Oh Frieda, I'm so sad to hear that you're disappointed in your creation. I personally think it's breathtaking in it's form and function. The silhouette is magnificent in its hourglass perfection. The contrasting textures and soft hues of ivory provide a tone on tone interest that gives the dress a feminine and ethereal like quality,, whilst the contrasting structure of the crisp white boning channels provides an overall air of strength and leadership. I would wear that gown with enormous pride and feel like a Goddess.
thank you so much for your nice words! I think I said it a bit harsher than I intended to. I'm mostly disappointed that the picture in my head didn't really transport onto the dress. So the dress itself isn't bad, it's just not how I imagined it to look like. It means a lot to me though that you like it so much. I had a lot of fun making it so I think it definitely deserves some love!
@@friedalepold I read in one of your other replies that you are already working on creating a fall themed overgown for the dress. That sounds amazing. I can't wait to see!
The dress has the potential to be everything. Maybe even a different transparent top layer for every season. Colorful leaves, snowflakes, cherry blossoms or even the sea and waves. It could be your chameleon.
I like the idea of a part 2. 1. sometimes all the pieces don’t quite work together. 2. this would be a perfect under-structure. 3. I’m sure you have a hundred ideas for where this project will go. Thank you for allowing us a glimpse of your creative process ❤️
Dissatisfaction with a finished piece is a very familiar feeling. If you think you can make it better, I 100% believe you. Maybe your part 2 will inspire me to go back and make all the revisions that haunt me but I ran out of time for the first time around.
This dress has become my personal favorite. Beautiful! A true artist is never satisfied, even if he has created something perfect. I'm waiting for the second video. 💖
i am currently a very new beginner in the whole sewing business but will be making my own brand and business in the coming year or two, and im scavenging youtube and the internet for all the guides, tutorials, and help in the various fields from measuring and drafting to actually sewing and let me tell you i find this video extremely inspirational in shape of the corset as well as procedure. Thank you so much for making this
What you presented as the final dress looked beautiful, albeit on my cell phone and after your ending commentary I will have to look at it on my TV to see what you're talking about but I can't imagine I will change my mind. Whatever you create always amazes with your process and attention to detail and I just am fascinated by your fashion designs but everything that goes into your productions. Now you just blew me away further with your piano playing... Another level of talent to inspire us!!! Milanote looks like a great tool, thanks for bringing it to our attention.
I can relate to your disappointment of something not turning out how you want while everyone else is praising the end result. I hope and pray you can find some peace in the beautiful construction of what you made, learn from it, and make something else that really captures the essence or look you were going for. It reminds me of a modern take on a chemise a la reine (sp?)! As always, as a baby sewist, I always learn something from you that I'm sure to use when trying to make garments, especially my wedding dress.
I really liked the shades of white. It looked intentional, which I believe to make it a success. It does have a bit of an undergarment look, but that is a popular trend and it is lovely. Now, I have watched your second video when you re-work this dress and that dress is stunning. It looks more finished and complete. Overall beautiful work. Thank you for sharing. Diana-
I think that the dress is absolutely stunning! It has such a beautiful silhouette and I especially like the flat pieces that carry all the way from the corset to the hem. That said, I also fell in love with how beautiful and delicate the seams looked before being covered by the boning channels. I'd love to see a part two of this, wherever your creativity takes you!
I love the softness of the dress and I'm sad that it didn't turn out the way you wanted. I'm an amateur sewist but have been lightly researching historical corsetry for around 4 years now and have seen different techniques used for boning. If you don't want to cover the seams, I find that you can either install the boning on the inside (either between the structure and lining layers) or make the bone casing from the same fabric as your fashion layer. This gives the corset a more uniform finish and works even if boning is placed in the centre of pieces, like with the corset I've made. But these are the words of an amateur, and I apologize for any inaccuracies. Whether you decide to revisit, build onto, or overall scrap this design I look forward to what you make next! I love your videos and the time you take to explain your process.
