I like it when creators show everything that could go awry with a project. The slippery fabric, the bunching of the fabric, the direction of the fabric, the poking of the boning, the ugliness of the bustier underneath the dress, the dissapointment with some results, the slow progress, the step by step process. Thank you for sharing it all. Nothing is easy to make and you still held on and progressed even after being dissapointed.
The dress is stunning! The back is a true work of art. I've been a seamstress and quilter for over 55 years and you should be proud of this piece. Continue sewing life beautiful... Diana
I liked the original dress for what it was meant to be - a corset dress. This one looks like a brand new patters, especially playing with the direction of the shine of the fabric. Very satisfying, since the color is my favorite. Beautiful work, Freda!
from a seamstress to another... the way all the seams and fabric on the corset lays so smoothly?! chef's kiss! perfection! especially given the fabric used that can so easily pick up shadows with imperfections?! 🤌🤌🙌👏👏
The fabric getting wet at the end killed me 😭😭😭 It’s absolutely beautiful ❤ I’ve never seen a dress pleated like that up to the back! The color, the design of the corset and skirt are all 😍😍😍
I watched the reveal and final thoughts of it first video again and noticed the fit of the top of the corset. While I think the first dress was beautiful, I can understand your disappointment that it didn’t meet your expectations and your vision of the design. The play with the fabric sheen accentuated the seams and the Watteau pleats added drama to the second dress. It’s truly gorgeous. I hope you will be able to use this lovely design at some point in the future. Thank you for sharing your creative processes, inspiration, and meticulous work.
It’s nice to be able to speak without thinking, particularly if you have a soft graceful manner…sincerity is quite a transparent quantity in the majority of TH-cam televised broadcasts, wouldn’t you say?
It’s almost like the women’s institute doesn’t exist in the modern day? And civilisation resembles a nest of ferets. This definitely reminds me of Da Vincis’ Lady win An Ermine; just got to wait for Lucy Liu to arrive in her lingerie and shoot the three little pigs in the bed from Chicago.
It turned out so beautifully. I love the silhouette, and the crisp lines over the corset only a very skilled seamster could create. Your work is just so technically proficient and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your process.
Little tip for removing bits of thread in ripped-out seams: use a (new) gum eraser on the fabric - looped thread side works best. The eraser will grab onto the bits of thread and pull them out. Genius! I only learned this recently. Been sewing for over 50 years and just learned this trick!
Your bodice is exquisite. When you mentioned that you were playing with the nap or shine of the fabric I wasn’t sure but the final result was chef’s kiss. Love your channel.
Elegant, dramatic, surprising. I feel like I have rarely seen this type of construction where a cape is created from the skirt itself. That upsweep is also so gorgeously balanced by the deep dip of the corset in front. You’ve created a fascinating silhouette that I just want to keep looking at!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by the design and craftsmanship but you’re really, truly skilled in both ways. I’ve never seen a dress quite like this. A beautiful surprise.
Both dresses have their merits, they are both lovely in their own ways for what they were intended to be, but the drama of this one fills my mind full of fabric ideas.
Oh, how beautiful! This gown is stunning! The chestnut color is very beautiful, and pairing it with your lovely locks of hair and your skin color is absolutely gorgeous!!🤩👏🏻👏🏻🍂🍁…and you have the most beautiful hands, I love watching you caress and guide the fabric…
I totally agree. Your soft voice, explaining details, careful pinning in preparation of sewing, every detail, is like a love story gently told. Graceful, charming, even sensual. A beautiful artist wearing her art. 😊❤
Your designs are beautiful and your construction of the dresses is perfection. Thank you from sharing. Viewing your video from the state of Arizona in USA.
It looks beautiful. I like the brown dress best. The angle gathers from the back are stunning. I did watch the white dress video as well. Turning some of the patterns pieces to get a darker shade was brilliant. I enjoy all of your videos. They are produced very well and have an ethereal quality which is relaxing as well. Looking forward to more. I’m 73 yrs old and my mom taught me to sew when I was about 10 yrs old. I’m from the west coast of Canada. Take care.
My thoughts and feelings align with so many others'. I loved the ghostly feel of the white dress, all on it's own. It had that liminal theatrical whimsy I love so much. Also, and quite differently, I love the "liquidy" elegant flow of the brown dress. It's so quintessentially late autumn and formally smooth. The watteau pleats add to it's beauty immensely. They're both so spectacular.
