    I enjoy your videos. One amount you did’t mention in your two year cost analysis is if you get the CA Climate Credit.
    I get about $140 CA Climate Credit per year in Southern CA.

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct! I believe we have a $39 credit (or something close) coming on our next bill. Since we have a natural gas bill with them still, I count this credit towards those charges instead of the electricity....but yep this would count too!

    Nice amount of information....

    Did you do an earlier video on the vehicle data (red). I'm trying to understand what it is trying to tell us?

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      I made a comment on it in an earlier video, yep. We have two Teslas, one on the FSD beta branch...so it's been a couple months behind getting the update to enable this. Therefore, those graphs are only half accurate for us (even though they have all the data they need anyways!)

    Nice video Mahkus! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to PW3. Hoping that Tesla follows Enphase's lead and gives us bidirectional EV charging via PW3

      I would love to see that too! Hoping for at least some V2G or V2H from the Cybertruck.

    I would love to get PW3. Unfortunately they won't be readily available until summer 2024. Solar install crew shows up next week. Oh well.

      I think the difference you'd notice would be minimal in a multi powerwall setup. If you're getting one Powerwall - it'll be a huge difference though!
      You're going to love solar and powerwalls!

    Does it have two inverters 😊

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, one solar inverter and one battery inverter.

    • @nashga510
      @nashga510 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMahkusokay thanks does it degrade performance or does it overheat inside garage
      A friend of mine said it overheats his garage due to inverters

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nashga510 For us it gets up to 110 outside. Our garage gets up to around 95 or so at its hottest in the summer. The powerwalls do put out some heat, but for us our Model 3 and Model Y put out way more after being used on a hot day.
      I'd be more concerned in our environment that it would use more energy outside to keep itself thermally happy. I also prefer them in the garage so that nobody can mess with them.

    Mahkas I will be installing 55kw tesla roof installed in Florida Will be waiting on the PW3 to add 52kw of batteries I will also be replacing my panel with span panel Any thoughts?

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      5.5 kW or 55 kW? Either way, congrats! I'm not fully familiar with FL sun but if it's 5.5 kW will that be enough to fill up the Powerwalls daily?
      Span panel will be nice. Not necessary, but very nice!
      I'll try and get more info about max Powerwall 3 per site in the future.

    Is PW3, LFP?

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's suspected but we don't have official confirmation from Tesla of that yet.

  • @Dead_Aim556

    Is there a way to use a secondary diesel/propane generator?

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      We haven't seen it yet with Powerwall 3 but Powerwalls can be added to systems with backup generators and a transfer switch. I believe that the generator can't charge the Powerwall but can supply power if the Powerwall is empty or can't supply enough.

  • @trinianddiana
    @trinianddiana ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Absolutely love your videos. If you add a new powerwall (powerwall2) to an existing system that’s grandfathered into NEM 2.0, will that change you to NEM 3.0?

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว

      My understanding is that you can add 10% of solar capacity without changing NEM status. AFAIK any Powerwall addition requires switching to NEM 3

  • @q2w8i9o
    @q2w8i9o ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow that a lot of production. What states / province are you situated ? I am in Montreal region and I'll be around 4100 kw/h producing this year. Will add an extra 2250 kw of solar panel this month for a total 9000 kw. Maybe I'll be able to reach 5500 kw next year...?

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We're in Northern California, I believe one of the places with the "most sunny days" in the US...we get a lot of production for sure!

  • @frankcoffey
    @frankcoffey ปีที่แล้ว

    It seems like the electronics in the powerwall is much of the cost. For example if a 82kwh car battery is only $22,000 to replace but the powerwall is only 13.5kwh and costs $9,200 each. That's a lot less battery for the money.

    • @TheMahkus
      @TheMahkus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe so! Hopefully Tesla will implement a vehicle power system like Ford's Pro Power Assist in their upcoming vehicles. Wish we could utilize the 150 kWh sitting idle in the garage!

  • @nashga510
    @nashga510 ปีที่แล้ว

    Someone said that it had two inverters for one after solar panels where it converts from dc to AC and then one before the battery where it converts for AC to dc
    I will try to find and share the link
    I want to confirm with you with what he said is right
