I am just an Australian guy who has never been to the UK but I have always loved this game. I have never really had a "team" I have kind of just gone for the underdog and just enjoyed it as a whole. The relegation/promotion aspect is what has set this game apart from every other sport on the planet, it gives everyone a chance to dream and when something like Leicester winning it a few years ago happens it truly inspires, not just from a sport aspect but a life aspect, if the "unachievable" can happen, well then YOU can achieve anything! I can only imagine how born and bread Leicester fans must of felt. Gary Neville's words are awe inspiring, the passion the man speaks with is incredible, from a guy on the other side of the planet, the best of luck and get out there and march and do whatever is needed to stop this. YOU can do this!

People say the Super League is about greed. Everything about football has been about greed for ages. FIFA is corrupt (Qatar holding the WC). UEFA and Barclays are obviously against the SL, because they will suffer. VAR has already ruined football. No-one cares about the FA cup or Carling Cup. What is actually wrong with the idea of a league with everyone's favorite teams? I haven't actually heard a proper argument against it. People are just afraid of change. In a free market this should be allowed. You could even make the argument that it would be great for all the other clubs, example: If the big 12 (or so) clubs aren't in the UEFA, then the smaller teams can win it and increase their prestige and money. Same with the premier league. I would say that it's greed and corruption preventing this from happening. I'd like to see Liverpool vs Barca more often.

They benefited from the infrastructure of the league and their country and made it to big name status. Now they are indeed trying to maximize profit, which is reasonable, but they’re trying to freeze out the other teams and protect themselves from the risk inherent in the competition (I.e. relegation, failure to qualify for Europe). They want all the reward and none of the risk. It’s a perversion of “capitalism”. Not based on merit or achievement but monopoly, pure and simple

If anything this should really urge people to now more than ever start supporting their local smaller clubs where quite frankly, the spirit of the old school game still lives on. The once beautiful game has been unrecognisable for quite some time at top level to be honest and this further solidifies it.
It has to be tackled head on otherwise it will split football right down the middle.

The Premier League was setup with 5 break away clubs in 1992. That said the PL is a more accessible competition and more based on merit to enter it, even though the rich clubs will always be at the top of it.

I have had to laugh at people like Gary Neville, employed by Sky, going on self righteous rants against the ESL .. He wasn’t bothered when Sky got into bed with the Premier League back in 92, was he? I recall being priced out of it as a late teen who’d just left home to move in with my first serious girlfriend. Annoyed me a bit at the time, but screw it. Greed always wins.

City didn't want to join the Super League, they actually signed the papers last minute after being informed that almost all clubs already had signed, worried to be left out, they made the choice

Have to say over the last few years with things like corruption in football, Project Big Picture and now the European Super League, Gary Neville has absolutely nailed it every time, he's not afraid to speak his mind where players and managers cannot, and he has football fans at heart, he's holding the game to high standards and he has integrity for the game. Gary Neville right now is pretty much a spokesman for European Football. Class Act.
