@@HardCoreCanuck the mino saver has removable graders, so you can put different sizes in the float box. I love it. If I want crappie minnows I just transport all the minnows home, and grade them in my crappie minnow tank, and dump the big ones in my “graded minnow” tank. Good luck and safe trapping brother!
Both 1 & 2 are great vids, thanks for taking the time to make em! Is it correct that minnows for commercial sale aren't fed because of how much more waste they will put off when fed? How long can they be kept without feeding?
Thanks for watching! And yea I guess that makes sense. Minnows will last quite a while without “being fed” but I always put a little food in there for them. Don’t need the minnows starving or turning cannibal on each other lol

I’m still tossing mine on the lake edge. Slowed down a lot but I’m still getting a few gallons a day. so I’ll probably move them to some outer weed lines or Lilly pads. You can put them out in 6-10 ft too, just need a longer string with your float.

You can buy em at any outdoors stores or sections. If your looking for commercial size traps you can look em up on google. There’s box traps, clover traps, tube traps. Just type in minnow traps and click shopping

Boys loving it ! I put milk bone in pool it swelled up and held together
Yea the milk bones help up for a long time! A lot longer than the dog food. Maybe it’s the size of the bones, taking longer to dissolve or break up.
Milk bone was in pool 24 hrs
