Holy smokes ...we pay only 12c per KWh here in Virginia peak, and 5c off peak (11pm -7am).

Yeah electricity costs here are ridiculous with PG&E. It only took two $700-800 sunmer bills for us to sign up for solar, lol

Great post. I recently installed a 11.4 kw Tesla system. Just turned on beginning of Dec. I don’t see my rate plan in the app with APS here in Az. So I entered it manually. I get error when it saves, and the times it did save. It’s not there again if I wanted to edit it. Is this normal?

Tesla app has been really buggy as of late. That doesn't sound like it's functioning normally.

I'll remember to raise the volume for garage recordings for next time, thanks!

If your state has net-metering, I still don't see any advantage in using the powerwalls for anything except backup. My excess solar gets credited back to the grid for use later. I don't have to worry about having enough solar to recharge the powerwalls the next day.

Non-bypassable charges. We pay about a nickel per kWh for NBCs. We use 15,000 kWh per year, so that's $750 in additional fees if we just keep the Powerwalls full and use the grid. We also have east facing panels which don't produce during peak times so it would open us up to those ridiculously expensive rates!

Fewer and fewer locations are doing 1 to 1 net metering and of course there’s lots of places with pricey peak rates.

This doesnt work in places like CA where peak rates are when the sun is going down
