the seam work on the bodice alone is beautiful enough but all of it together with the sleeves and the skirt and the gloves is absolutely spectacular chef's kisses all around
The dress is not only ridiculously beautuful, but the way you plan and execute it is too. I am so impressed! The gloves, the bodice the darts.... PERFECTION!
The dress is simply stunning, I love the fabric you chose for it, it certainly gives it a metallic look! On first glance it looks like sheet metal that should be uncomfortable to wear but when you move and the dress moves with you it almost seems like the metal is molten and floating around you, especially the skirt. Fantastic work, thank you for sharing the making of it :)
Oh man, the exaggerated shoulder, the waist pleating, the gloves…I don’t know what is most inspiring. I thought it was a bold choice to use one single fashion fabric to achieve the texture of the armor but it showcases the construction’s elegance so beautifully. Chef’s kiss ❤️
I spent 8 hours today handsewing silver trim onto the shoulder rolls of an 1570s gown, and I'm not even halfway done with those. I thought I put a lot of time into details, but you take it to the next level. Incredible!
You 100% achieved your goal, and then some. It’s remarkable. And so beautiful. I’m always amazed by not only the beauty of your work, but your patience in executing each step with such attention to every detail. And never taking a short cut. You are such a delight to watch, listen to and learn from. Brava!
I love how your videos are such a contrast to many other youtubers I've seen who focus on snappy transitions and filling every second of the video with a voice over. Your emphasis on a slow, methodical process is so much more realistic and makes me feel much better about how long my own sewing process takes me. I'll definitely be checking out your patreon and I would love to see more behind the scenes of how you plan and document your sewing processes before getting into to mockup stage and even how long a project like this takes you on average. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and talent with us! :)
The tailoring is exquisite. The blue-silver sheen of the material is also doing a very important job of looking like metal. I prefer clothes with "good bones" like the dress shown in this video. I am not a very good tailor, but I do enjoy thrifting then reno-ing garments. It can be such an amazing discovery when sequins, ruffles, ribbons are removed to undercover a classic piece that will be treasured and used.
I've seen armor dresses before, but yours far surpasses those. All the layers, the pleats, the sculpting, the corset, the mock ups, the gazillion pattern pieces, the gloves...Yes, with all of that, you achieved your goal. What I love most is that the dress somehow looks rigid and sculpted but also fluid and drapey. Not an easy effect to achieve! I'm so glad you are now on Patreon! I'll see you there.
This is so beautiful... and messes with the mind as you definitely gave the feeling of a suit of armor that also flows beautifully. Such artistic work and the choice of color and material is really just so perfect! Your techniques to get those very clean "joint" lines and then a soft shoulder were key to this effect. You do such lovely and imaginative work!
Absolutely stunning. The final result was just BREATHTAKING. And the gloves! I can't believe you made gloves that look and move like gauntlets out of the same fashion fabric! Your work is always incredible but WOW
Frieda, This is the most glorious Armor/ Gown imaginable! Seriously, such an incredible design. Your imagination is beautiful and your talent meets your imagination so wonderfully. I am glad to have been shown a bit of the tedious work that goes into this. With your different piles of pattern tries, mockup materials that needed re done. I think people think if you have your type of talent, it just comes easily. Not realizing, you put in a lot of hard work and time! I found it fascinating, to see you putting together the different elements you liked from different pieces and styles of Armor. To see you really transform fabrics to represent the details in the metal, was magical! I too am amazed when a cos player take foam and other random item's, then turn it into something that looks like a completely different. It is quite awesome and magical. When I see you take your idea and put it on paper, then onto a plain fabric that is pinned and stitched into a shape! It's during this process I start to see something beautiful emerge, then it goes onto a magnificent perfectly chosen, type and color of fabric, it's awe inspiring! It's an amazing type of art that I get to watch. Like watching a sculpture, painter, and composer all in one! It's a glorious design, beautiful Gown, inspired by detailed Armor❤ It's a spectacular 🎉 So well done, Frieda. I truly enjoyed the way you filmed this. I liked the length very much. I could say so much more, but this is ridiculously long 😊 With sincere respect and joy, Audri
that is incredible... you should be very proud of yourself... it is a sewing achievement... that is a beautiful dress... thank you for sharing your talent with us... i can't wait to see more videos from you... hugs from Dallas...
it moves beautifully and I love the buttons in the back being a bit hidden but peeking out just a bit. and of course the structure is gorgeous, you really captured the look of armor while keeping the softness of a dress!
The fabric choice I think was vey inspired, it really made the craftsmanship details shine!! I also believe all the different bases and interfacings were the MVPs of this project, they really brought to life the illusion of the overlapping plates on the corset and gloves Absolutely gorgeous and inspiring project ❤
I found your channel a couple months ago and you’ve inspired me to sew more! And just being able to appreciate hand sewing and ironing my work like you. Your design are absolutely beautiful and I can’t stop talking about your channel to people! Thank you for another fabulous video!❤️ Edit: finished the video and holy moly this has to be my favorite of your designs. Absolutely beautiful!!!!!! Those glove are immaculate🙏🙏
I can absolutely see how Netflix or another big streaming platform will steal this for one of their next productions. With some alterations, of course, but the idea will be taken from this awesome video.