Yes. Please make a part 2 only because it will teach alterations of addends to what you have already made. The original is beautiful. You teach skill well
Hi Frieda, your talent is incredible. I would love it if you made a video about your training and experience. Did you study at fashion school and if so what courses did you take? Did you do work experience or work in an atelier before starting your own business? A little bit of history to understand how you acquired all your amazing skills and are able to design, pattern-make and sew these wonderful garments. I always find it fascinating to learn about people’s paths and how they got to where they are. Thanks for such beautiful and inspiring content!
It’s incredible to see something so beautiful come to life from idea to finished piece. It’s baffling to me that you are disappointed whilst I am sat here in absolute AWE. I wish I could go to a sewing class as I have so many ideas in my head, but only a relatively basic understanding of my sewing machine & how to make something from nothing with the right fabric, pattern matching, stitch type etc. If you ever decide to host a class I would happily travel over!! Next year I hope to be able to travel as I am trying to sell my home and hopefully get a camper van for the dogs & I since sadly, I can’t work like I used to🖤🪽
I think the dress is absolutely gorgeous in its simplicity and i like the undergarments look as well; but yes i would like to see part 2, and to see how you would upgrade it! Thank you❤️
Its beautiful... I think the "mis-match" adds to its appeal & feel of being "under' something as you say, and should show its 'flaws' as so many exant items reveal upon inspection. Maybe a new trend of 'naked gowns' to follow from the naked wedding cake? Do go further... love to see your ideas. Thanks❤ ❤
That is a STUNNING project, I loved to see you play the piano as well. Deffinetly "yes" to part 2 idea! It is so interesting to hear your afterthoughts, how you see your own project and how it brings inspiration to future ones. Yet this dress seems still so elegant and airy, I hope you get to use it at least once more :)
Hi , Frieda. I agree with you, I think the metal boning do change the corset, the mookup looks so much better fitting and perfect seams,Maybe try the plastic boning 😂😂, but I like all your work, very peaceful to watch ❤❤❤
You play! I recognize those hands. That solves the music problem. I've been stuck with the sound issues, but decided to finish my graphic novel series and go back to videos next year. I play the bass, which would not be a great background for videos! :D This is excellent and you are so lovely! You're videos definitely lift the quality of the community! Thank you!
I think it is a lovely design and execution. You are definitely, as we all are, more critical of your own work. I would be proud to have made that dress or even something close to it but if you aren't happy with it by all means explore away until it brings you joy... But I honestly think it's beautiful! I love the seams and structure of the garment. Simply stunning 💙
I love this dress! But it would be nice to see iterations of this pattern in the future. And yes, I'm a Milanote user. Kudos to Milanote for supporting creatives like you:)
Oh, Frieda, this dress is exquisite! But, I do understand your creative sadness. Part 3(+) would be wonderful to see your process of solving a problem. It’s hard for us to see your displeasure with this project, as the camera shields what you are unhappy with. I think, we all can say thank you for your hard work. Your hands are quite beautiful and watching you play the piano was wonderful!
Yes, would love a part two. Mostly because i liked how this dress turned out and i dont undestand your criticism of it, so if you made a second dress that comes up to your expectation, i would be able to see the difference😊
I think this was a fascinating take on the unseen parts of a fitted gown. I totally get why you’re not happy with the end result but I think it was a valuable learning experience. I’d be very interested in a part 2 Frieda!❤
Spiral steel boning is my favourite to use! I would love to see a project where you create an overdress for this as the under layer. Oh, ad you play beautifully! I found myself wanting to see a video of you just playing the piano!
I like a lot this dress! Is very fashionable. I have seen many women wear corsets as an outer layer. The overall image of the dress is that it is very well tailored, clean ends and very well thought. I say 9,5/10 Only 9,5 instead of 10 because of my personal taste🙈 I do see you have a different taste and aesthetic so in those terms is an absolute win!
Looking forward to checking out Milanote! It will be perfect for the way I work on my projects. I’m sorry you didn’t like your final product. I wondered about wearing that to a function. It would be such a conversation starter for a formal event we go to every year. Every one tries to have the next best dress. This would definitely be that!
