So close now - just finishing up the remaining bodywork after deep cleaning my messy shop and shared what the new rear fenders from Class 8 class8mfg.com/ will look like. Also tried out new power window regulators I bought off Amazon to see if they’ll work. Then my daughter came out to help sand the Bandit One TransAM alongside me sanding the Pete and finally took #ProjectPorkChop for a hoot down the road - enjoy!

If you can turn the Pete sideways across the 2 bays, you can rig up your temporary booth as a side draft. I've painted vac trucks and other oilfield equipment in everything from quonsets to paintbooths, even outside under a lean-to and gotten great results, it's not always about the booth. Having a swat team of people to prep helps. I always set up my ladders and scaffolding so I'd never risk touching the truck or having to waste time moving the hood to access the cab etc.
You can use odoban it will help take the smell out
Good on Ole Lil Sticks for helping the Ole man out with Burt back there!🎉
I don't get bored watching any of the trucks. I like all of it😊
Keep up the great work Mark. I look forward to watching the episode every Thursday as soon as I park up
brother you're a legend luv the old school Cheers Steve from Australia every episode is great
Just keep doing what you do Mark, we love the channel👌🏻👍🏻
I've always said this...thank you Mark and the whole twinsticks garage family ❤🇨🇦💙🇺🇸✝️....when everyone wants to help out,and get involved, it becomes more than just a project..it becomes beautiful forever lasting memories...and to me that is better than money in the bank..much love from the states❤
THANKS MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was teaching welding I had to take a very rare day off. Upon my return I couldn’t help but find the “sitting nude girl” cutouts on all the 1/4” sheet steel. Every kid in the class must have had a few.
In the last week or so I've gone through every video in this series, I have a 95 379 I'm going to start rebuilding this winter, and there has been a BUNCH of helpful info and details, thank ya sir!!
Hey Mark, Just a suggestion, what about taking the hood off and setting it on the floor of your shop and paint it. I know it's extra work, but it might make it easier to paint in the long run.
Problem with sitting it on the floor. Is all the dust that would get blown up while painting. No matter how much you clean there's always a light coat of dust on the floor
That's what I'm thinking. Other option is to paint the bunk n cab....then seal the cab with light plastic and paint the hood...then you don't have to worry about over spray.
Instead of on the floor, suspend the hood from the gantry somehow to be able to get to all sides, just a thought…
Good morning ? Haha nice to see friends gathered around marks garage for another episode! Keep em coming mark. Awesome job as usual!
I always enjoy what you're doing mark all your projects number one
I shut my shop down 2 weeks ago for deep cleaning and I am still going and probably have another week of cleaning. I can't believe all the good stuff I have been finding.
When sanding a car you have to be real careful not to destroy the style lines in the metal, it is really easy to round of and distort lines. That isn't a problem on an old Peterbilt. I would never let an inexperienced person loose to sand a car. When training workers I make them cover any style lines with masking tape first and once all the big flatter areas are sanded I go back with them to finish it. On the F Body cars the style lines on the middle of the doors and the lines around the fender lip easily become distorted and rounded. The door handle pockets are another area. I have rebuilt and restored probably 50 second gen F Bodh cars in the last 20 years.
Nothing like some father/daughter time !!! Enjoy !!!
Would you consider removing the hood and doors and paint them off the truck before painting the cab. Then you could put them in Snowman’s bay while you paint the cab and bunk. That way you can paint the jambs all at one time.
Jams don’t get painted, bulkhead doors stay aluminum finish.
Door jams are aluminum and should be kept unpainted.
I love the channel. I enjoy the old trucks 🚛. Tinted windows to match the paint would be cool. Father/daughter time is awesome. And always cool is the CB antenna's.
A really good quality takes the time, Mark! You don't need to rush. I think it's much easier to build a new truck than rebuild an old beauty. You are doing it good...brilliant! Stay safe and take care! 🍀
Sir, I've been watching awhile now... it's fun, relaxing and I very much enjoy your videos. No worries I'm not going anywhere 😊- Gary
Thanks. I'm enjoying your vids
A lot of projects and content for the future Mark!
