I remember the Malarchuk incident when I was a kid. The blood was just gushing out of him all over the ice. The skate of the player who collided with him sliced his carotid artery, and he’s lucky to have survived that thanks to him receiving immediate attention.

I didnt watch it live as it happened. How terrifying that was for the audience. But i do remember watching an ESPN documentary many years ago about the incident and seeing the footage play out as it occured during that game. I vividly remember him after the hit, on his hands and knees watching his own blood gush out onto the ice. Its gruesome. I was traumatized by it. I've never seen any sports injury like it and I have seen many especially those nasty leg breaks (Chris Weidman, Paul George). Those don't come close to Malarchuk. I am a die hard Bengals fan and I remember when Damar Hamlin collapsed. I was getting off work to watch the game with my family, when my oldest sister texted about what happened on the group chat. I obviously knew that it was serious, but the gravitation of it didn't hit me until I got into my Mom's car and I heard the sports announcers talking about what happened on the radio. I just broke down in tears and begged God with all my might to not take him. I didn't stop praying until I had faith Damar was going to be alright. I am so blessed and thankful to God that Cincinnati and Buffalo came together to share each other's pain and support Damar. Even though the incident was almost two months ago, I will still remember it like it was yesterday. #lovefordamar 💙

@@vortexvirus755The Bills did NOT choke!!!! Do you have any idea what that team went through that season?! They had to have two of there games moved to other stadiums because of the weather. Then after one of the games they had to figure out how to get home cuz Buffalo was going through one of the worst blizzards in history which caused all sorts of problems for the people of Buffalo! They eventually had to fly to Rochester and then take a bus back to Buffalo and then somehow both find and dig out there cars! There were so many players in and out of games because of injuries! Then they witnessed one of there teammates/brothers literally die on the field and then come back to life again! I mean they performed CPR on Damar for 9mins and then watch him leave in the back of an ambulance without knowing if he was going to survive or not! Thankfully they didn’t make them keep playing and the way the other team and there fans treated the situation was amazing. But the Bills went through far more then any other team has gone through and when they stepped out onto that field that night you could just tell that they were tired. Normally when they play they’re running around with smiles on there faces and laughing. You’ll see Allen doing all his different “handshakes” with the guys and they’ll be dancing or showing off. But in this game there was none of that. So if you wanna say they “choked” then fine, but what I saw on that field that night was a team that was completely drained and just had no more drive left in them.

I've seen several MLB games involving players getting struck in the head either with the pitched ball or the pitcher getting hit with a line drive right back at him. The worst I remember is Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins. If you've ever actually held a real game ball and can imagine one traveling upwards of 90 MPH at your skull, you can imagine how damaging that can be.

No mention of the Boston Bruins going into the stands at MSG on 23 December 1979.
No mention of the HORRENDOUS career ending break to Joe Theismann's leg on 18 November 1985.

Stingley took a hit from Jack Tatum in a pre-season game & suffered compression of his spinal cord & broke two of his vertebrae. Stingley never regained the use of his arms or legs. He died in 2007 from an illness brought on by the complications of quadriplegia. Tatum never apologized for what happened to Stingley & he never spoke with him after the hit.

No mention of baseball in this video, so I will provide one for you:
Steve Yeager -- On September 6th, 1976, the Los Angeles Dodgers were playing the San Diego Padres at Jack Murphy Stadium. In the Top of the 6th Inning, Dodgers shortstop Bill Russell was at bat. He hit a ball pitched to him by the Padres' Randy Jones. The bat broke, and the barrel of the bat flew straight at Dodgers catcher Steve Yeager, who was waiting in the on-deck circle. The jagged end of the barrel pierced Yeager's throat. All play was stopped immediately, as trainers from both teams tended to the injury. Several minutes later, after Yeager had been taken off the field and to a local hospital, play resumed, albeit with thoughts of Yeager's well-being on the minds of everyone in attendance.
Fortunately, Steve Yeager was able to return as catcher less than three weeks later, and with a new piece of equipment: a throat protector which hung underneath his catcher's mask, which is now standard issue in most baseball leagues. Yeager would retire from baseball in 1986, after spending all but the final year of his career in Los Angeles.