My dear, you are phenomenal at what you do. Your patients are to be commended. You should be as successful as Coco Channel. Good luck in your endeavors.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Brava. This dress is beautiful. The color of the fabric is perfect. It matches the horse’s coat perfectly. The horses liked your dress too. Best wishes from New York, New York, USA. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I´ve watched both video´s and I love both! The white dress and it´s concept is very interesting. This dress has a very different charm to it. And I love to see what you´ve done with the back. Am curious and excited to see what else you will be making, lots of love
Thank you for making a 2nd video! My favorite part is the front of the bodice. The different sheens really look fantastic! The long pleats in the back are very dramatic.
Thanks Frieda! ❤ I like your quiet „watch you sew“ videos, but I also like this deep dives when you share your knowledge with us! Mach weiter so und danke dir 😊
I love both dresses and videos. Im really glad you uploaded both. Sometimes projects just aren’t what you want, and I think it’s valuable seeing the process you used to adjust the second dress to your desired outcome. Lots of different techniques! Thank you :) *edit: at 18:09, the tree behind you makes a leafy halo crown over your head! You’re a forest princess!
Absolutely stunning Frieda. It’s historical, It’s modern. The variation in sheen added so much extra to the front. It’s just lovely. If last weeks dress had been in literally any other color, I think it would have been a success. It’s just so hard not to see undergarments when you have exposed boning and ivory together. Had it been in a plum it would have given a totally different vibe. I really love how you rolled with it and kept going. I have had many projects that have issues and they get tossed aside and it takes me forever to finish because I get stuck on what to do to fix the problems. It’s a problem that a lot of us makers have and I like seeing how people problem solve when things aren’t always perfect.
I really like the autumn dress and I think it looks wonderful on you. As I read other’s comments, the work you do is so meticulous and so fine, it’s a joy to watch you working. I also need to pray the camera work, the lighting the angles. I was very moved by it.
I learn so much from each of your videos and learn even more from those where things didn't go according to plan, because learning how to make the "alterations" really helps me with my own sewing. Thank you for sharing them.
Both dresses were nice! This dress is beautiful!! Absolutely love it! I love the pleats and especially the color! I gravitate to that color a lot for my sewing projects so i am being very bias but amazing work! 😍🔥💙
I love the contrast you achieved with the sheen directions. It looks like different fabric, it's very cool. And the design is beautiful. I really like how the gathering stops right before the mid point in the front but then keeps going in the back for an almost faux cape. The brown is very autumnal too. It's beautiful. I liked the white dress too, but it's nice to see something repurposed into something else that makes the owner happier Also, you have the most beautiful hands. I love watching you work. Hopefully that doesn't sound weird
I think that's the first time I've seen Watteau pleats done in a way that doesn't make me say, "Ugh, WHYYYY?" Cool detail. Thanks for showing us your process for taking something you weren't happy with and turning it into something you really like!
absolutely stunning and inspiring! I'm currently making a black gown that has somehow the same front and tackling the project has been stressing me a lot. thank you for sharing your journey 🥰
I hope one day I can work even a little bit as intuitively as you do with corsets. I just finished my first corset intensive class and I was the only person who didn’t leave with a usable corset (despite how hard I worked on it 😩) and I ugly cried when I got home.
I didn’t see the first video, but the dress is stunning. And I am so glad that I am not the only one who occasionally needs to remake something when it doesn’t come out quite how it was envisioned
OMG I LOVE this version of the dress. The fabric is beautiful and the final result with the way the fabric is placed on the sides from top to basque is unique and has a very stunning effect with the back length. Well well done Frieda, you are sooooo talented!!
This is stunning, as a fellow dressmaker I completely understand when you make something, spend hours on it and then at the end you just don't feel...."it"! You've done nothing wrong, it looks amazing, but you know its simply not what you entirely envisaged. I've done that, made a complete item, critiqued it, and ripped it apart to make something new. Your work is always breathtaking, truly stunning and lovingly crafted. When you model your work, you give off an ethereal air and sense of almost impossible grace, like you've stepped out of a fantasy world. Subscribing to your channel was the best move I've made in a while! Can't wait to see the next creation!! xxx
Beautiful work. I love the flow of the pleats on the back going into the front. It looks very regal. The white one was lovely, but this one is stunning.
Just so you all can sleep more peacefully: the water didn’t stain the dress! :D I hanged it in the sun to dry and no water lines remained 💪🏻
The fact she spends so long on these pieces, then proceeds to wear them through a wet field of grass is ICONIC. ❤❤

