- A pretty lengthy substory even with editing involved. The Fighter has finally found a fiancee and now he wants to find his successor so he can retire and move on with his life.
I love how at peace Kiryu is when he's at the Pocket Circuit races. No one wants to punch him, no one yells at him, everyone is his friend. This is his happy place :3

with the aid of his old friend, who had some trouble with the law but wants to make amends, they set on a journey to find someone worthy of being the succesor.

Pocket Circuit Fighter, the one character to actually visibly age within the 17 year time-gap between 0 and Kiwami.
And even more between Kiwami and Yakuza 6.
My brother thought he was about early 20s or so in Yakuza 0, and then could tell he was in his 40s or so in Kiwami. He was a bit surprised to know he was almost 30.

@@dalaxdercrisper957 what if, in alteenate universe, 1995 didn't happend, and at 1988 he did accepted it but only to return at 1996 after he have his own family with Nishiki, and married with Yumi and Nishi with Reina, and then Kiryu actually got most of the family into the PC and have their own circuit centre "KNY Pocket Circuit centre" with Majima as the no.2 racer XD

He's actually 37 in this haha, he's aged pretty well (unlike a certain pocket racer)
This is one of the many substories that make me love Kiryu as both a character and a person. He knows he's not the greatest person in the world, but he refuses to see people become a shell of what they once were and will fight to help their future as well. And hell, he doesn't always resorts to violence either, only if he feels it necessary to prove a point. (Like in Yakuza 5 when he punched out Yuya for not sticking up for a host club who was giving in to Yakuza demands)
He's just the kind of guy who looks massively intimidating and dangerous, (which he is) but is someone who is a friend for life when you get to know him.

That's why his dragon tattoo is the way it is: It's ascending, and also has a pearl clutched in its talons, unlike other dragons which are sideways or forward and don't hold anything.
Dragons are powerful, the strongest creatures in nature. But Kiryu also adds wisdom and purpose to his dragon (apparently that's what the pearl and rising means). He's not just about being strong and ruling over others. It's about having a reason for that strength, and knowing when and how to use it, including not resorting to physical might, but intelligence and resolution in your beliefs.

@@yb576 Yeah and with the recent trailer, we see why. He's someone who just wants a chance to prove himself, to show he can be one of the greats. But that's the issue as well. When you want to prove yourself so much, you may become blind to how others may twist that for their own use.
Seeing the flashbacks to Kiryu playing with the kids and Fighter getting old kinda breaks my heart a bit. Wow, I wish other substories from Yakuza 0 also return in future titles. Specifically the Burusera Girl Sachiko and the Real Estate.
I was looking for Sachiko as well! Would have been interesting to see how Kazuma reacts to her and vice versa since Sachiko had a crush on Kazuma after he saved her!

It would be hilarious if Sachiko ended up being one of Kiryu’s random hookups from the Phone Club or something. Then catching up with the characters from Real Estate - like Marina and that buff okama - would be awesome. We got Yuki back in K2, so it’s not impossible.
@@apf777 replying to an old reply but unfortunately marina would never have been possible cause she was modeled after a real life person, and those types of characters generally dont return much unless they’re important to the story
Not a sub story, But I would like to see what the 0 trainers, Miss Tatsu and Bacchus specially, are up to those days. I wonder if Bacchus is happy after selling himself to the mafia...

This substory makes me hope that in Kiwami 2 Majima will get a substory where he gets to see all the hostesses from club sunshine again
As much as I would love that, I highly doubt that they would. Reason being that the hostesses are all modeled after real life Adult Film Stars in Japan so they would have to get permission to reuse their likeness again which would probably cost more money so I don’t think they’re gonna bring them back. Maybe reference them by name and say what they have been up to but that’s about it.

0:22 This one image just gave me a little chuckle and a warm fuzzy feeling. The image of this one absolute monster of a man who managed to beat up like 50+ yakuza members and KO'd a yakuza lieutenant multiple times happily getting hyped up for his toy car to win like a kid is just too wholesome.

I want to see this become an actual anime. It has all the markings of a shonen already, and already has a great story backing it up. Would anyone else watch an anime about the three kids and how they all rise to the top of Kamurocho pocket racing?

