Unfortunately, I realize now that, while Robert Downey Jr. played a respectful role, people who are filled with race-prejudice can't help but see every comic black character as a demeaning representation, that's just how these people think about black people, and these people, the OP is one, think that Robert Downey Jr. is mocking black people in his portrayal. While this is completely false, that is exactly what they think, and they constitute roughly 1 in 10 of the non-black audience of this film. This is why those few racially biased morons recommend this film to creators of color, especially to women, because they think that reviewing the film and watching the portrayal somehow humiliates black people (as it does in their simple minds). I have to point this out, because to a person of normal sensibilities, this isn't obvious at all, I didn't even realize this until I had a back-and-forth with a racist in a comment section. That's why I don't think creators notice until WAY too late that they are being subtly mocked by fascists. This is not Robert Downey Jr.'s fault, he did a good job of being respectful.
@@lawrencefrost9063 I am NOT saying that Robert Downey Jr's portrayal is bad or racist, it IS NOT, and that's actually a testimony to the film. The fact that Robert Downey Jr actually does the directors commentary in character is one of the most meta and brilliant things ever. Best part of owning it on DVD.

Side note, Tom Cruise actually created the character of Les Grossman; Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller are actually close friends and Ben sent Tom an early copy of the script (that didn't have any of the studio side of things) and Tom said there should be a third party in the mix and suggested an over-the-top studio exec, and wanted to play the part himself.

That “survive” from rdj as Ben stiller takes 100 bullets to the back is my favorite line in any movie
When Ben stiller approached cruise with this. cruise told him he wanted bigger hands and to dance. And convinced him obviously. The rest is history!!
is a most risky comedy with non-stop absurd, crazy jokes. rare treasure.
Arianna reaction so honest and lovely. 💗
I’m so glad you reacted to this movie and you understand the gem that it is!
Literally stopped my show to watch this 😅
This is one of the few films that I'd recommend watching the director's cut of first. Genuinely one of the most consistently hilarious comedies of the 21st century, without question 🤣
Also, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who laughs at "any tips" because even that subtle thing is hilarious to me lol
Arianna's reaction to this was fantastic. Just a steady stream of laughter. So infectious. So damn funny!!
I absolutely loved your reaction to this movie. It is one of my favorite comedies along with Dodgeball. The fact that you got so much joy and laughter from the movie was awesome. Good job Arianna.
Robert said it and he really did it he stayed in Character the whole DVD Directors Commentary. 😅
This movie went over so many peoples heads when it originally came out. People are just now catching up
This is by far my favorite reaction to this!
Mine too, and I’ve seen a lot of reactions lol
Wish she had reacted to the end credits as well.
Damn, girl! I was browsing TH-cam and couldn't remember if I'd seen your reaction to this. When I opened it I saw that I'd already 'liked' it but, as it started playing, I immediately started smiling and laughing along with you and thought I'd watch for a while. After just a few minutes of enjoying your reaction I couldn't stop and ended up rewatching the entire thing.
Thank you so much (again) for being you and doing what you do. So f'n fun watching your reactions. My face is also sore from the way you make me smile non-stop! 🤗😘
Watching Arianna for even the first 2:20 seconds made my week.
my cheeks hurt from smiling at her smiling and laughing. shes infectious in the best possible way.
I loved your reaction to this Arianna, nothing but laughter and smiles! I’ve only ever seen one TH-cam reactor that didn’t understand this film and feel awkward about the jokes.
One of my favourite films… shame that nobody will make comedy like this again… 😩
Thank you for saying this is your favorite Tom Cruise movie, because I think this is his best acting performance ever. I cried watching this movie and still do lol
Agree 💯
My 3 faves from cruise are this one , last samurai and edge of tomorrow
I had so much fun watching you react to one of my favorite movies! My friends and I watched it for the first time one night, then we watched the entire movie again with the dvd commentary. It’s hilarious.
This is sincerely one of the best reactions I've ever seen. You said you can't believe you went this long having not seen this movie, I can't believe I've not come across your channel until now.
Arianna, your Incredible smile and laughter has brightened my WHOLE CHRISTMAS SEASON!!!
Honestly, I don't know who's having more fun. You, watching this movie or me watching your reaction. You're friggin amazing!
Creep much?