Just take your time to make all the trucks perfect m8!
We all love to watch you do it!
Always nice to have some help in the Shop. My Wife is about the same way as your Kid, doesn't wanna be on camera, so when she steps into the shop you usually just see her legs and hear her voice, but the extra set of hands when you only have two help a lot!
Amazingly I think a 72 Beetle and a Pete have something in common, lots of small spaces to hide paint! Good luck and can't wait to see the finished products!
Mark iv been watching since the first episode of lbl cannot wait to see lbl painted and done with all the chrome back on that ol girl keep up the amazing work and videos much love can't wait to see lbl done
Hi Mark & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Mark & Friends Randy
Better to take your time and do it right the first time.Keep up the great videos 😊
Hellow buddy good luck with all the products
You are getting closer every time looking lbl looking good buddy keep on keeping on
Yeah I think a Convoy Mack would be cool to see, I think it might be hard to find one to do though! I hope one day you can do the Dukes Charger. Loved all the shows you did, well the ones that were shown here in the UK in the 80’s. Keep up the great work. 👍
Thanks for the quality content. I've been watching since you pulled LBL out of the field, and I know I'm excited for the final product, but I appreciate the updates and even the "mundaine" body work videos. It's all part of the process. I appreciate you sharing your hobby with us for free. That is going to be a REAL sharp looking truck when you are finished with it.
You need under glow lights on LBL don't matter how long it takes you to get your project done love what you're doing keep up the great work you doing it right old new trucks high five 👋 to your daughter for helping you now everytime I see 👀 the trans am I will know your daughter is top notch that's priceless you 2 working on your project thank you for your time and effort to get us what it takes for your love of trucks
That was great to have Rees help ya on Ban 1 and as far as the smell in Pork Chop, they have sent bombs that ya could probably use in the cab. We got this one we use at work called One Shot After Fire Oder Control. It works amazing.
I always figured that something that covers up a smell isn’t getting rid of what’s making the smell, I can understand if it’s smoke but not rats piss 😂
Thank you Mark love watching your videos I enjoy watching your videos can show me your little by little hood mascot thank you watching from South Africa
Yeah put those hub caps on the Pete!
A suggestion Mark before you paint I’d mount the window regulator incase you need to do some welding.
Mark; “in this episode I going to TRY and get this truck rea… SQUIRREL!!!” 🏃♂️🏃♂️
Having your daughter in the shop reminds me of my son working in the shop with me. One project he wanted to do required welding so i showed him a few things about it and he ended up welding like a pro. I paid him(college money) to do my welding thereafter...LOL
I have too many projects on the go,cars and bikes ( and a boat😂) and three daughters, none of whom have ever shown any interest in them until recently when the oldest got her licence and then realised that my " old jalopies" are actually cool, its a shame that shes going nowhere near them, Ive had some of them since before she was born!😂 I'd be proud to have seen one of them in my workshop along side me, you are a lucky guy Mark.👍FWIW, I have five sisters and none of them ever wanted to play either.
Brother just go at your own pace, love all the videos been watching from the start. Mark from the UK
A trick I learned trucking the USA, to get smells out of a reefer we would dump a can of fresh coffee grounds in trailer.. worked well. Maybe you could dump a can in the pork chop express, help with the smell. One Ole trucker to another. Peace ✌️
Great ……another sanding video .
My thought would be use your gantry lift and take the bunk off the truck and put it on the floor and paint it there . Then turn little by little around and noise it in the shop to paint it
I know you love Waylon , I just went to a Whey Jennings concert, oh man you need to check it out
You could get pork chop wrapped temporarily and just drive it and enjoy it. Clean it out so it doesn’t smell and just drive it as your beater until the full rebuild!!!
