Just another masterclass from Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. Knopfler is one of the finest songwriters/musicians of all time. He's a virtuoso. Ranked as one of the greatest of all time. We will never have another Mark Knopfler or Dire Straits. Music of the ages and will be listened to by generations to come, well past our sell by dates lol. Excellent reaction 😊
I really enjoyed this one so much 💯💯 . I am so proud of you and happy for you ❤❤❤❤❤CONGRATS on 38K on to 50K 💯💯💯💯💯#redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #38K
Hi loving your channel and reactions especially to my favorite band DS. I recommend from this same concert Brothers In Arms and Calling Elvis. Brothers In Arms has impacted a lot of reactors. Anyway, cheers and all the best from Australia 👍🎸🎸
I love watching reactors who really appreciate Dire Straits. One of my favourite bands growing up. Musicians who are masters of their craft. Mark Knopfler is left-handed but plays the guitar the way right handed people do, so his dominant hand plays the fret. Maybe this gives him an edge on dexterity? who knows. Telegraph Road is amazing and if you love saxophone also check out Your Latest Trick.
He's playing a nylon string, classical guitar. The intro is a Spanish/classical style, at the start at least. Regarding your comments about trying to describe the music properly, no worries. Understand it's impossible to attempt to fully describe music in words. Music has been around much longer than the written word and formal language. It evolved in humans along with verbal communication. Music is a language that stands out by itself as a unique communication among humans (and to a lesser sophistication some other animals) and doesn't need words.
Mark Knopfler is a master. He had one of the best known riffs in music. Following mostly cause your musical tastes are up to mine. If you like this style, sound, acoustic prog, may I suggest Jethro Tull, "One Night In Budapest" .. there is so much great prog/instrumental/TALENTED music out there, many have forgotten about but back in the day, you needed talent to get by.
Mark is a finger picker, used on classical acoustic guitar(check out Tommy Emanuel {classical gas}) , but he liked the sound and control so much he carried it over on his electric guitars too.
Love this song. They had some really great songs. There's some brilliant closed eyes headphones on songs like this one. His unique singing style goes so well with his songs. I believe he never used a plectrum and always finger plucked. Oh and there's a fun song of theirs that you'd have fun with, tells a little funny story called Industrial Disease.
Mark rarely uses a plectrum, but does occasionally. Espresso Love and Our Shangri La are a couple of examples. It's all part of his genius. He uses all sorts of techniques, it just depends on what the song needs.
Mark has an unusual playing style in that he never uses a plectrum, he finger picks everything which gives him a very unique sound & style for a rock guitarist. The Brothers In Arms album is truly iconic.
Mark is one of three British Guitarists that I hold in the highest regard Mark Knophler David Gilmour and Eric Clapton Have you listened to Pink Floyd ? Of anything with Eric Clapton ? You won’t be disappointed.
I'd love to hear the Dire Straits version of that one. Apparently they did record it before Mark realised the lyrics meant it would be better sung by a woman. Although the rest of Dire Straits re-recorded the song with Tina, Mark was absent and Jeff Beck played lead guitar including what Mark once described as the second-worst solo of all time! I've always wondered what he considered the worst. Given how humble Mark is it was probably one of his own.
This 1991/ '92 tour would be the final tour by Dire Straits on what would be their final studio album 'On every street' in 1991... The live album 'On the night' was filmed & recorded in 1992 and released in 1993... Years later, Mark Knopfler (vocals/ guitar) recalled that the last Dire Straits tour was a huge financial success but it wrecked their personal lives and split the band apart; Mark Knopfler got divorced a second time and he decided that he would disband Dire Straits after the tour... He has since declined to bring the band back. In 1996, Mark Knopfler launched a solo career w/ his album 'Golden Heart'... and opted to tour in smaller venues. He seemed much happier w/ that arrangement than w/ the massive undertaking that Dire Straits required... his 10th solo album 'One deep river'... was released in 2024. Pink Floyd's David Gilmour also felt that he needed to put his legendary band to rest after their 1994 tour and the release of their live album 'Pulse' in 1995... Floyd's keyboardist Rick Wright recorded and toured w/ Gilmour's solo band until his death in 2008... Gilmour did not feel the need to spend months on the road promoting Pink Floyd. He would he inspired to write a solo record and would announce a tour after a prolonged absence (His solo albums since were - 'On an island' in 2006... 'Rattle that lock' in 2015... and 'Luck and strange' in 2024)
He occasionally uses a pick. Espresso Love and Our Shangri La are two examples. He plays slide guitar sometimes too. So much versatility and creativity in his playing. It's all part of his genius!
Hallo gorgeous....Great reaction. Mark is playing on a classical or spanish guitar with nylonstrings. He dont use a pic on his wright hand...he pics the strings with his fingernails (4 fingers)... Thats the classical style of playing the instrument. Greetings from a real person in Sweden.❤
Far too many channels reacting to the same artists and songs. Reactions are pretty much scripted and rehearsed and add nothing new. Because of this everyone knows these tunes by heart. Time should be given to lesser known artists from this era who are equally as talented but get no exposure. I'm disappointed with reaction channels simply existing to profit of other other people's talent. Either that or wannabe celebs rejected by American Idol or Britain's Got Talent. Sad really!
I really love this song but intensely dislike, the introduction of the slide guitar for this tour. It ruins it for me. A really badly drawn moustache on an otherwise beautiful Mona Lisa. Grrr! The addition of the sax works though. A bit of extra eye-liner for Lisa maybe?
Doesn't get any better than Mark Knopfler. His style and writings have touched millions of music lovers including me. All of his solo stuff is worth having in any library of music. Countless incredibly awesome songs. If you like alil Cowboy/Country Mark Knopfler, , you have to hear "Missing . . . . Presumed Having a Good Time" by The Notting Hillbillies - Mark Knopfler, Steve Phillips, Brendan Croker, Guy Fletcher, Paul Franklin, Marcus Cliffe, and Ed Bicknell. You'll hear some of Mark's very best work. The album came out in the late 80s if I remember right. To this day some of the best guitar work I've ever heard. Here's a lil taste - - - "Will You Miss Me" - - - - th-cam.com/video/4RDklNBzv5Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YDVekd_B7j3M-Hgz
Music will always bring people together...good for our souls!