This dress is Amazing. The fact that you show parts of a garment that we are not used to see make me feel a little bit unconfortable. I'm not a born english speaker so i'm not sure to express well my idea. However, i tell it again but these dress is a piece of art for me. It perfectly shows your sewing and modelist skills and i love your fabrics choices. Long ago, my art teacher told me that art was the thing that give feelings (wrong or right) to the audience. (I'm sorry again, my translation is awful). And each time i produce something i've got these odd feeling of i don't know wether i love or hate what i did. So i couldn't tell you how much i admire your work. And yes i'd love to see a part two of these video. Thank you to share this with us.
wow, it's beautiful!! i think it turned out wonderful and the different shades of white adds interest in my opinion. however, if you do make a second part where you implement the adjustments you mentioned, i would love to see it!✨️
I would love to see a part 2 just to see inside your creative process. Even though I personally think the dress is beautiful, you are the creator of it and I’d love to see what you can do with it to make it feel complete.
I thought that this dress was quite beautiful. I personally would use a different colour. But it is really a good shape, it looks wonderful when being worn. Thank you for sharing.
I think it is lovely. It has a fairy tale silhouette, it's so soft and feminine. The different tones, I really do like, especially with the boning. It's stunning really and feels very luxurious. I can also see how you might want to tweak things because it is an underlayer, but I think it stands well in its own right. It would be fun to see the seaming in the corset without the boning channels on the outside. I would be happy to watch a part two.
I would both love to see how you change or improove on this pattern with a new dress, but also what can you do to be more satisfied with this one. I feel like all of us at some point end up with a creation that dissappointed us, and would love to see problem solving in situations such as these from a pro. Also it would be a shame if all that work and planning went to waste. The dress looks stunnig to me, but as a perfectionist I fully understand the desire of it being just as you imagined.
I love your work and can't wait to see which direction you take this creation . I'm intrigued with the idea of you using it as the under structure of another dress . Or maybe using the mock up design over top? It will be magical no matter what you do. Much ❤😊
Beautiful work! I am always inspired by your precision. Even though I think the final result is so lovely, I agree that the mock-up was also for me on another level of breathtaking. I am excited to see how you will build further on this pattern and concept! Dissapointment during or after working on a creation is a common feeling, I believe. It is not always easy to adress. Trust the process or follow your intuition? And afterwards, do you learn to love it or persevere with your vision and redo parts/the project? It is an interesting duality within creation that I often struggle with.
(Linda) Frieda, your dress is amazing, but i understand what you are saying; since you had an idea and it did no reveal itself as you thought. Yes a Part 2 would be interesting to see how you will bring this dress to it's next level "of your inspiration idea'. But personally, I love what you did 🥰
I thought the dress is beautiful! But I totally get that feeling when it doesn't /quite/ come out as you imagined. As to your question, I like the idea of reimagining the corset pattern for a different dress and having the pattern itself be the focal point, but if you don't like the dress you've made, then I'd say no point in keeping it around and use it for something else :)
I see the previous corsett dress more as understructure for the final result. The Watteau pleads are marvellous. The colour (for redhaired?) is not my favourite but that’s personal, fabric and texture is gorgeous.
A bit late to this one but I can definitely say that I'd love to see a part two. I feel like you've been able to do something very similar with the Skeleton Dress; the sheer top part of the corset beautifully displayed the seams and gave the impression of seeing the inside on the outside. Maybe a bigger contrast between the fabrics to bring out those details you wanted at the forefront instead of very slightly different hues? If I wasn't already using Milanote, I'd use your link! =) Right now I'm only using it to plan out my cosplays but I can see that it has potential for other applications like recipe development.
I personally LOVED this dress. I think it would be cool to see you do another dress and just improve on what you didn’t like. Since I’m wondering how that would change things and do a comparison video of the two?
This is an incredible dress! I would wear this as the beautiful couture it is. I love your videos so much though I'm always up for a part two😊 P.s maybe in being the perfectionist you need to be to create the beautiful couture you make. Do you think you might not like any mismatching or visable understructure? Much love from the UK xxxxxx
I thought the dress was and is beautiful..?? But if you’re happy then, yes I would love a refashion. You can and feel the love you have for you talent, it shows greatly in the creations. ❤❤❤❤❤
It's beautiful, but if you are not satisfied, your feelings are valid. I think that for me - as your viewer and a sewist - it would be most interesting to see the dress modified, so that you are happy with it.