Take snowman and reenact the opening of Smokey and Bandit
Some kindly suggestions!!! Buy a extra gallon of the blue paint and mix all together before thinning and any additives and refill the can for touch ups and make sure you get a extra copy of the paint formula"recipe" to keep safe!! And buy extra high build primer when you think you have it perfect spray and block again for EXTRA RAZOR STRAIGHT PANELS!! GOD BLESS IN JESUS NAME❤😊😊😊😊
Put the truck on dollies and turn it sideways. I love the Freightliner! Especially that split windshield!! New daily driver. Fuel mileage isn't much worse than my Sierra 8.1L.
Hu Mark, Ref painting the Hood on the truck... I'd tilt the hood back down leaving it propped up enough so that you can then brace across the engine to paint the roof cap on the cab.. Then using a temp wooden walk way round the hood, paint the hood at the propped angle using the walk way to get round the hood .. also build a wooden walk way round the Bunk to allow the painting of the bunk cap ... you could use the gantry legs to help in the walk way build.for the bunk.... that way the walk way is built prior to the start of painting .... inside the paint tent :) :) ... If you are using 2 pack ( Base on Clear ) you will have to crank up the shop temp for the Clear coat, or it's prone to running if the temp is to Low .. Keep up the good work .. Slow and staedy wins the race .. Andy UK ..
They make a power window switch that uses the stock window cranks. To keep the stock appearance.
I hope you're swapping that transmission to the correct one for the Porkshop Express :D
That's the fenders I had on my w900l
Put the truck in length ways and use the 4 post lift to stand on. That can lift you up to the hight you need.
I threw a couple Bounce sheets ( stolen from the wifey) in my ride and it was amazing in getting rid of the hockey bag smell.
The Roof Cap will turn out as your best work, Mark... (wink wink). You know, Bodywork and Children have a lot in common - the more time you spend on them before Grad, er - completion, the better they shine on down the Road... Respect, 'Dad'.
I suppose you would want to scrub out the interior of the freightliner leave the doors open and vents for couple of days to get most of the smell out. Been watching you a long time and enjoy your attitude of perfection hence the freightliner
While the weather is still OK, for the sake of either parking Snowman outside for a couple of days or putting it in that house garage I would use the gantry to lift the bunk box on to Snowman's floor and finish it there and yes jack LBL back to the bench and you will have a lot of space around that cab and bonnet (hood). You need space to paint.
Auto windows are nice. I was lucky my 3 axle I drove had an electric motor on the passenger window. Was great because no mirror heat and with a stick and rag can wipe the passenger mirror will driving down the highway. 😮
LBL was my favorite truck until you got the porkchop express and now I can't wait for you to be able to get started on it
Your window regulators go on opposite the driver's side one goes on the passenger door and they bolt to the inner door except for the very bottom, where the motor's at bolts to that little bracket on the door. Just got done putting some on my 89 379
before you go adjusting the door check the hinges aren't just worn out. it maybe just new hinge pins or a whole new assembly. no point chasing your tail trying to adjust something worn out
It would be fun to put a Piggly wiggly trailer on pork chop Express
Hey Mark...is there like a votec or a body shop class in your local school...pork chop would be a awesome project for a bunch of high school kids to,learn and oh yeah ..help ya out with..i know you like to do everything yourself but,why not....
Door sag is really common on 2nd gens with how heavy the door is, it probably be smarter to replace the pins then adjudt for the wear. Just my two cents tho
Mark just use some white vinegar in 2 small bowls with a small piece of sponge so it won,t spill, and put it inside your pork chop express truck and it will have that smell gone , in a week, or so with the window,s up, it really works, i used to use red wine vinegar but i does not matter, try it,
Have Tim Gentry help you with what to need with the painting department. He's pretty smart when it comes to things like that.