Wow! The watteau pleats joining the waistline is an incredibly gorgeous detail! Your work is so beautifully meticulous!
Thank you! ♥️
I liked the original dress for what it was meant to be - a corset dress. This one looks like a brand new patters, especially playing with the direction of the shine of the fabric. Very satisfying, since the color is my favorite. Beautiful work, Freda!
Thank you! I agree, they are both different dresses and it was fun to see what can be done with the same pattern!

Thank you so much! In the end it was fun to work on both dresses 🥰

Genius! I only learned this recently. Been sewing for over 50 years and just learned this trick!
I sometimes use tape and smooth it over the little bits, and then rip it off like a wax strip 😂
Your bodice is exquisite. When you mentioned that you were playing with the nap or shine of the fabric I wasn’t sure but the final result was chef’s kiss. Love your channel.
Thank you! I think it’s a very subtle effect that lets the pattern pieces stand out a bit more 🥰
Elegant, dramatic, surprising. I feel like I have rarely seen this type of construction where a cape is created from the skirt itself. That upsweep is also so gorgeously balanced by the deep dip of the corset in front. You’ve created a fascinating silhouette that I just want to keep looking at!

I’m so glad you remade the first attempt. This turned out so lovely the way the hard lines of the bodice contrast with the gathered back.
I’ve never thought of playing around with the sheen of a fabric to create more interesting dimension to a garment. It turned out beautifully!
The satin detail from changing how it was cut is beautiful. subtle
The dress is stunning! And you look beautiful in it. What a beautiful reveal too-the dress, your hair, and the color of the horses! Very cinematic!
Both dresses have their merits, they are both lovely in their own ways for what they were intended to be, but the drama of this one fills my mind full of fabric ideas.
Well made. Excellent construction. Beautiful material. All together a well made dress.
I absolutely adore this dress, a vision in chocolate, and so unusual. You are very talented, beautifully sewn. Xx

The switching of the fabric direction to create a contrast is stunning. Beautiful dress.
Gorgeous dress. Beautiful design and construction. Color is perfect for you.
Looks absolutely beautiful. It would be so pretty as a bridesmaid dress for a fall wedding. You are very talented.
One word…GORGEOUS!
Amazing as always. Every time I see your vlog, I crave sewing even more.
Your designs are beautiful and your construction of the dresses is perfection. Thank you from sharing. Viewing your video from the state of Arizona in USA.
This is simply stunning. Such a deceptively simple and elegant design, and so meticulously made! Beautiful work. Definitely subscribing now.
I prefer this warm brown one definitely! So super!
seeing the classical silhouette of a robe ala francaise interpreted in a modern way, makes me happy 😊
You are an artist! That was mesmerizing to watch. I would love to wear something so beautiful as this; I would never want to take it off.
It looks beautiful. I like the brown dress best. The angle gathers from the back are stunning. I did watch the white dress video as well. Wow I love the way you drawed the skirt up the back, gorgeous dress
My dear, you are phenomenal at what you do. Your patients are to be commended. You should be as successful as Coco Channel. Good luck in your endeavors.
this is the first dress I've seen of yours and you did a phenomenal job!
I like it because it’s different and unexpected. You do amazing work.
Wow the mix of watteau pleats with a strapless tight corset is a combination i would never have expected to work but it is gorgeous!! 🤩
Thanks for showing when things dont always go perfectly. I know that can be difficult, but it's a great example for those of us watching.
Amazing work! Beautifully executed. The dress is stunning!.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Brava. This dress is beautiful. The color of the fabric is perfect. It matches the horse’s coat perfectly. The horses liked your dress too. Best wishes from New York, New York, USA. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
OH MY! You are stunning! You make that dress look beautiful!💚
Absolutely stunning! The color , the style, everything about it is gorgeous!❤
I love how different the two dresses are. It's as if they're basically two dresses and therefore can't be compared too much.
I´ve watched both video´s and I love both! The white dress and it´s concept is very interesting. This dress has a very different charm to it. And I love to see what you´ve done with the back. Am curious and excited to see what else you will be making, lots of love
I really liked the previous version, but this one is spectacular. It’s is dramatic and elegant and so beautifully made!!
It’s absolutely stunning! How talented you are 🥰. Thank you for sharing 🤗.
I much prefer this dress. The fabric and colour are beautiful. Congratulations.
The watteau pleats are gorgeous, and I love the way you graduated the pleating down to the front waistline. Beautiful design!
Thank you for making a 2nd video! My favorite part is the front of the bodice. The different sheens really look fantastic! The long pleats in the back are very dramatic.
Thank you. I’m happy you like it! 🥰
It’s gorgeous! I love the brown satin and this is a big improvement over the white dress!
It's a very beautiful dress I prefer this version. The back is very gorgeous ! 🤍🤍🤍
You should be so proud of yourself! I LOVE it
Looks beautiful, exotic and mysterious!
First time I’ve ever seen your channel. I Did not see the previous dress but this one is glorious!
Thanks Frieda! ❤
I like your quiet „watch you sew“ videos, but I also like this deep dives when you share your knowledge with us!