@@jamessullivan4391 Dick much??
this is by far the best reaction i’ve watched. i could not stop laughing with her 😂😂😂
This movie is tremendous. RDJ and Tom Cruise absolutely killed it and nice use of The Boys clip at 6:36 😆
I think I laughed more watching Arianna's reaction than I did when I saw this film the first time. That laughter is infectious.
This simply is, 100%, the best youtube reaction to this movie.
This was so awesome! The rediculousness that is this movie! We also got Arianna to react to it and she almost died of laughter! One of the best reactions I've seen all year! Thank you!
just watched again. her laughter is pure gold in this reaction
I love so much that you watched this movie. Saw it in theater, one of my favorite comedies. And wildly under-rated.
This reaction was brilliant!!! 😂😂 You simply picked the greatest, funniest scenes that explained the arc of the story. I was pissing? Flatulating? or whatever myself watching this.
Man, you caught Tom cruise immediately. I went through the entire film not knowing that was him till his last dance number. After which I completely lost it. Lol
I recall seeing this in the theater when it opened. Couldn't stop laughing. Arianna, lol, would've fit in perfectly with the set of friends that evening. Your laughter is contagious!
Your reaction to this was almost as good as the movie. Without a doubt, Tropic Thunder is one of the all-time great comedic films.
This might be the best reaction to Topic Thunder i've ever seen, and i've seen alot of them.
This movie is in the top 10 GOAT comedies
That was by far the best damn movie reaction on you tube, You really know how to do it right.
This has become my favorite film for Reactions; given the witty script, perfect performances, and a genuinely well-made film, this movie somehow slipped by many people at release and it's a blast seeing others experience it now.
Also, it becomes even funnier with multiple watches.
This might be my favorite reaction to any movie from any channel!❤️. I'm so happy that you saw the humour in the absurdity
Love this reaction, I forgot how funny it was. I remember seeing it in theaters. I legit had no idea Les was Tom Cruise. When his credit came up at the end, I remember half the theater being shocked it was Cruise. One of funniest movies ever.
currently in the middle of a depresh sesh and your laughter is healing me. your reactions are one of my favorites. thank you for doing what you do and for being you ♡
Her reactions just take me back to when I saw this in theater for the first time. I had the same reactions.
Arianna, you completely just made my morning watching your smiles and laughter during this movie. Thank you!!
I'm SO glad you both watched this!----- Tom Cruise's best character by far. Him dancing at the end is epic.----- Gotta give props to Robert Downey Jr. as well.----- AS a black man I have no problem with equal opportunity laughter. Folks need to get over themselves and give the PC train a rest.
Man, ain't that the truth? Those people who willfully ignore the satire and go straight being offended FOR black folks who may or may not (but usually do) think it's hilarious, are stupid as hell.
Is it still 2016? I thought the only people still on the "PC train" are either people who are professionally upset at everything, and people who can't stop complaining about "PC culture, SJWs, and cancel cultute."
As a white person I don't understand what there is to be mad about, at what point in the movie did the makers express it's okay to do something like that? They were making fun of a crazy white guy who were insanely into method acting 🤣🤣 I wish everyone was as chill as you about it
I dont recall anyone ever being upset by this movie.
@@cctomcat321 Good old enlightened centrism.
I don't think I ever laughed as hard as I have at Kirk willing Speedman to "survive" after getting shot 30 times
This movie is fucking timeless
This is easily the funniest panda murder in cinema history
There are a lot of reactions to this movie on YT but this is by far my favorite cause this reminds me of the glee I felt when I watched this for the first time. What a cast, what a movie!!!!
RDJ absolutely slayed this movie. You could never make this movie, today. Definitely one of the best comedies of the last 20 years.
This movie made me see Tom Cruise as a great actor. Plus Arrianna is such a gem to watch movies with, just adore her.
Given that RDJ said Sean Penn dropped out, I wondered if the Sean Penn joke was added to the script after that?
Robert Downey Jr actually didnt drop the act until the dvd commentary, he does the commentsry in role
The first time I watched this when it came out I didn't know it was Tom Cruise until the end of the movie. Great casting and script.
Robert Downey Jr did a great job.
Tropic Thunder is the closest any movie will get to Blazing Saddles made after 2000. We will never see anything like it ever again. An instant classic that I will have my kids watch some day.
Don't feel bad, this is legit one of Tom Cruise's best roles.
Agreed. Concentrated greatness.
randomly came across this in my recommended videos
This chick has a very nice smile when she laughs lol
God tropic thunder was great