Less of a dress? This is Amazing! I love the look of the laminar armour and was pleased to see your process for those shoulders - so much work, creativity, and skill.
I sew, but I'm also a jeweler and metalsmith. I've thought a lot about creating a dress like this, where there would be both fabric and armor details. But oh my god!... It never occurred to me to do something like this. I think it's an amazing idea and we can see the beautiful realization of it. Thank you for this!!!
Magnificent! You achieved your stated goals. I love your fabric choice--it suggests metal while yet providing a sensuous fluidity. Also, I appreciate how meticulous you are in showing your process to us without letting the pace drag or seem too involved. What a great sense of balance in editing your content! Brava! You are quite the artist.
Wow! That’s amazing! You really pulled off a complex idea. Really enjoyed watching the process, a dress like this is part built, part sculpted and people don’t realize that.
The dress is incredible. It really looks like armor while also looking flowy which is a bit mind boggling because this is not an adjective I thought I would associate with armour. The sleeves are great with the pleats under the shoulder piece. The darts on the bodices also add a lot. This is really impressive and it was really interesting to see more of the drafting process.
Oh my god, that's look incredible ❤️❤️❤️ Perfect match between looking fierce and delicate. You pushed the knightcore took to an other level and I'm here for that ! ✨❤️
So lovely! As are you. Such a dress really is modern-day armor: It helps us defend ourselves against a multitude of attitudes and attacks; such that we can go far and accomplish much that would never have been accessible clad in cut-offs and a tank top.
The word magnificent doesn’t even cover it. I always love everything you do, I’m always in awe with so much creativity and so much skill. But this one. This one will live in my head for decades to come. Watching you channel makes me want to learn patterning so badly!
loooooooooove it! Thank you for opening up my mind that i don't have to follow any traditional ideas about how to make a corset or gloves. I have to make those gloves!!!!!!
What a masterpiece, and so much work you put in to it! This video is my first of yours, but not my last. Your voice is so pleasant and holds a certain slow burning reverence and passion, I adore it! I think you did achieve the contrast between harsh metal and soft fabric beautifully!
Eeeee this is STUNNING 😮 Amazing work as always. Last year I pushed my sewing skills and made a version of your skeleton dress using your video as a tutorial. It took 3 mock-ups and several pattern draft adjustments, but the end result was very similar. Now I want to try this one 😅
Wow, the dress looks amazing! I've never seen a dress like this where the look of armour ist achived with fabric. You're so talented! I also love your "Maus"-Sweater ❤
This is amazing, looks like a hero costume for a fantasy film/tv show in the best possible way. Also off topic I wish you did narration for audiobooks because your voice is so soothing I bet I’d go to sleep easily listening to you (sleep is very difficult for me).
I love this! I have actually had a similar idea for an armor inspired dress for a while so it’s very inspiring to see someone tackling it and making it a reality!
Great work! I especially like the way you included the struggles, making it clear just how much work goes into that kind of design. The dress certainly LOOKS like armour, but you could have added to the illusion by using two simple to also make it MOVE like armour (well, almost, nobody wants such discomfort, I assume...): 1. Boning the edges of each panel, especially the bottom of the "breast plate" and the gloves 2. Add rivets. Armour was mainly held together by strategically placed rivets in the spots that move the least, leaving the rest of it to move independently of the ones next to it unless attached to other panels at the maximum extent. Adding such rivets would especially improve the gloves. Adding both of those, combined, the gloves would look much more like armour without becoming uncomfortable to wear if you use fine boning sewn into the lining of each panel edge and rivet through the bones where the panels meet. I really hope this is not received as negative, because it really, really was meant as just hints to use if or when you want to! You most certainly have all the skills required already, and your sewing is beyond impressive to an amateur like me. It's just that I seem to have acquired some weird understanding of anatomy compared to what is worn on a human body after making a couple of corsets that fit perfectly (and dreading to take up the re-construction of my own, since I took it apart to allow the boobies to sag a little bit more instead of almost hitting my chin when leaning back, and taking in the waist of my daughter's so she can lace up a bit tighter when she wants to) and, oddly, studying some true crime in addition to a life long need to thoroughly understand how things actually work.
Simply Stunning ❤ Brilliant concept and execution ❤ I am always impressed with your dedication to your projects and so thankful that you share it with us. ❤
Absolutely amazing, so talented how you are able to make your vision come to live and to take a concept like armour and yet still create an absolute amazing dress ❤
That turned out beautiful! You looked so lovely in it too! You are a very talented designer and it is so interesting on how you get where you are going. Thank you for sharing this. I loved it lol
I think this project was a tremendous success. The dress is both elegant and powerful. It's a dream of mine to see you collaborate with Hazariel Atelier someday. You both make such intricate, expertly crafted projects. I always look forward to watching your videos.
Im on Patreon now! patreon.com/FriedaLepold ! Ill post a Video of how I made the gloves in more detail over there today :)
the seam work on the bodice alone is beautiful enough but all of it together with the sleeves and the skirt and the gloves is absolutely spectacular chef's kisses all around
I agree. All the pieces work together to make one elevated dress.
The dress is not only ridiculously beautuful, but the way you plan and execute it is too. I am so impressed! The gloves, the bodice the darts.... PERFECTION!