I love the rework of the dress. The color is very autumn. I liked the white also, but this one is beautiful also. 🥰❤
I love it. It is a beautiful dress for fall. You are very creative in design and sewing skills. Love the videos..
Oh this is gorgeous, I love what you managed to make out of a dress you weren't happy with!
This is stunning! What an interesting and unique design!
I really like the autumn dress and I think it looks wonderful on you. As I read other’s comments, the work you do is so meticulous and so fine, it’s a joy to watch you working. I also need to pray the camera work, the lighting the angles. I was very moved by it.
Stunning, well done drama. Tasteful couture work that I could NEVER come close to achieving! I love watching you work!
I learn so much from each of your videos and learn even more from those where things didn't go according to plan, because learning how to make the "alterations" really helps me with my own sewing. Thank you for sharing them.
it's gorgeous! it would make a lovely wedding dress.
I never have thought of a an autumn themed dress as being strapless. But you did good work - and the fit is beautiful.
Your creations are always lovely. I must say, you have the glamorous, long fingers of Elizabeth I.
1st time looking at this vlog, what a kind thoughtful person
Both dresses were nice! This dress is beautiful!! Absolutely love it! I love the pleats and especially the color! I gravitate to that color a lot for my sewing projects so i am being very bias but amazing work! 😍🔥💙
I can tell you're a perfectionist! 😂
Absolutely amazing work - even the dress you hated is really nice.
It is beautiful so much work & now it is perfect as is.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!
Both dresses are/were lovely! Each in their own way. Everything you create is spectacular... You've got amazing skills!
Serrated scissors have been a great addition to my sewing room.
You look so much more at home in this version of the dress, and I think that just makes the design pop even more!
This dress and your amazing construction and VoiceOver made me subscribe to your channel I can’t wait for more content
This is gorgeous! And switching the fabric grain to make the shine different is genius!

Also, you have the most beautiful hands. I love watching you work. Hopefully that doesn't sound weird
Absolutely STUNNING!!!!
I love watching you work. Thank you!
Oh wow the dress turned out so beautiful, I love it! I thought the white one looked fantastic as well, but this one takes the win!
The dress that u did over is beautiful!! My daughter wants me to make her a corset dress I'm going to try!! Thxs happy sewing 😅🎉
I think that's the first time I've seen Watteau pleats done in a way that doesn't make me say, "Ugh, WHYYYY?" Cool detail.
Thanks for showing us your process for taking something you weren't happy with and turning it into something you really like!

That really sucks. Do you feel a bit better about it now? I hope you learned things, even if you didn't get the result you hoped for.
I didn’t see the first video, but the dress is stunning. And I am so glad that I am not the only one who occasionally needs to remake something when it doesn’t come out quite how it was envisioned
This dress is so beautiful! It looks like it came straight out of a fairytale
OMG I LOVE this version of the dress. The fabric is beautiful and the final result with the way the fabric is placed on the sides from top to basque is unique and has a very stunning effect with the back length. Well well done Frieda, you are sooooo talented!!

I Love that you show the imperfections. No such thing as perfect.
Beautiful work. Amazing work, in fact.
I love watching you sew❤❤
Beautiful work. I love the flow of the pleats on the back going into the front. It looks very regal. The white one was lovely, but this one is stunning.
Fabulous unique design, I have never seen such an amazing back to a dress. You are a very talented young woman.
