  • Today we discuss what it's like to daily drive a LS swapped E30! There's so many videos online of LS cars doing burnouts, drifts, and all sorts of other crazy things, but what about just daily driving one? We break it down into five categories: Fun factor, reliability, comfortability, fuel economy, and uniqueness.

    This is one of the best LS-Swaped cars on TH-cam with a nicely done interior! Every other youtuber just straight piping their cars... you can´t even drive over 10 min without getting deaf.
    They also destroying, at my opinion, the exterior and interior of the car with the excuse "it´s a race car"

      @@slightlyMADcustoms Thanks, most of my issues will be self inflicted as I am either to poor, or to cheap to buy the sikky parts, LOL. Fortunately I have spent years in the industry fabricating and building various cars. So instead of buying Sikky new tools, I am buying my own. The only downside is its harder to replicate when I want to build another. Right now my primary problem is I found a hot side kit thats cheap, but uses a stock DS truck manifold, and I dont think I can make that clear the stinking steering shaft even with the solid shaft kit. So this one may just stay NA. Not that it will be anything to sneeze at that way anyway! ETA now if you have a line on free T-56 transmissions I am all ears! LOL

  • @Paulydxdd
    @Paulydxdd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Love your build. I did an e36 m3. I bought an ls3 for the swap. My builder talked me into returning it, and going with a 2JZ turbo motor. I loved the 2jz and 700hp is fun-on the freeway just put my foot down at 3500rpm and watch the black lines appear in the rear view mirror.......BUT something was missing. It took me a while to figure out what was creating this feeling of something missing. It was the low rpm torque the LS3 puts out. Didn''t have to wonder much longer....shop next door caught fire on a sunday, and burnt my car to the ground. Now i'm in the process of buying a well done LS swapped E30. I'm so used to the LS3 in my C6 corvette daily driver, any less power seems boring.....and lets face it, i'd rather listen to an LS motor than the pissed off can of bees the 2j sounded like.

    I don’t mind a LS swap
    I have no knowledge regarding the transmission, what options do you have?

    • @slightlyMADcustoms
      @slightlyMADcustoms  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The most popular option is a T56 because it’s very strong and reliable. A TR6060 is the updated version of a t56 and you can use that too. Alternatively you can use a TKO 500, TKX, CD009, or a Aisin AR5. All those transmission will be able to handle the torque of the LS. On the budget side you can get adapter plates to use a BMW E36 ZF trans, although I really wouldn’t recommend it. The T56s are getting hard to find but they’re worth the extra money because they fit great in E30s and they can handle any amount of power you throw at them

      That’s a cool swap for sure. Personally I like the simplicity of the V8. Bone stock 400hp, not pushing anything to the limits. Any swap he does will be at least 10K, gotta make sure it’s a engine that won’t leave him wanting more

    • @slightlyMADcustoms

      A aluminum LS drivetrain in a E30 is only 50 pounds heavier than stock. So virtually no difference in handling. Especially if you do a little tasteful weight reduction in the engine bay

You do it right at all and give it a proper shakedown then 5000 km is nothing. Oh and I have an 08 ISF that I have parts piling up for and have already put 5000 miles on it with ZERO issues. @@slightlyMADcustoms An LS is one of the most dependable powertrains out there. You could pull right out of a junkyard and at least get 5000km out of it, that's an oil change duration. Although, if it was the stock BMW powertrain... then I could see the worry. Hahaha. But man, I wouldn't worry much about driving that car, it seems legit AF and nicely done. Wish I had the means to build something like that back when I was that young. My first build was an 88 CRX HF and I took a D16z6 from a an 95 EX Civic and slapped that bastard in there. It went from 1700lbs and like 50 hp to 1740lbs and 130hp. I then added an AEM CAI and a DC Sports header with a catback I had built at a shop. It was taking on Vettes off the line after that. Not always winning of course but that Power to Weight wasn't messing around. That was 1998 or so.... Keep it up man and run with it. Drive that shit like you have the skill to fix it.