It's giving 1930's old hollywood glamour meets Game of Thrones. Stunning as expected.
This is SO beautiful! I can totally see a “bridal” white version of this too that would be really cool!
Yes!!! Gorgeous!
I spent 8 hours today handsewing silver trim onto the shoulder rolls of an 1570s gown, and I'm not even halfway done with those. I thought I put a lot of time into details, but you take it to the next level. Incredible!
8 hours is dedication!!! that gown sounds like it is going to be incredible with all this time and love put into it ❤
You 100% achieved your goal, and then some. It’s remarkable. And so beautiful. It's like old Hollywood glamor and the Pre-Raphailite medieval aesthetic had a dream about King Arthur. I love it! 🥰🙏
100%, that really describes it well
Your craftsmanship is among the best I’ve seen on TH-cam. Bravo! You’re a true artist.
Lady of the Lake Core! Absolutely Fantastic!
The dress is unsurpassed! I have never seen something like that piece of garment

With sincere respect and joy,
Audri
I can’t get over how smooth everything is! You absolutely succeeded in making fabric look like armor. Now I have to fight the urge to make one myself
I LOVE IT SO MUCH OMFG!!!!!! Excuse my excitement but AHHH!! It’s literally one of the most gorgeous dresses I’ve ever seen. Literally a dream dress.
I. Am. Speechless. you definitely achieved your goal.
So beautiful! I have been a professional patternmaker for 25 yrs. I loved watching the process. I know what it takes to create such a gorgeous!!!
This dress is amazing! I think it definitely embodies armor. Fantastically done!
Its so so beautiful and you knocked it out of the park. I love the sheen of the fabric and the flow.
I cant get over how beautiful this dress is. The rain made it even more beautiful, it almost aged the "metal" effect and gave it battle damage.
that is incredible... you should be very proud of yourself... it is a sewing achievement... that is a beautiful dress... thank you for sharing your talent with us... i can't wait to see more videos from you... hugs from Dallas...