You need to get a ford cabover like they used in whiteline fever
If you have metallic in the paint edge it all out and put the bunk back in place hood down so you can avoid tiger striping
The recommendation i would have for you is to start high and work down on the paint process. Easier to "hide" anything higher up that you don't like. As far as the hood goes, big places paint them on roller carts away from the frame. With it on the truck, you add a new level of fun. I think you're on the right track with backing LBL all the way to the bench but caging may not be the answer. If you're real gentle you and a couple spotters should be able to roll it back under it's own power without damage and set the brakes so it stays where you put it. Just a thought.....
If it were me, I’d paint the tractor first and the bunk later. Concentrate on the biggest, more complicated part. The bunk is a simple box.
Coming here is not just to watch but to get a boost of energy and inspiration. You're the best!🖕🖕 ^ 🛸.
Hey Mark that window regulator bolts to the inner door skin on my 379
Remove The Hood And Paint It In The Snowman Bay!
Remove hood and place it on wood blocks at about a 45° angle. That way you can get the top of hood and sides “easily”
How about getting a Mack truck and do it up like the one in the movie convoy.
Hey brother so glad you are working on little by little keep up the good work can't wait to see it done and maybe you need a rubber duck is there any way you could show a picture of were the hood springs mount on the coor support I'm fixing up an old Kenworth and the springs are gone I would appreciate it
You might want to put your regulators in before you paint it. That way, your huck rivets we'll get painted will get painted.
i seen a guy the other day left his original hand crank on the driver side but he fixed it on a two way electric switch and you just raise or lower the hand crank just a little bit and it raised and lowered the window up and down
Any thought on building a rubber duck mack?
Cut onions in half and leave. They are meant to absorb the smell.
Another old body man trick is to use a rag under your hand. You'll be able to feel dents and imperfections better.
paint the hood sitting how it will be on the truck or the metal flake won't lay down right. We painted my sons car and the gas door was off the car and upside down. It was sprayed at the same time but the color looks different.
What if you nosed the truck in and left the tandems out side. Close the door down to the frame/5th wheel area. Put your fans and plastic on the sides???
Would have to do it before the weather gets too cold.
🤔
Try singing the following to Ray Charles' tune, "I Can't Stop Lovin' You:"
It's time for some help, or two . . . I've made up my mind . . .
to live in harmony . . . of the lonesome times.
Some teenage help, will do . . . It's useful to say . . .
So they'll sweep up my shop real clean . . .
with dreams of yesterdays . . .
Perhaps another loyal viewer can suggest the next verse . . . ?
If you're using a metallic paint, you need to have the hood closed otherwise it'll look a diffident shade due to the way the metal flake lies.
👍
You should install those windo.regulator before you do any pain in case you need to weld on tabs or anything
🤔
Honestly the two tone silver and blue on LBL that’s happening ffe I’m the body work
Would actually be a handsome paint job
Hey mark out of curiosity would you ever do a rubber duck movie tribute truck?
Could just pull out the kw and back the Pete in sideways or u have that hoist latch on the back and swing the ass around to the side
You have room so remove hood paint next to truck.less runs if flat versus verticle
Most paint shops pull the hood and put it on a set of horses to paint. Eat an elephant one bite at a time.
Those old GM cars the door hinges always get worn out. They sell new pin and bushing kits
Whilst you will not be working on pork chop. The cab cleaning has to happen so you can start her up every now and again and take her for a drive. At least you will be motivated to work on her. Keep em cumming 👍👍👍👍
Idk if you seen my comment on the last video but might want to look in to getting it wrapped in a heavy metallic maybe cheaper
Bird has replaceable hinge bushings , go to your GM store
Hey Mark! Great work as always. I have never painted any car or truck, but how difficult would it be to take the bunk and the hood off the truck and paint them on the ground? That would seem to give you the best access to all sides and prevent you from having to open and close the hood constantly. Just a thought. Love the channel and your videos!
If you were here when he dragged out LBL tap in 👌🏾
What’s next a MACK R as the Duck
It attaches to the inner panel
You need silver GMC general
Turn the truck around to paint it
