    Sir, your videos are highly under-appreciated! Looking forward to more videos in the near future.

      I would feel it would be less appreciated if viewed a million times by people who don't care to fully understand.
      did you know fire, light, and sight are all inter-connected?

    That's cool stuff, you deserve a larger audience.
    I love how well that camera fits on that signpost, it's a really elegant solution to hiding a camera in plain sight.
    Also, as a felllow german I have a love/hate relationship with your accent.
    Ps. "BEAR with me" is pronounced more like the german Word bär, not Bier, unless you wanted us to enjoy a drink with you.

      Being a non-native speaker is one of the (many) reasons why I care to offer subtitles ;)

    Great content!
    Presentation style is great, it reminds me of marcoreps.
    Looking forward to your new content👍👍
    Thanks for sharing, all the way from Ipswich Australia.

    Really enjoyed this! Fascinating technique. I have a question: what exactly does w(i) indicate at 5:23? Is this value inversely proportional to the pixel’s brightness?

    • @vlztn
      @vlztn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's exactly what it is. I use the exposure value as a weight which is an inverse log scale. That's the code I use: ev = math.log(aperture / shutter, 2) - math.log(iso/100, 2) + EV_OFFSET

    What a great video I have been looking at doing something like this with Raspberry Pi. No my thought process to would be if there is a program or a script you could use, that would mimic live view composite like on the Panasonic cameras. LVC takes a base photo which becomes your general exposure so all following photos just show changes in your environment without over sampling and overexposing you can look up making star trails with live view composite

    Very cool! I’ve made pi zero cameras in the past, but mostly I just stuck them in old broken cameras. I’d love to do a full 3D print like you’ve done, but I need to figure out how to control the camera settings using physical inputs. Like a dial for ISO and another for shutter speed. (I’ve already figured out push button to shoot, that was easy). GREAT VIDEO!

    Volzo, great video on a great topic ;D I have a technical question about the exposure stacking: Instead of using a weighted average why not set a fixed exposure? As I understand the difference in exposures between images is "reversed" by the weight, right? Or will the result not be the same?

    • @vlztn
      @vlztn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fixed exposure = same exposure settings for each image? This would not capture the same dynamic range as you would loose all images exposed during morning and evening when the scene is too dark. That would be equivalent to doing a shorter overall exposure, like starting to capture at 9 and stopping at 16 o'clock. That does work, indeed, and saves a bit of hassle when doing the computation, but the images are much "flatter", you loose a lot of colours and you don't get the part of the sun's arc when it is just raising and setting above the horizon.

      @@vlztn Ahh, okay I understand. Gonna make some test series to see what works best for me.
      P.S. Danke für die schnelle Hilfe ;)

    amazing, really. do you think a small solar panel can power the operating system? in order to lengthen the periods of exposure.

    • @vlztn
      @vlztn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good point. Yes, it does work well with a medium-sized panel (about as large as a piece of paper). Even a few overcast days in a row are okay. But that does make the camera a lot more obvious, so I tested the solar prototype only on my balcony and did never actually put that to use.

    Wow man you deserve more views where can I Download the 3D file is it PLA?

    • @vlztn
      @vlztn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, that's up to people (and the TH-cam algorithm) to spread the word...
      You can find all files here: github.com/volzotan/CompressorCam/tree/master/hardware
      I would recommend printing in PETG or something similar, PLA may deform after a few hours in direct sunlight.

      Thanks to the global chip shortage it's almost impossible to get the components for the controller board. So, no new solargraphy cameras in the near future, sorry.