Less of a dress? This is Amazing! I love the look of the laminar armour and was pleased to see your process for those shoulders - so much work, creativity, and skill.
Simply beautiful, what an amazing dress. I could see a queen or first lady proudly wearing it. You have incredible skills.
this is absolutely stunning ! i love the shape and elegance of the bodice yet it has a air of strength and femininity that makes it magical
Gorgeous, absolutely stunning. The details look very much like they're from armor. 😮
I sew, but I'm also a jeweler and metalsmith.
I've thought a lot about creating a dress like this, where there would be both fabric and armor details.

Well done, so impressd with this concept, run with your imagination, it holds no bounds.
This is glorious. A true red carpet look. The concept and the execution are both superb.
Stunning…absolutely stunning 🩶🤍🩶🤍🩶
Absolutely stunning and I love how you use the nature of fabric as an advantage! Looks like armor but is also elegant ☺️

The illusion is really successful, the fabric choice was great!
Your work is always so meticulous and beautiful.
The dress is stunning and just the perfect blend between armour and elegant dress. Love it!
Every new piece you make becomes my new favorite. You are a visionary artist and a master of your craft.
This really is sculpture in fabric. Just stunning. So inspiring. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all. 😊❤
I love this! I have saved so many reference photos of fabric pieces that look like armor so I was very excited to see this video pop-up.
Might be the most beautiful sewing creation i have ever witnessed on youtube, and i follow many creative channels
Gorgeous. I couldn't only dream of the patience it takes to sew and construct garments
I love your meticulous attention to detail. Everything perfectly placed and finished with care. It's an absolute triumph! 😮😮😮
frieda, it's stunning!! the fabric definitely gives a liquid metal effect. the dress looks like elvish armor for sure, and the gloves are epic!
Wow, the dress really turned out awesome. It’s beautiful on you. You are a very patient person, as well! The number of pins, my gosh.
It's so nice to see you smile. You really achieved and succeeded in making a knight dress! It's amazing!
I think this is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen 🔥
Ugh, coolest sewing concept I've ever seen! 😍😍❤
Thank you for making this!! As a glove maker i will definitely add your patron channel! :)
This is an extraordinary amount of work and expertise! You should be proud of your craftsmanship, this is what mastery looks like!
Oh my god, that's look incredible ❤️❤️❤️
Perfect match between looking fierce and delicate. You pushed the knightcore took to an other level and I'm here for that ! ✨❤️

You are by far an extremely talented sewist!! Les doigts de fées!🧚♀
loooooooooove it! Thank you for opening up my mind that i don't have to follow any traditional ideas about how to make a corset or gloves. I have to make those gloves!!!!!!
The way my FACE LIT UP when I saw that thumbnail and title, man I'm GIDDY 😁

Hi, the dress is fabulous. The armour effect is wonderful. You are a very talented dressmaker.
It's magnificent. I've learned so much from watching your videos, but this one was particularly timely.
A thing of beaty and incredible craftsmenship! Great job!
I love this! I have actually had a similar idea for an armor inspired dress for a while so it’s very inspiring to see someone tackling it and making it a reality!
Unmatched talent! The dress turned out so amazing, and I’m curious who else will be wearing it!
Looks great. Love the pleats and the connecting pieces. Awesome 🎉

I love everything I've seen of the dress so far and can't wait to watch the video! 🥹♥️
It’s exquisite, well done! Your attention to detail is outstanding as usual. ❤
As always in awe of your skill and creativity. Stunning!
This was so beautiful. THE GLOVES. The fibers looked so long and elegant. 🥹 I just found your channel and I’m already addicted.
You are so creative, Frieda, I can't wait to see what you come up with next time.
this is insanely impressive, stunning and magical!
Amazing 🤩 I really appreciate how you show how much work is involved. The dress is fantastic, and those gloves are spectacular.

All I can say is a few words: FRICKING GORGEOUS!!!
Thank you for this post! Such fun , and challenging parts, you made this seem as though anyone can accomplish this project!!