Gorgeous design
Yes please Frieda, I look forward to seeing you realize whatever tweaking ideas have come to mind.
If you do make a part 2 I would love to see what you change or add to it. 😊
I absolutely love the finished dress, would absolutely love a second part where you rework your idea and make it again in a different way!

I don't really wear dresses or want to get married but I would 100% get married in that dress lol. That's the prettiest dress I've ever seen!
I can’t wait for the part 2. The pattern is amazing! I love seeing you work.
I'd love to see a part two! Evolutions in thinking + process are so interesting. :)
Yes, would love a part two. Mostly because i liked how this dress turned out and i dont undestand your criticism of it, so if you made a second dress that comes up to your expectation, i would be able to see the difference😊

Beautiful dress and stunning pattern for the corset! I loved this kind of video where you showed how you got inspiration and put it all together ❤

I say 9,5/10
Only 9,5 instead of 10 because of my personal taste🙈 I do see you have a different taste and aesthetic so in those terms is an absolute win!
I'am fascinated by your projects, your creations and y like the way you prepare them. Your latest job it's wonderful 😊
Another aesthetically gorgeous video ❤. Would also love to see a Part2 (Helen)

I love the dress! It’s very sculptural and reminds me of Rivendell from the Lord of the Rings ❤️
I absolutely love this dress haha. Maybe I'm just inexperienced but I enjoy the look of the final design
You look so beautifully and amazing work 🕊️
It looks like a fairy dress she'd wear before doing all her fairy business, at home, looking amazing

The pattern is beautiful, and though it does need something, as an under dress you should be proud.
Love the elegance of this dress
Stunningly beautiful
Beautiful dress Frieda greetings from Argentina ❤️🇦🇷
A bit late to this one but I can definitely say that I'd love to see a part two. I feel like you've been able to do something very similar with the Skeleton Dress; the sheer top part of the corset beautifully displayed the seams and gave the impression of seeing the inside on the outside. Maybe a bigger contrast between the fabrics to bring out those details you wanted at the forefront instead of very slightly different hues?
If I wasn't already using Milanote, I'd use your link! =) Right now I'm only using it to plan out my cosplays but I can see that it has potential for other applications like recipe development.
Please do a part for this dress, it’s beautiful
I love this dress! I’m sad that you don’t like it, but I get it. I would love to see a part 2 🙂💛
I personally LOVED this dress. I think it would be cool to see you do another dress and just improve on what you didn’t like. Since I’m wondering how that would change things and do a comparison video of the two?
It's beautiful! It would be great to see your complete vision
I love your craftsmanship. I wish to learn
Would love to see a part 2!
Absolutely, beautiful.
Better tutor ever ❤❤
This is stunning!!
So lovely. It makes me think of a ballerina's dress. I'd love to see you dance in it.
This is an incredible dress! I would wear this as the beautiful couture it is. I love your videos so much though I'm always up for a part two😊
P.s maybe in being the perfectionist you need to be to create the beautiful couture you make. Do you think you might not like any mismatching or visable understructure? Much love from the UK xxxxxx
Part 2 please.. but I like this one 🥰
The GASP I GASPED at seeing the gown 🤯
yess please, 2 part
WHO ALLOWED YOU TO DEPRIVE ME OF AIR WITH SUCH A BREATHTAKING DRESS✨❤😍😍😍
I thought the dress was and is beautiful..?? But if you’re happy then, yes I would love a refashion. You can and feel the love you have for you talent, it shows greatly in the creations. ❤❤❤❤❤
This is so beautiful 😍
It's beautiful, but if you are not satisfied, your feelings are valid. I think that for me - as your viewer and a sewist - it would be most interesting to see the dress modified, so that you are happy with it.
I love the dress in its simplicity. Maybe do a blush or pale lavendar color next time? The overall design is gorgeous though. 🥰