Such a moody broody ticking time bomb of a song this one, always loved it, even better live, great reaction rhn!
Nice one. Mark Knopfler, the god of finger picking ❤🔥

Dire Straits and ELO are daily staples in my diet.
Doesn't get any better.
Add "You and your friend" from same gig too. Masterful
That guitar style is a folk/ jazz fusion. Very progressive. Very captivating.😌🙂↔️
A truly beautiful crafted live rendition of a brilliant song, nice choice Red x
Wonderful performance. Yes! I agree "Telegraph Road" maybe their greatest work.
Sat VERY front row for Dire Straits in Sydney- Brothers in Arms concert. Amazing performance.
Always enjoy seeing your reactions
Masterpiece 👏

Those huge thumbs help too!
Great reaction mark knophler let's his fingers do the talking check tunnel of love live 1985 in full ❤
You must try Telegraph Road and On Every Street too!
Every street is coming up. I requested that one with a donation. I love that one too.
@@scottnorvell2955 Nice one.
This was once described as an 'instrumental with words' - which sums it up quite well. Mark at his brilliant best.
He's playing a nylon string, classical guitar. The intro is a Spanish/classical style, at the start at least.

Phil Palmer on the electric guitar 🎸🎸🤟🏻🤟🏻
Hi red, ❤❤❤your reaction, mark knopler "golden finger "❤❤❤ it.
For more guitar finger magic, you may want to view Lindsey Buckingham (from Fleetwood Mac) playing solo “Big Love” on “Go Insane” (Texas, 2008)
Listen to the "Love over Gold" album and you may realize where they all fit together.
Mark is one of three British Guitarists that I hold in the highest regard Mark Knophler David Gilmour and Eric Clapton
Have you listened to Pink Floyd ? Of anything with Eric Clapton ?
You won’t be disappointed.
Or perhaps some of the performances with Mark and Eric together? I Think I Love You Too Much from Knebworth '90 would be my recommendation.
This song reminds me of his song Private Dancer that Tina Turner had a hit with in '84

This is the amphitheater in Nîmes.
If you haven't heard it yet check out alcamy. It's a live album
I never would have guessed this was Dire Straits but loved the musicianship!❤

No bad for a left handed guy playing a right hand guitar 😂😂😂
concert de 1993 en France dans les Arènes de Nîmes 😊😊😊
Was hoping for once upon a time in the west live at least lol.
send her a link as a request as she asks
Yes, great call
Why Aye Man,is a fun song about Newcastle and the spirit of the people and their struggles. My father R.I.P. was his favourite group.☮️🇨🇦
Brothers in Arms live
Mark does not use a pick. He finger picks all songs. Very original.
He occasionally uses a pick. Espresso Love and Our Shangri La are two examples. He plays slide guitar sometimes too. So much versatility and creativity in his playing. It's all part of his genius!
I think the guitar is a Gibson Chet Atkins.
Mark has his own sound indeed.....from the first time I heard... Money For Nothing...I knew he was unique.
