    New subscriber here. I love this. We really don't get the use out of a sergers that we should. Didn't realise it could cut through a zip like that. Excellent tutorial and easy to follow ❤

      I am looking to buy a overlocker. Not a air overlocker. But one that very easy to thread. I bought the cheapest pfaff one I sent back. I could not for life me thread one of them it was so difficult for me. 3 thread where easy last one a nightmare. . Anyone know a beginner easy threading. Overlocker , Not to expense overlocker ?

    I was struggling so much with threading my new overlock serger. I followed the instructions that came with the machine over and over again, but the stitches never turned out right. I was just about ready to give up when I tried your suggestion to move the knife out of the way before threading and it was the absolute key! I was so excited to finally be able to successfully thread my serger and produce perfect stitches!! Despite watching many, many videos and reading multiple tips from experts, I never saw that suggestion anywhere. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom!

    My first overlocker arrives tomorrow, and I'm now ready to go for the bits and bobs bag :). I never knew how to make a lined bag before, so very appreciative of the instruction. I only watched this because I'd already watched your Jaguar review (which I'm buying), and was interested in any differences of the Lidl Singer (that I missed out on). By the time you got to the end I'd completely forgotton this was a Singer performance video, until I re-read the title. Had never registered until now that overlockers can't do corners...I've saved this video to make sure I can find it again!

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can go continue your Overlocker around corners but not go round per say. I’ll have a video up soon .

    I have just acquired an over locker from my mum who has passed away 😢 I did not know that you could complete a task like this with such a machine. Am I right in saying that a surger creates a stronger stitch than a regular sowing machine excellent tutorial I shall watch your channel for more exciting projects

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The serger doesn’t create a stronger stitch, per say, but it is a strong stitch. I have made tight stretch wear, jeans, stuffed toys 🧸 and the stitch doesn’t pop or expose itself. So it works well with the correct settings x

    I have had my overlocker for about 4 years and I’m delighted with it and a great price, this week the timing has been knocked out ,I wasn’t going over anything thick, I have phoned two local repair places who both said if if needs a part they can’t help me, but they will still charge £80 so it looks like I will have to buy a new one 😢

    • @AbisDen

    Great video. Took me a while to realise I had chosen a zip with chunky teeth, so I couldn’t get enough of the fabric under the pressure foot. Consequently, I had loops sticking out past the edge of the zip and the seam was weak.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no. If you adjust the knife, you should be able to avoid those loops. Tighten the needle tension also. Did you try again? Did it work the next time?

    Love this cute purse. Great Christmas project too. I've just learnt to thread my serger so am
    looking forward to being creative with it. If I use a printed lining fabric which way on first step would I have to lay it over zip. Thanks for your help. Christine.

    Looks. Great! Did you know you can disengage the knife so that it isn't able to cut? Check your instruction book it's usually very easy to do. Thanks for a great idea 😊

    Thank you for this project it was very easy to follow. One thing - when I was taught to sew - over 60 yrs ago I was told NEVER to knot thread when starting to hand sew. This is obviously something from the past as I see Debbie Shaw doing it all the time👎🏻

    Where have you been all my life?! Only just found you ... I need to go to Specsavers!! 🤣 Great video, didn't know you could cut zips on an overlocker - thanks for the tip. I absolutely love the fabric you used, where did you get it from please? I know you probably bought it a year ago but would still be interested to hear. Keep up the great work, you inspire soo many people, well done 😁

    I love this idea! It’s a cute idea having a single pouch per machine. What size did you cut your fabric? That seems to be a perfect size! Well, maybe not for my serger? I have a Baby Lock and it came with so much stuff!

    Hi Abi, I’ve recently discovered your channel and love it. I notice you just cut the ends off at each side . Would the stitching not come undone ?

    I am so happy to have found you. You are VERY clear in your descriptions. I have one very basic question. Do I need to use a stretch needle if I am sewing stretch fabrics with an overlocker? I am new to overlockers.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ian, how exciting for you, and thank you. yes, use the correct needles to suit your fabrics, I don’t use overlocker needles however, they’re better used in coverstitch machines

    Abi, Do you suggest using a wide or narrow 3 thread overlock? Great video!

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HiMary. Thank you. It depends on which project x for heavier fabrics, 4 works and for stretch I use 4. I use 3 for rolled gems and when I sew the seam using the sewing machine. Or it’s a particularly light weight fabric x

    Just actually listened to your accent, I was born at Stepping Hill hospital, my maternal grandparents lived where you do, or around, close by... before grandfather died, they lived in lower Brinnington, near where St Paul's church was... for the first 5 years of my life, I lived in upper Brinnington, went to school at the old school,
