- I took my 8 Year old Prusa i3 clone from printing at speeds of 40mm/s to 150mm/s simply by upgrading the firmware to klipper and replaced the dated A4988 stepper drivers to TMC2208.

You've got my approval to post more 3D printing related stuff (Klipper, Moonraker). Your opinion would add a lot of value with the Linux knowledge you have. Maybe even create your own plugin?
Wow, very cool. I'd like to do this. I will be back to revisit this video. Thanks!
nice to see others still rocking Manjaro! my fav distro... i have an old anycubic i3 mega S i should check into hacking it
Folger tech I3 ? Wow, back to the basics !
I was just talking about this very same topic. Using newer hardware and software to bring an old printer back to life.
Wow, you have the same (similar) printer that I have, again 8-9 years old. I will follow through what you did, I hope one day.
Thnx, interesting!
Do you backup the SD card as an image in case of power failure corrupting the card and leaving ther pi unbootable? Only thing putting me off Klipper.
Which of the old i3 clone kits was it built from?
I have 70% of a Mendel 90 that I want to upgrade and Klipperise, just so it doesent feel left out LOL!
😂
It looks like an old Folgertech, I had the 2020 version and it looks identical apart from the acrylic frame.
Yup folgertech
I have a very similar printer and a raspberry pi. Can you share the config file? Thanks....
Yes, PLEASE share your config file…. I promise not to complain if it blows up my hardware….😎
🖖
I think that you can do alot more, that hotend extruder combo should be replaced, tha part that you changed dont do nathing to the partial clog that you had in the cube that was pure luck !
I have the exact same printer . Can you share your printer.CFG from klipper ?
yes once i dial down the settings i will upload to github and update the description
hello fellow nvidia tesla user
Would be cool to do if raspberry pi 4s were accessible
Buy an Orange Pi, loads of the little suckers are available, I have an Orange Pi Zero 2 running Octoprint, there is a little more to install but plenty of tutorials out there
@@AndrewAHayes i think you could run klipper even on a old laptop.
@MinePossu Easily
As for RPi availability.. the supply-chain issues is getting far better, RPi’s are appearing for sale; on Amazon I’ve seen 8gb models at $90 shipped, that’s only $15 over their “real” price of $75. A FAR cry from the $395 I saw a during ‘The Dark Times’.
I really like the community built around the RPi, especially the software support… I find it far better than another other fruit community.
@@ernestgalvan9037 still far from the $35 price target. And they've been saying for over a year now "supply-chain is getting better"
Those aren't 150mm/s!
You need to have an Acceleration of roughly 3800-4500mm2/s to make use of real 150mm/s.
With an Acceleration of 4000mm2/s you need to travel 3mm with the Nozzle to reach 150mm/s.
The Acceleration shown in the Video are not even 2000mm2/s.
The modest way to tune your Acceleration is to get yourself an ADXL345 and messure which Frequenzy the Inpushaper should handle the Vibrations.
Don't care about the max Accel shown in the Graph that much, you probaly need to go lower with your i3.
Interested in reanimate an old HS Leapfrog...european make...
Wow, thats a name I haven't heard in a long time!
@@AndrewAHayes well...that thing still runs....very sturdy indeed...but too noisy and slow because of the processor and other components...