I'd watch it with full passion (relax,anime art style will make him look younger,after all,he's a DILF no homo,i want to be like him someday)

I think Takuma Sato WAS the main inspiration for Takuma-kun.
And Mika in F1 was a legend. Here she needs teaching from Takuma.

There's just something oddly satisfying about watching the "Dragon of Dojima" geeking out over toy racing.
One of my favorite side quests from 0 and it reminds me of how I used to play the real pocket circuit in reality as it was used to be popular on those days. Maybe if Sega gets Tamiya's endorsement for this which allows the use of Tamiya mini 4WDs could make the pocket circuit known even more today.
I used to use energizer in my pocket racer, the boost in RPM is outstanding

Kamurocho stayed relatively same in the 17 years between Kiwami 0 and 1 but changed drastically in 1 year during Kiwami 2.

Is it weird to say that this entire substory has a sort of anime show feel to it? I'm serious, if they changed some aspects of it, give the races a bit more spirit and super feeling to it, it would be a good show.
And before anyone says that the show would be dumb to watch, let me remind you that BeyBlade exists, which is a show about kids fighting with spinning tops.

Truly, a gripping tale of family, friendship, love, drive, passion and the spirit of competition that spanned generations. That just so happens to involve pocket sized cars and a man in a brightly coloured costume being helped by a criminal. Awesome sidequests, but what the heck Japan?

That piano piece toward the end with Takuma really got me, it's such a lovely & heartwarming composition that reminds me of all the good times I spent with my friends. Days I wish that I could relive again. :')
When I got Yakuza Kiwami 2 I really badly wanted to visit and see how Takuma was doing As the new Fighter.
I think we can all agree seeing an ex yakuza enjoying things like karaoke, arcade games and even toy racing games is pretty good

This sub story was simply fantastic from start to finish. Couldn't help but love every moment of it.
...this better be continued in Kiwami 2, or I'm gonna cry. This minigame is full of passion. And...y'know, with a side of frustration, but that's usually how it is with Sega's minigames.

Just realized that yeah, in the series, Fighter is the only one who ever calls him Kazuma-kun, Kazama just says "Kazuma" and Fighter's son calls him "Kazuma-san".
I mean in 0 everyone in the track centre call him Kazuma-kun and even Majima call him that while he challenge him for his title of Kamurocho's fastest
there’re only 3 kids at the reunion make this substory even more sad, all the cast from yakuza 0 should have been here🙁

One of the first places i visited in Kiwami 2 was the Pocket Circuit Stadium. Needless to say, i was heartbroken and disappointed it's not there :(

This was incredibly wholesome. I'm glad Kiryu has a place he can be happy and at peace at. He deserves simple happiness like this ^.^
At the start of this quest, when Kiryu closes his eyes and says that it feels like just yesterday that he spent so much time with the slot cars, and you think it's him remembering his youth.....
...but then it goes sepia tone in a flashback image and you see Kiryu, clearly very much an adult, gleefully crushing a bunch of children.
I literally burst out laughing when I first played this game 😂

this mini game pocket circuit always and still reminds me of my anime childhood. about toy cars too. I think this game got inspiration from that anime.

I never played Yakuza 0, in fact, right now I'm playing Yakuza Kiwami, my first Yakuza game, and I died of laughter when they showed the Flashback of an adult Kiryu playing with a bunch of children, now I'm on a mission to find him a successor to Fighter, so far it's going great 👍🏼

It's mostly due to Amon being accessible in 6 after beating only two particular substories, so I didn't bother beating all other substories especially if i'm not gonna understand them. But just let that sweet English release come out and you bet i'm gonna be releasing a lot of substory videos B)

How did you get that car? I used golem tiger with spiked tires plus, metal frame plus, godspeed motor, boost gears, high capacity batery, slide stabilizer 2.0, heavy suspension and new bumper plate same as yours excepting the fact when I didn't had something I used the previous versión there are parts I couldn't find and I tried in all the Places.
Only the race with Takuma i hate it. But i do feel a conndction the story of this subplot.

I just wsnt to give it all to pocket circuit fighter. I actually raced these kinds of cars as a kid. So the minigame was my favorite. And pocket circuit fighter has a special place in my heart.
